I'm sure he feels unbelievably bad right now and he needs to know this isn't the end of the world even though it may feel like it is. I just don't see that EG have any real choice except to fire him. If they don't, I would imagine that the negative publicity for them and their sponsors would be much more widespread than TL / Reddit etc. | ||

I assume what the OP is implying is that since Orb is starting to become a figure in the realm of casting, that he should be held to a higher standard when he's playing solo, not associating himself with any broadcasts. That's a pretty bold statement. I'd be interested to hear what others think of that. Offhand, I feel like as long as he keeps it professional and clean in his casting (which he has in every single broadcast I've seen, he is easily my favorite non-top name caster), there's no need for pitchforks when he rages and calls names in his personal games. The only counterargument that has any weight, as far as I see it, is that in the realm of "real sports," such comments going on record for a commentator even when he is not actively commentating a game would be a death wish. Perhaps if the eSports scene truly does wish to model itself after more traditional sports, does truly aspire to broadcast on live tv outside East Asia, we should strive to keep such high standards. | ||

I wish people would stop this, personally though, he shouldn't be using that language on stream when he is related to EG, it does slander their name, this isn't like Idra rage, this is unprofessional, unless EG allows this behavior, which personally, I don't see this staining EG, EG has always been known more as the bad boys in the industry anyway. | ||

Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing but that doesn't mean you're free of the consequences of your speech. If Orb ever casts again, the chat will be constant N word references. He'll always be known (as South Park puts it) as "that nigger guy". Every time I see his face, it will be difficult to take him seriously or not think of the controversy. Is anyone really going to want him casting their games now? Can he serve as the face of an organization now? I do not think so, and that's simply the reality of a "public" figure using the N word and getting caught. | ||
