i see people posting stuff from a bad bad frame where the goal of this thread should be to learn stuff and not to insult .. hard on a web forum, i know. from my pov squattincassanova has made the most effort to give information, if some of it comes from the wrong mindset (attention needing), it should not matter at all since the readers frame should be a stronger one which should be able to ignore it. as opposed to get angry and talk bad about him .. if you have information share it and discuss about it. the last two post had nothing to give to this thread for example... | ||

The flaw in your argument is that you frame these issues within a wider range of people than it actually applies. There's no question the PUA community has some stupid fucked up shit, like any industry out there. However the notion that you shouldn't analyze, study or work on improving your social skills or the way you communicate and interact with the opposite sex is completely comedic in its own right. The vast majority of people in this world have absolutely no clue when it comes to social skills because nobody teaches it. The education system, for example, prides itself on its ability to "prepare you for the real world", yet, the real world is a social place, and not one class in school is dedicated to developing your social skills. If the world is a social place - which is it - than it can only be assumed it would be of extreme importance to have the best social skills you can. I would be absolutely stunned and amazed if you could argue anything otherwise, and even more so, if you even have an opinion that was contrary to such. Do I think the PUA community misses the boat in many ways? Absolutely without a doubt. It was built for nerds, and built, much like other industries, to continue to be a profitable money machine. But that is not to say there are not aspects of it that are of incredible value. If you have spent any time meeting people who study it you would be able to see the vast majority of guys involved have great intentions and only want to improve their social skills and meet a cool girl that they can have a HEALTHY relationship with. They no longer want to live under the motto that you are the hand you were dealt, and you cannot change your social situation. Think the world has a good grasp on its social side? Just look at divorce rates. They aren't going down. Think the social relationship you have with your partner in a marriage is absolutely critical? To say anything otherwise would be ignorant. Something I learned very early on that has been insanely true in my life is that in business, when there's an issue, it's rarely a problem with the PERSON and more so a problem with the system. I find this true in PUA as well. It's hard to blame guys that get involved into becoming who they do because the methodology is designed that way. They come into it with the best intentions in mind because THEY ARE ALL GOOD GUYS. The problem happens when they follow a system that is absolutely critically flawed and, without knowing better, they go through the system. It's not that they are bad people, it's that the system is bad. It's not that the reason they got into it is bad, it's that the system is bad. Growing up you are constantly taught to develop options in your life. You are told to go to school and get good grades. Why? So you have OPTIONS for university and can pick the best school for you. I do think that it's very very silly to read books and take lesson on getting better "social skills". Like seriously? How juvenile is that? Reading books on how to "talk to people" and "make friends" . . . . I can't take that very seriously. While I don't have any experience with such things, nor do I plan on pursuing any, I get the impression that these books only teach superficial things and appeal to insecure people who are not comfortable with who they are. Like you said, the whole PUA thing was designed to make money off of nerds who are insecure and want girls. Will reading a book and approaching twenty girls at some club with "techniques" and shit get them anywhere? No. It won't. They'll STILL be vastly insecure and, in fact, so insecure, that they'll post their "results" and flaunt them so other nerds can give them much craved attention and approval. And as for girls with self-respect . . . if they really do respect themselves, they don't need other people's approval or interactions with other people to fortify their confidence.
