Is he intentionally racist? Probably not.
Is he institutionally racist? Yes.
The difference? He says racist things because he lives in a culture that is okay with saying those things aloud--it isn't with malicious intent that he says those things.
Is it still a problem? Yes.
Is the problem with Destiny? No--the problem is with the community he is in.
What community is that? American gamers.
How do you fix American gamers? Fix america.
That sounds stupid. Because it is.

No, this is exactly what EG hated about the orb situation. This is Quantic's problem and contacting their sponsor harms the entire eSports scene, contact Quantic directly instead. If you're one of the people considering doing this DON'T.

This community will never grow if we don't call this kind of garbage out. So you saying Destiny are killing Esports!!? Nope. I'm saying racial/ethnic/homophobic slurs will cause issues with the growth of the community, regardless of who says them. What about a useless post meant to defame a public figure while hidding its true purpose under a political correct theme. I think that would be a greater threat to the community? So if you guys keep up with this we might get to a point where people are so affraid of saying anything becuase of the horde of angry jealous dramaqueens who would rather want to create drama instead of watching starcraft games. You mean to say people might be held accountable for what they say like other public figures? Ahh so if you are a public figure you not alowed to be human and do mistakes. Gotcha. Seriously im so sick of this community. You are graving for drama 24/7 and if there isnt some kind of drama hell we will just create something. Uhhh, noone said he wasn't allowed to 'be human and do mistakes'. It's not like this is a one-off, dude. Nothing about what I said insinuated he wasn't allowed that. I'm just curious as to why you think it should be promoted and why he shouldn't be held accountable for what he says? Not a loaded question at all.

No dammit, the same issue was brought up before. At least give QxG a chance to respond before e-mailing sponsors, which are so pivotal in the growth of the scene at this point.
There's the old saying that gets tossed around 'hurting esports', but directly e-mailing sponsors as a knee jerk reaction to something you don't like is actually potentially so harmful to the scene. Please, at least wait.

If the community is aware of the effect this has on sponsorships, then teams will avoid signing players with baggage in the future.

As a well known SC2 player, Destiny represent the SC2 community.
Additionally, he represents Razer and Quantic Gaming.
We should put aside our personal biases and see this as a case of such a representative using a racial slur within the context of his professional work.
Realistically, Destiny should be expelled from Quantic Gaming, and sponsorship pulled by Razer.
SC2 has a reputation for relative politeness when compared with other gaming communities. Destiny's actions, and those who defend the use of such racial slur, are equally culpable in dragging SC2 in a direction which helps nobody, and harms the community in spirit and reputation.

Lol, I'm offended! So because some people have less than 100 posts their opinion is worthless? Most people above 100 posts are the ones that have to say something about everything, everyone should know their opinions. So in comparison, your post here is less worth because you have made so many posts in total (see how that makes as much sense?). I don't speak up that often, although I've followed discussions on this forum for a long time, so say what you want about my <100 posts. Destiny is funny when he rages and like everyone can notice, he isn't serious about the things he says and doesn't lie about saying those things. Half this community rages hard on ladder and bm's all the time, should we now pull off a witchhunt on them by making a blacklist of those people? I mean come on, loosen up a little. Best friends call each other names for fun, because they know it doesn't mean shit. To OP, if you would actually try to bond with destiny by acknowledging you play cheesy, you actually would like him. Instead, you play like a dick and rub it in people's faces by throwing out an aggressive gg, in my eyes, you're as bad as destiny. Whole this thread ins't necessary...

Well he responded to my post regarding other public figures, so I assume there's a reason for that aside from it just being 'a mistake'. The promotion part was my mistake, really. I'd made another post regarding that and with all the quotes I got a bit confused. Still, without the promotion aspect it's a valid question I would've thought.

Because, of course, QxG was unaware of this issue before? I'm trying not to take a stance for or against, but this line of logic doesn't make sense. I think if the user genuinely feels the way he does, his action is fine. QxG is well aware of all of this and was when they signed him.

Horrible team.
As for the above comment and many others, in nearly every foreign team popularity > everything. They are a business, there's a reason Quantic hires people like Destiny and that's definatly not because of his skill.

Really? Orb is just as much a part of this community as Destiny is. Excusing Destiny's actions simply because he is a player isn't an excuse to permit this. He too should be responsible for his actions. If you're going to crucify one guy for doing the same thing as another, you should hold both to the same standard, regardless of how much you like either person.

Destiny fanboys are fucking hilarious. Can't wait for this scum to disappear from our scene. Oh it's "our" scene? What do you contribute to it exactly? I know that Destiny has contributed a lot more than you did. Funny to hear you calling him scum yet you're offended by what he says? Cool logic bro. That being said, I'm not a fan of his racial slurs and I'd rather if he stopped using them but who the hell am I to tell him wtf he should or shouldn't do? I don't have to watch him if I don't want to.
Scum is a racist slur now?
Saying our does not in any way imply that I contribute more than he does. We are all a part of the SC2 community, believe it or not.
