Probably a mistake from their part, that shouldn't have been on the article, at least not yet.

It kind of ruins your ladder rythm when you are dumped into a 45 minute game ZvP on that map where the P basically just turtles the shit out of their natural and 3rd while the Z spreads creep all over the map. Seriously, I'm glad I'm not zerg. If I had to spread creep on tal'darem 3 games in a row, I might just punch a hole into my monitor. (I use to play zerg in broodwar, I think creep spread is one of the dumbest fucking mechanics in the game). Boy, you're SO right. I had to veto Tal Darim just because of that kind of problem, in the current map pool it's so different from the other maps that it really messes your rhythm up. I love playing on it once in a while, but only if I'm willing to and I'm facing an opponent of my same level of skill (nothing worse than getting smashed or roflstomp somebody in a 30 minutes game there...), so while it's my favourite map to watch games on, I really can't stand playing more than one game per evening on it. It is also a very difficult map for a zerg to play on, as your opponent will be on three bases more often than not, and this needs from you a completely different approach to the matchup, as your eventual fourth base won't be as gamechanging as a third base against a two base opponent. I often feel like it's a map made for macro, but you need to be more aggressive and pushing more timing attacks there than in other maos, just to secure a good mid and late game position.

Oh, WHEW That's a relief ![]() Ok that makes sense, he probably just looked at it and felt it looked like Metal and started to make some smart sounding shit up. Also, good point guys, if there were any major balance changes it would be 1.4, but I still think there's room for a couple small balance/bug fixes. Also, nice Toy Story image xD

Also, I hope that if they plan on putting in another GSL map or replace Tal'Darim, that we will get to see what it is in the PTR.

Well, they never said those were the ONLY new maps....it was a "preview", not a "reveal". Probably it is them all, of course. I don't expect "4 Blizz maps oh and by the way Terminus", but that'd be the most epic troll Blizz has ever done.

I am concerned about these maps (the difficulty taking a third), but I do have to note that a lot of the analysis done by the pros when Backwater, Slag, and Typhon were added did not prove to reflect the gameplay on these maps. Catz, et. al played games on them and predicted how the MUs would play out. I recall them suggesting that Backwater Gulch would be a 4-gate fest. The map has not turned into a 4-gate fest (the changed ramp probably has something to do with that). And while I have Slag Pits vetoed, I am amazed by the number of pro-streamed games that have led to the taking of the golds and other mains as third bases. t';dr Maps do structurally encourage certain types of game play. However, players are creative and often defiant in doing things on maps that don't immediately seem logical or possible.

At least angle and distance wise, they are as reasonable as the GSL maps we love. If they were any closer, they'd be connected to the naturals.
