I can't believe this still is needed but religious and gun control side discussions will be met with harsh penalties from page 52 and onwards. |

It's not 'obviously muslims' that perpetrated this particular bomb. It's likely, yes, but there are many instances where bombings get wrongly attributed, despite it being 'obvious' who did it. Proof that you COULD be wrong includes:
Northern Ireland, 1969: A bomb blows up a power station in Northern Ireland. It gets attributed to the Irish Republican Army, and the fallout discredits and topples the relatively liberal unionist government of Terence O'Neill, and he's replaced with William Craig, a hardline loyalist. The perpetrators of the bombing turn out to be the Ulster Volunteer Force, loyalist extremists, who would welcome Craig in preference to O'Neill, and whose politics were diametrically opposed to the IRA.
Bologna, Italy 1982. A terrorist bomb kills hundreds of people at a Bologna train station. It's blamed on left-wing extremists, and the police and government launch a crackdown. The bombing later turns out to have been the work of far-right fascists (possibly working with the Italian intelligence services).
Oklahoma bombing, 1995. A bomb rips through a federal government building in Oklahoma City and kills a huge number of people. The press blames Muslim extremists. The culprit turns out to be right-wing American Christian militia members.
Madrid bombing, 2004. A bomb blows up a train and kills hundreds of people, shortly before the 2004 Spanish General election. The government blames ETA, Basque Seperatist guerrillas. The culprit turns out to be Al Qaeda.
As I say, it's likely that muslim radicals planted this bomb, but it's also very possible they didn't, and overzealously blaming bombings on the wrong perpetrators can often have very harmful effects.

I wonder who did this and why.. Hopefully there wont be many casualties. Luckily my only relative in Oslo is safe.

Works fine here. Think tv2 sends from Bergen, but they got office in Oslo to.

they would attack stations ... basically any choke point with a lot of joe bloggses heading off to a normal days work.
they want to make the public feel afraid of what their government is doing and in so doing coerce a change in poilicy and generate sympathy through empathy ... attacking the government doesn't really have the same effect because to some degree they are guilty ... unlike Mr Smith the local grocer. I don't know. Attacking the general public I feel pushes the country together, such as everyone standing behind Bush after 9/11. Attacking the government I feel(you can see examples of this in just this thread) is more likely to make the general public question their government. Especially for a country that has not been attacked by terrorism before(afaik?).

atleast 2 people is dead.

Oslo Central station evacuated

a friend of mine was in the area, and he took the bus from that very same street, and when he was on the bus the explosion happened.... I guess he got lucky huh

Oh shit, be safe and get away from the scene incase of any other hidden bombs

The mods seriously should start cracking down on bigotted and ignorant comments in this thread. It's painful to see how people abandon all civility when these kinds of things happen

Scrolled right by it on Aftonbladet.se without realizing it wasn't in the middle east...
If I believed in god, I'd pray for you. Now you'll just get a forum post, should have about the same effect on your safety
Oh and thanks to whoever did this for fueling the fires of the racist parties in scandinavia ^^ It would almost make sense for the parties to fake terrorist attacks just to get the peoples support :/

Make sure everyone who cares about you knows that you are safe. When the London bombings occured their targeted the tube line that I was using several times per week and a lot of my friends freaked out.
