I'm assuming you're not too familiar with these players. Idra? The person who for a while would essentially use faggot every time he lost a game? LastShadow, who verbally taunted Desrow with homophobic slurs and about his weight so much, that Desrow physically attacked him?
IdrA has specifically cleaned up his act. He doesn't get to be lumped in with the hateful players anymore.
I was not aware of the LastShadow incident.

I doubt we would be as forgiving as most people are in this thread right now.
I'm pretty sure "tranny" is merely an abbreviation for 'transsexual' and seeing as Scarlett considers herself a 'transgender' individual, I seriously doubt she or anyone else would care.
You can try linking something else though.

people want this scene to grow? first step is professionalism
sponsors dont give money to random amatuers, they give money to professionals
if this scene cant act professionally or hold those accountable who dont then nobody deserves these sponsors - as they arent professionals at all
nobody should feel bad about sending out emails we as a major clientele to these sponsors SHOULD be able to expect a general level of professionalism

I'm of the opinion that words are words. A word cannot be "racist." People are racist. To be a racist means you are a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others.
You cannot arbitrarily assign a value to someone because they use a certain word (in this case, racist). Calling someone a nigger, gook, spick, retard, faggot, whatever doesn't make you a racist/homophobe, but it does make you an asshole.
So personally I won't be writing any hate mails, because I don't think being an asshole should be an actionable offense, but if you're mad that's your best course of action.
As an aside - I would apply the same criteria to orb. I think it was objectively wrong for Orb to be terminated.

Voted being offended by the thread.
We have all made mistakes before - personally I have used some derogatory language that I wish I could take bakc. But the reaction of Destiny in this thread does sadden me.

Good for you, destroy the scene you invested so much time in so 'the man' doesn't get his paycheck What? You expect companies like CBS to actually broadcast games if the competitors use derogatory, inflammatory and racist language? As I said earlier, if people want SC2 to grow bigger (eg. being on television), they have to accept that some acts (eg. racist remarks) are simply unacceptable. You've obviously never even paid ANY attention to Destiny's position on swearing on his stream. Swearing on the ladder, on his stream when only his viewers are watching, is WAY different from a professional game. Destiny has said that there's a time and place for everything - he most DEFINITELY would not play a broadcasted game (esp. if it WERE to be casted on CBS) and swear the way he does. So if LeBron James used derogatory and racist language when not playing NBA games or not making NBA promotional appearances that would be acceptable? Something tells me that Nike wouldn't be too happy. As far as I'm concerned, it should be his own damn business what he says on his own time. The only reason Nike wouldn't be happy is because they don't want to be perceived as endorsing his behaviour, even though the finer points of his contract likely stipulate that his personal life isn't representative of the company. You know who's responsible for this perception? People like you, who think that uttering a word in one context might as well be a signature on a petition to legalize the crucifixion of homosexuals or something equally ridiculous. This isn't a one-time issue - apparently Destiny has no problems using racist language. If Destiny simply apologized for his behaviour I think the community would be more forgiving. Personally I know he is typically very BM, but I haven't seen anything elsewhere that would signify racist or significantly unacceptable behaviour. Everyone makes mistakes. His attitude towards the criticism sickens me though. Especially because I've had that derogatory term used towards me at one point in my life. Destiny has never BMed at an event at which he was representing his sponsors. People are racist. Words are associated with racism. Not all people who use associated words are racist, although racist people tend to use them. Destiny is obviously not expressing his profound hatred of Asians. As a public figure he's always representing his team. I don't believe Destiny hates Asians - I think his use of the word was misguided and not meant as a racial slur. I do think his response to the criticism is absolutely unacceptable though. His response to the criticism is his own fucking opinion, not Quantic's. That's also incorrect. Quantic has chosen to have him on his team. They can't take the good part of Destiny (his appeal to SC2 fans) and not the bad. It may not be the manager's opinion, but Quantic is endorsing his opinion by keeping him on their team without any repercussions. Actually yes they can, and no they're not. Destiny is signed as a player, not as Quantic's personal spokesman. If Destiny were to come out and say he supports Obama, does that mean that Quantic supports Obama because they employ someone who supports Obama? No, because that would be stupid.

Destiny has never BMed at an event at which he was representing his sponsors. So long as he's signed with his team/sponsors he is always representing them. Especially when he has their name/logos on his stream.

He's one Asian. You CAN count that far, right? He speaks for at least one. How many Asians do you speak for? Or for how many afro-americans, or homosexuals? On behalf of how many of those people are you offended?

If you ACTUALLY BELIEVE that ONE RACE is SUPERIOR to another - you are an IGNORANT FUCKING LUNATIC.
THE ONLY reason that these words were EVER offensive was the CONTEXT IN WHICH THEY WERE USED.
Its fucking 2012 - the most fucking offensive term these days in the US is probably "sandnigger" because racist fucking lunatics actually think that people of Middle-Eastern/Arabic descent are inferior. And that's just pure, dumb, stupid, ignorance. And honestly it stems from the fact that these idiots are pants-shitting xenophobics. They are SO AFRAID of a group of people that they resort to dehumanizing them.
That makes you a racist. It also makes you a fucking dumbass.
Do you HONESTLY BELIEVE that Destiny is like "Oh God, not another Korean! I hate these guys, they all look alike and they've got no Seoul cause they Seould it to get good at SC!"?
If so than you're fucking dumb. Seems suspicious that he happened to land on the word "gook" while playing vs. a korean huh? A lot of the time people throw the term "nigger" around at everyone, not just black people. It doesn't matter who he was facing; it was just a word he used. Oh, so he just happened to say "gook" against someone who clearly had an Asian name twice(the other case being on LoL)? That doesn't seem very likely. No, he definitely picked gook because of the Asian name. But a lot fo white players use pseudo-Asian names occasionally. He was not trying to personally offend the OP, he was just raging and picked a word that he deemed suitable. He wasn't trying to personally offend an Asian person... by telling them "Fuck off gook"? You must realize how ridiculous that sounds.
People try to just troll and get under each others skin by using words they know will offend people. You can't not know this.
Edit: my point was that this doesn't make someone a racist for using one word to get a rise out of a person.

Since when is the concept of an e-sports professional supposed to be any different than a professional in any other area? And since when do you need a degree to know what professionalism is?
And since when is Destiny a professional?

^ please look at the bolded part of the post, it's bolded for a reason not so your eyes can admire the slightly increased thickness of the letters but for emphasis
I just told my Asian friend on skype that some guy on the internet said the word gook, I was expecting him to break down into tears but he didn't he just told me he didn't give 2 shits it's the internet

Man how many times is this going to happen, we might as well round up everyone on the internet for being rude and put them in jail. Most people don't even care about who he offended they just want to see another internet figure fall to their hands.

Umm...yes it is. Are the lines between a "slur" and "not a slur" really so blurry for so many people? It's rather childish the way he lashes out at a loss and it would probably be an improvement for him to handle them better, but it's not even comparable to calling someone a faggot and a gook.

I think we should only let nice people play this game. Give out some sort of license maybe and make a thread to list things that people can talk about. And then if someone doesn't adhere to the list of things we like, we can go to their homes and lynch them. Right?
No I don't think it's necessary language but Christ we're going a little overboard with this shit. And frankly, doing that makes us a much larger liability to the scene.
Do we have more posts in here than actual people who watch that stream yet?
