support-us@razersupport.com No. Do not do this. It hurts the scene rather than makes the situation better. Take your emails to Quantic instead. lol how does it hurt the scene if idiots dont get sponsor anymore? How about they stop sponsoring new people since they view the risks of negative backlash being to high for it to be worth it?
Yes, so let's hide every bad quality of the community from them. That couldn't possibly backfire.

I noticed they are getting sponsored by Razer. Here is their email support-us@razersupport.com. No dammit, the same issue was brought up before. At least give QxG a chance to respond before e-mailing sponsors, which are so pivotal in the growth of the scene at this point. There's the old saying that gets tossed around 'hurting esports', but directly e-mailing sponsors as a knee jerk reaction to something you don't like is actually potentially so harmful to the scene. Please, at least wait. You know what? If we're going to be a community that harbors racism and homophobia, then we don't deserve sponsors. All the figure heads freaked out when we emailed EG's sponsors because they saw their incomes evaporating. But if they're going to tolerate that stuff, then their incomes should evaporate. If QxG is going to continue to let Destiny behave that way, then a financial incentive is the only thing that's going to get them to control him.
Harboring racists and homophobic people? Dude do you live under a rock? Are you fucking 12? It blows my mind that people like you exist still. Bet you voted for Obama too right?

Is he institutionally racist? Yes.
The difference? He says racist things because he lives in a culture that is okay with saying those things aloud--it isn't with malicious intent that he says those things.
Is it still a problem? Yes.
Is the problem with Destiny? No--the problem is with the community he is in.
What community is that? American gamers.
How do you fix American gamers? Fix america.
That sounds stupid. Because it is. This is actually a rather cogent post. Well said. actually it's totally off-base, speech like this is not accepted in american society. where it is accepted is the gamer community, not just the american gamer community but the global community.
That's precisely what I drew out of the post, actually. I just assumed he was being specific to America because that is the context here, an American player.
Trust me, I am the last last last last last person to ever be PC sensitive. I think our culture is WAY overly PC sensitive. However, I do think there are words and terms that CLEARLY cross the line, such as extreme racial slurs. It's not a difficult line to draw.

Destiny's behavior is by no means professional by my standards, but I'm not the one paying him. If Quantic is fine with his behavior, then that's their prerogative. I'm not in a position to critique Quantic on what they should or shouldn't do. Also, Orb wasn't dismissed from EG for solely racist remarks. He also lied to the management about the situation, explicitly stating multiple times that it wasn't him who made the racist comments and verbally abusing everyone who argued otherwise.
However, as a TL community member with some say on matters (regardless of how small that voice may be), I feel that Destiny shouldn't be a featured streamer. His behavior is not reflective of the values I would like to see on this site.

Seriously guys, all-ins are part of the game, so if you're like "you all-in'd him, so you deserve to be trashtalked", then just quit SC2 is not for you.

@OP: I bet Destiny is glad you posted this, because you're giving him more viewers right now. If famous actor insults you on the street you're going to report it to the newspaper? Hilarious ^^

Imah hit up the sponsors too, since QxG or TL, will just let this and his attitude slide. Its true though, you punish orb, but Destiny gets away with it?

Woah, I never expected this. Yeah this really isn't anything special ;p If he personally came up to you and called you a gook then I can understand how that is offensive because he would know if you were Asian or not. But its over the internet, you are just some random faceless kid and he choose such an insult because of this. You have to think why a word is being said. Is it being said because it simply releases frustration? i.e calling someone a cocksucker doesn't actually imply that they suck a lot of penis. Its just a way to vent. Destiny knew he was Asian, by his ID HANDAEDGUK.
It was an open racist attack. It happens all the time in the world. but coming from a professional SC2 player. it is kind of shocking.

You guys really want to stop being insulted by this racist? Stop paying attention to him.
|
You aren't actually hurt from destiny's comments, you're just crying because you want attention. Any starcraft 2 player who is emotionally damaged by destiny insulting them on the internet needs to get over themselves. And you did 1 base terran all-in against him....if I ran teamliquid, that would be a bannable offense.
|
Oh come on you faggot gook, its just words.
(BTW if I get banned from this, Destiny should get unfeatured.)

I think that anyone that picks up Destiny and puts him on their team, knows what they are getting, and does it anyway because of his popularity.

You're assuming the backlash can be avoided in the future. How long until destiny says something like this in a situation where sc2 has more visibility?

Actual players like Kobe Bryant have used terms also seen in the OP to very little repercussion.

well he did threaten to kill someone (Hellspawn) in his sleep. So where do we rate death threats on our level of outrage meter? Is it at the "Top upvoted on r/starcraft' or the nuclear 'email sponsors, spam twitter' level?

"if idiots dont get sponsor anymore" I think what you dont understand is that the sponsors sponsor the TEAM, not the individual player.
Teams are responsible for their players behavior in the public eye no? Quantic is complicit in all of Destiny's behavior.

Yes. In any competitive sport in the US, this would be a massive PR disaster for any personality or player. If it weresomeone who derived a majority of his success from his personality and not his playing, it could very well be career ending. There is a reason for this. Whether you want to accept that reality or simply deal with the perception is your choice, but it is not something the gaming community can ignore if it wants to go mainstream.

hello people. do you guys understand the meaning of professionalism and responsibility? Destiny is not like you. he is a professional SC2 player. He is held to a different standard to us ordinary people. That why this racist slur was unnacceptable.
