As a community we need to get off these players' back. Sure we all want something greater for the game of Starcraft, but I highly doubt things like this are a major factor in its growth. Let the characters be characters, the natural process and growth of the eSports machine will dictate whether they stay or are forced out.

First off, we know Destiny's whole purpose of the BM was to specifically get under the OP's skin, not the whole Korean audience. The problem becomes exactly what you stated above - not everything is offensive to everyone, so it requires more niche words to actually offend the player. You can make fun of my Jewish heritage all day, make the sickest joke references you can imagine, and still, 0 fucks will be given from me. Is it the same to all Jewish people? Probably not. But at the end of the day, Destiny's whole purpose was to offend this player for his play style, which I'm 100% fine with.

Destiny is more of an artist/performer than an player and the racial slurs are a part of his act. So that's it...
|
Has it ever occured to anyone that he could secretly be getting paid by quantic to use "racial slurs" in order to stir up a publicity storm because nothing gets more views and posts than a thread about a player being bm right? What if this whole thing is what he really wanted to happen :o

It's awesome that you also presume to know the race of everyone posting in this thread. Not surprisingly, some people go to the internet to escape being immediately identified as a minority.

It's logically fallacious to infer Destiny is a racist from the fact that he used a racial slur outside of a context in which it would be obviously racist (e.g. if he were giving a speech at a Neo-Nazi rally).

Try using your brain a little. I also edited my post. Words don't make you a racist, it's the intention that does. And I have yet to see Destiny use racist slurs to intentionally offend people of a certain ethnicity, origin, etc. <-- THAT'S what I'd consider racist.

Voted being offended by the thread. We have all made mistakes before - personally I have used some derogatory language that I wish I could take bakc. But the reaction of Destiny in this thread does sadden me.
This thread is about 100 times more offensive than what Destiny said.

They all manage to do it without bigotry. Bigotry does not add a rich dimension to any personality. It just makes you an asshole (and not the likeable kind).
I'm assuming you're not too familiar with these players. Idra? The person who for a while would essentially use faggot every time he lost a game? LastShadow, who verbally taunted Desrow with homophobic slurs and about his weight so much, that Desrow physically attacked him? IdrA has specifically cleaned up his act. He doesn't get to be lumped in with the hateful players anymore. I was not aware of the LastShadow incident. Yeah, because merely expressing how terrible everyone who beats him is in a considerate way is leagues above calling someone a 'nigger.' Makes all kinds of sense. One isn't insulting to an entire group of people who have suffered unthinkable hardship over the course of history, you fucking idiot. Actually, neither are. I'm not even going to entertain the idea that using the word 'nigger' in casual speech is somehow a blanket attack on all black people everywhere. It's just nonsense. What's nonsense is that you think you can rewrite history and that you can define what is and isn't offensive for everyone else.
The meaning of words change. No word has the power to offend an entire race. Being a dick to everyone you beat is just as hateful as spewing random profanities(gook, nigger, fuck, etc.) after losing a game.(In my opinion its worse to be a dick after you win).
In history Nigger was a term people used to remind blacks that they were of a lower class then the people saying it. Now the word is a term of endearment between young black men.
You try to define what is offensive to everyone else just as much as the person you quote when you imply that nigger is offensive to all black people. Being offensive does not equal being racist. I dont know why this concept confuses so many people.

This is kind of a general comment that doesn't really explain the situation.
Internet censorship isn't needed - but Destiny's actions should be taken seriously by the public.
The fact that many of you are saying not to go to his sponsors already says something: That you know that his actions would be deemed unacceptable by Razer. If you thought he didn't do anything wrong in society's eyes, you would have no issue with the complaints.
