Seems to me that she was confused because she complimented you and you were obviously way too cool to accept a compliment from *gasp* a religious person (ew!!) You have as much reason to presume she was reacting to your apparent atheism as to the colour of your skin. srsly, l2communicationz lol you didn't even hear how her voice sounded.. it sounded like she wanted to kill me On March 17 2011 14:48 prototype. wrote: Guys... this is the same idiot that wants to rape girls and brutally murder ppl http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewpost.php?post_id=8266249 Not surprised by his actions at all... One opinion in a situation doesn't always directly show how they'll act in another. In any case, I don't care much for religion myself either, and when people say those type of things I say thanks and move on. I normally don't notice. But I do find it incredibly rude when people say things like "go to hell" because I tell them i'm not interested. It's not like I don't know anything about it or hate it, I just have no interest in something without a more substantial basis. I have my beliefs and i'm alright with that. I spent a lot of my high school reading about different religions, checking into different things, because faith is important, whether it's in a God or in yourself. But I don't think you should have said that it doesn't matter to you. What is trash to one person is the world to another, and they will defend it as they see fit. Although it is obvious you don't care for it, you could have just said thanks, and moved on. I had an ex before who would jump down my throat when I told him I wasn't interested in Christianity or in anything of the sort. But he was an overdramatic fool. :3

Truth is, i dont believe in a higher power or heaven and hell or whatever religious people may believe, but just as i respect the fact that they do. My girlfriend for example loves to say 'its a sign from jesus he is looking after you' when things go right and 'its all part of gods plan for you things will get better' when things go wrong. Truth be told, i think it hypocritical bullshit but the fact remains, she doesnt, and nothing gives me the right to shut her down when she says things that are meant to be encouraging. I believe in facts. She has faith. To be quite honest having faith ir a much better quality to have and i would probably still marry her in a church in front of a priest without hesitation. Simple reason being that her religious beliefs are much less of an inconvenience to me that mine are to her. Now for fuck sake, that lady paid you a compliment. If it was so much of an inconvenience to say thank you, have a nice day because you dont believe in a deity, you really are some kind of selfish. Cashier isnt the right job for you. Its because of intolerent shit like that, that religious wars have been fought. Why cant you just learn to accept what people believe?

it does seem this lady overreacted though... maybe not if you spoke to her in a condescending manner but if you didn't then whatever, ignore her and move on.

When she said god bless you or whatever else, what did you think? Honestly, what did you think? Just because you're not getting the sympathy you want, or getting whatever it is you want from this blog post.. :/ You handled things poorly. Just deal with it and move on. Take note.

You rejected a compliment to your character by not even thanking your -customer-, then try to act the victim lol? If someone compliments you and you give a noncommittal response, most normal people are going to ask if you're alright. Then, instead of saying something like "oh thanks, come again!", you start on about your own views on religion? Religion is nothing but a minor component in this, the entire situation could (and should) have been avoided by your minding your own business and remembering that you are an employee of a company, which is not a role in which you should be disagreeing with a customer (paying customer, I might add), nor should you be so rude to a woman who pays you a compliment on your character. Tbh I'm really disappointed that you can't see how far you are in the wrong here...I've never liked the whole age argument and won't use it here, but ![]() ![]() ![]()

Take religion out of the story... You go to somewhere, get good service, pay the person a thoughtful compliment, and he responds with 'meh whatever' (because thats basically what you did). Then when you ask that guy wtf? He makes an attack at your character however unintentional and basically tells you that your compliment means jackshit because you have stupid beliefs. How would you react? I can almost guarentee you that lady was thinking that, even though you didnt mean it that way

Just nod, say thank you and move on. It's not a question of religion, it's her blessing you with her appreciation and then you don't give the decency to properly acknowledge it. Your arrogance and need to portray your dislike or disinterest in religion is astoundingly childish. Why don't you consider the whole scene and not look for others to sympathize and agree with you. Let me reiterate the story for you :3 : "Thank you kind young sir for your great service, and God bless you that you still care for the customers and make sure all is well while they visit your store/service" "DONT SPREAD YOUR CHRISTIAN PROPAGANDA ALL OVER ME YOU HAG, BARK BARK BARK, IM AN ATHEIST IM GOING TO DISREGARD YOUR COMPLIMENT BECAUSE IT CAME IN A FORM I DONT PERSONALLY BELIEVE IN BARK BARK BARK On March 17 2011 15:02 Alexson wrote: lol you didn't even hear how her voice sounded.. it sounded like she wanted to kill me That was my friend trying to troll. A good number of the people responding here are atheists. I'm sure every one of them has heard someone say "god bless you" or "thank god for x" or whatever, so I don't think you can play this off as some sort of unique experience.

You don't just say your opinion and then expect for them to stay quiet. Religious care more about their religion than atheists care about being atheist. Well at least you ought to expect them too. Because if God does exist than it is the most important thing there is, but if he does not exist and you believe that to be true, than you should not care about the fact that he doesn't exist. I mean if God doesn't exist how can you even be mad at this Lady? It is like your imposing some sort of morality on her that she "ought" to live up to. If God does not exist than morality is relative. If your an atheist you have to accept all the philosophies that it demands. If your not willing to accept those then you might want to give the whole thing another look.
