Hey there guys,
My Coworker and I at work had a debate. He believes that LoL is requires more skill than SC2. He believes its harder, faster paced, and is just overall A BETTER GAME.
The argument finally boiled down to "which game is more skill based" (which requires more skill, practice, effort, and determination to become really GOOD)
His points:
- LoL is team based, team based gameplay takes more skill and coordination (this is his number 1 argument.
- "Oh well starcraft is way easier because I got to platinum when all I had to do was 4 gate, it was so easy that I quit!"
- Starcraft has boring start that is repetative, LoL you have to be doing things right off the get go (checking people items, missing in actions, team strategies and communcation.
- You have to learn tons of heroes moves and builds in order to know when it is time to strike
My points:
- Starcraft has micro AND macro, while LoL is only micro
- Starcraft you have to manage more than 1 unit and each race has tons of abilities
- his third argument is void because he didn't have to scout when 4 gating, therefore he didn't know the importance of scouting or early game harass
- LoL is more based on knowledge (much like WoW) because you have to how to fight every single hero, with every single abilility, with every single item differently. Rather than just knowledge, starcraft is more based on fast hand movement (APM), reaction time, and multitasking
SO! I would do a poll, but having it on the starcraft 2 section, with me arguing against LoL, it would be too biased. So rather than that , just leave comments expressing why each one is more skillful than the other. (try and crush his argument that LoL is more skillful purely because its team based)
EDIT: PLEASE DONT SAY ITS LIKE COMPARING AN APPLE TO AN ORANGE, THEY ARE BOTH COMPUTER GAMES, THEY ARE BOTH E-SPORTS, AND I JUST WANNA WIN THE ARGUMENT

I can see this thread going places.

I think Starcraft 2 requires more skill because it's impossible for me to jerk off while playing, where as I can spank my meat playing LoL, and still own bitches.

I dont even know how you can think a DOTA game requiere more skill than a RTS.
If you want to counter argue him, tell him Platinium by 4gate is like 900 ELO playing a flavor of the month hero.
But in the end, the skill required for teamgame is not exactly the same as a duel type game.

SC2 is definitely more engaging and fun. In fact, every other game I play seems to lack the correct pacing unless it is an exploratory-RPG type game (skyrim) or other non-action based game. Yeah, shooters give some of the action for a minimal effort but SC2 40 minute macro games with action from 5 minutes on to the end is intense!! Playing other RTS makes it feel like I'm fighting the UI more than the enemy itself when I'm macroing.
LoL and other moba games require really tight micro and knowledge to play competitively and good communication. In a sense it is strategy for teams with some solo-specs like getting out of ganks alive and whatnot. However it is too team-dependent imo.

He thinks LoL requires more skill because he knows more about LoL. He's barely scratched the surface of SC2, and he thinks that's it. From his perspective, he feels he's having a harder time in LoL while knowing more, compared to his time in platinum in SC2 where he didn't need to know anything.

sc2 way more skill enough said

I play both and SC2 requires way more skill imo.

Do we really need this kind of thread here, because I think we don't. Futhermore this should rather go to blog post than in sc2 forum. >_>

Yeh but TBH ive only scratched the surface of LoL, so i also made this to be enlightened WHY he feels its SO MUCH more skillful. Its not like he thinks its slightly more skillful, he thinks Starcraft requires HALF the skill. I wanna know why he would think that, maybe hes just a stubborn internet hero trolling me
