If you are earnestly offended and takes it as a personal attack, beforehand you could try to pm or email the person, before making an unnecessary scene. Would be a shame if Destiny quits because he has a stream with music that does not make my stomach turn. For a lot of people what kind of music they listen to can be a deal breaker. Attacking him personally in public says a few things about your character. I do not personally watch the stream for what he has to say or the verbal interactions, but the gameplay. Its clear this particular discussion is people getting mired in their own point of view not respecting each other. Whatever your view you should atleast tolerate others, you do not have to respect them. Posting one liners or derailing is disrespectful to the forum and makes it cluttered. | ||

Racial slurs have been historically tainted in hate and prejudice. Instead of asking people to break the connection between words and their historical past, wouldn't it make more sense to ask people to stop using them? | ||

This being said, this isn't anything new for Destiny, though I do agree we need to condemn the use of the word I don't want to condemn the player. Similarly, Destiny himself doesn't care so its not as though this thread will really accomplish anything. Quantic hired him knowing full well who Destiny is as well. In the end this thread is just trying to pull out more pitchforks and stir up more drama. Also, I think everyone needs to calm down and stop worrying about the issue in the following way: This thread isn't here to debate the moral, ethical, or sociological reasons behind saying or not saying certain words. Its about Destiny's use of words that are considered to be racial slurs. So the debate can't really devolve into posters bashing eachother because its just off topic and its going to do nothing but make everyone more mad at eachother. | ||
