It's not like the community can't handle BM. Heck the community "loves" Idra for being Idra. But he knows where the line is drawn.
Destiny has crossed it way too many times. And now he will have hard time finding new team, and that is the way it should be.
You shouldn't get away with doing / saying anything when streaming or being part of a pro team. Heck you shouldn't get away with being an asshole on bnet either and I'm sure that Blizzard doesn't tolerate this kind of words either if the players get reported.
How many people has Destiny flipped off at tournaments?
It's a shame what happend here, i'm no fanboy but i find his stream quite amusing in times of boredom. the fact that he got banned ( the 30 day thing*) was justified, if u disrespect mods on a forum they are gonna ban u, thats just a fact. but the aftermath of this is so over the top....
yes he used bad language en some peopele didnt like it, have u never been BM'd on the ladder ? I mean TL had multiple threads on BM on the ladder
It's full of stuff that can be offensive for hundreds of people, yet these players do not suffer because they arent in any clan/team that is relevant. Destiny is relevant so he gets to be the black sheep for all that is wrong with talking dirty on a stream or chat or whatever... They ( and by they i mean the people who are responsible for all this crap) have been after him for so long and destiny has had to take so much crap from so many people for doing what he does, and all because they don't agree with what he does.
It's just a damn shame, if u dont like what he does then dont watch his stream it is just that simple ( and dont try to cover it all up with that community crap cause ur living in a fantasy world with a hundred people who think the same and a million who just like to play games ...)
( sry for any bad language i may have used english is not my native language )

No. I'm pretty sure their job security is dependent on not being a bigot. It's not a very difficult skill to master.

Not even remotely apples to apples.
How?! You tell me its not the same but don't give any reasons as to why? Destiny's stream is something accessed via the internet - as is starcraft. Destiny's stream is listed with an "Explicit Language" warning, here in Australia SC2 is given a "Mature" classification (recommended for mature audiences - not restricted to). Destiny's stream is watched by people who elect to tune in - starcraft is played by people that elect to play it. Starcraft is the way pro's make their money - your job is the way you make money.
Because Destiny was at work (streaming) when he was being racist. The end result of acting unprofessional in the work place? Your boss lets you go.
The end result of publicly being racist? (If you were to assume that Destiny was not in the work place while streaming) Is that you get shunned by the community you are presenting yourself to.
Both happened to Destiny. It would have happened in any other professional scenario.

If you guys can't see the difference between the middle finger and racial slurs, I'm not sure if anyone can help you.
Are we really having people email sponsers again? Seriously? Do some people just not want a pro scene to exist or something? Go through teams, and boycott them if necessary, but sponsers should be an absolute last resort, that kind of behaviour is sickening.
On the topic of Destiny leaving Quantic though, not that surprising. I disagree with the words he was using too, but I just chose to stop supporting him by no longer watching his stream, even though I still liked his content minus that stuff.
People who think it is there job to email sponsers when they see someone say something They deemed offensive need to get a life. Unless the comments were directed at you then get over it and choose to ignore. This pc bullshit of today's world is pathetic. Don't watch his stream if u don't like him his language or his gaming.

The problem is not that people get pissed, the problem is how much power the community has. This is the reason we need a governing body to handle situations like this. The community should have no power what so ever.
the community of any sport / esport has power. Imagine if a professional sport player called another player who happened to be black a "nigger". the community would go crazy and would probably have influence on the team/leagues decision.
They have a governing body that handle that sort of thing. You just completely ignored my point. The reason for a governing body to handle this sort of stuff is that if this had been another pro gamer, not someone in the spotlight at all, the person wouldn't have been fired, and only gotten a little flack for it. But because Destiny is a controversial community figure, all the haters jump the gun and the rest of the drones just follow what the hive tells you to follow.
The community is made up of a majority who don't think for themselves. Whatever is the most popular opinion at the time is their opinion. We need a governing body, not a community of collective butt-hurt whiners who email sponsors and make life a misery for the companies and businesses who currently make this a somewhat viable career choice.

Louis CK doesn't say nigger or faggot in his standup anymore as a swear word. He has said in interviews that he doesn't because of people that try to justify racism, such as many have in this thread. It's the exact same reason Dave Chapelle doesn't do a TV show anymore because of people like you (he also found people laughing at the wrong parts and were using it justify racism).
Here's Louis CK in his TV show explaining his rationale (Begins at 4:50):
The etymology of the word "faggot" is incorrect, but the underlying point of its offensiveness still stands.
Which is why I said that Louis CK is completely different from Destiny.
Destiny is literally trying to defend his racism with bullshit excuses, the problem is the his fans gobble it up and don't question it, and then just ape what he does.

You don't think that happens on the court or on the field? May not be as harsh as calling a player "nigger", but there's definitely shit talking in the sound bytes. Only time players get into trouble is if it's recorded somehow in text or on tape. People need to spend their time more wisely and not worry about such miniscule things.
There's nothing wrong with shit talking. I can't believe people are actually defending this. People have gotten fined $2,500 in hockey for using a middle finger gesture. Major sports take this shit way more seriously. Of course they wouldn't get in trouble if no one heard about it, but if people did hear about it, they would get disciplined in a way that would hurt their career substantially. The situation is the same here. If destiny said "gook" to someone, but it was never recorded, nothing would have happened. Doesn't mean its right for him to say it.
Thank god the UT community was never ever such crybaby-heavy as this community is =) As sad as using stupid words may be, for myself, I just get the feeling that the other guy behind his screen is just a poor poor guy and that's it. My live won't change nor will I be deeply shaken. Hell I mostly even think that guy will never use such words in real-life or even have the same attitude he has ingame.
This community has just reached the lowest level of any community that I have ever seen or been a part of. It's reached levels of 4chan /b/. At least when the /b/tards try to fuck up someones life for whatever reason, they admit it's just because they want to. The White Knights here are doing it behind the guise of 'cleaning up the community' when everyone knows damn well that swearing and insulting on the internet is never going to stop.
People on this site have become addicted to drama and discovered the power to manipulate things i.e. create drama by messaging sponsors. Im actually physically disgusted by the fact that some people in this thread are actually pleased with themselves for doing this. They remind me of the generic bitchy class mom in sitcom-y type shows that tries to ruin everyone elses lives under the guise of making everything better for her son or the class or whathaveher.
I just wish that when shit liked this happened, the people in support of whomever is getting witchhunted would message the sponsor telling them that they don't want him to be punished, because as it stands, when a part of the community is upset, they can just message the sponsor and the sponsor will suddenly receive 5000 emails saying 'I won't support this team or player or whatever'. As opposed to them receiving 5000 email saying that and another 6000 emails saying 'I don't care what this team or player did, I still will buy razer stuff, and I support them.'

IdrA flipped off HuK on stage, caught on camera and if I'm not mistaken, was broadcast on stream. No one gave a shit really. So yes, it is not as bad.

Technically he is being shunned for racism, not for being offensive. He wasn't exactly lynched for saying the word "fuck" or "shit" or "ass."
For example, if you set fire to a bunch of random stuff in a parking lot--you'd be branded as a pyro and the police might toss you in overnight for being a bother to society.
Set a cross on fire on the sidewalk across from a black person's house and you will be punished severely both by the law and the community.
Why? Because it's not the fire that you're being punished for, it is for the implications of the fire. If Destiny simply yelled out "fuck you" and left, this wouldn't have happened. But if you act bigoted--people will notice.
You don't think that happens on the court or on the field? May not be as harsh as calling a player "nigger", but there's definitely shit talking in the sound bytes. Only time players get into trouble is if it's recorded somehow in text or on tape.
Wrong. Luis Suarez was banned for eight matches for racial abuse earlier this year on little more evidence than the word of an opposing team member and the fact an FA panel felt that his testimony was the weaker of the two.
John Terry is due in court on a similar racism charge, with only a little extra evidence.
Offensive language like that is taken very seriously from public figures in sport. As it should be.

Okay. Firstly, none of that stuff you mentioned in your new post is relevant. If you want to report someone for BMing that is perfectly fine.
Destiny was on Quantic. As such, he was employed by them, and thus his actions reflected on their brand. Quantic is sponsored by Razer, so whatever Destiny did openly as Destiny reflected upon Quantic and Razer. Streaming to thousands of people and showing to be a racist reflects poorly upon Quantic and Razer, who don't wish to be associated with that kind of behavior.
A random SC2 player on the other hand is probably not openly representing anything. They aren't advertising their name, and for the most part they're anonymous (at least in comparison to Destiny in this situation). You have no idea who their employer is. So if they offend you and then you find out their identity and employer, it's a tiny bit different. Hopefully you understand the difference.
tldr: QuanticDestiny - representing Quantic RandomSC2PlayerGuy - not representing anyone
