Well, the title says it all. I was quite shocked when the CG cinematics in Starcraft and they were quite grainy with pretty bad overall IQ. I mean, the HD youtube version of the "Ghosts of the past" trailer absolutely destroys the on-disc cinematic quality.
Now, I can see some issues with space constraints on the disc and the expo bringing us something much better in this regard but I feel it would be nice to have the option to download a real HQ cinematics pack from somewhere.
Anyone with me on that?

I haven't finished the game yet but so far a bit disappointed. Was expecting War3 level stuff, not this ingame cut scenes.

they have 4 insanely good cutscenes throughout. the opening one, the fighting one in the cave, and the betrayal and the closing one. the rest use the ingame engine. really its unrealistic to think they would make 30+ minutes worth of full cg footage. what more do you want? and besides if you watch the vids in highquality everything looks pretty good to me.

The OP is literally talking to retards that can't read.
He's not talking about the fucking game engine cinematics - he's saying that the CG ones were not of particularly high resolution. In regard to the OP, I doubt that they will rerelease a HQ version of the cinematics - it's really a shame.

Really? I didn't notice this when I played through the game.
If you go into video settings there's an option where you can toggle the cg movie quality between low and high. You should check to make sure yours didn't default to low quality.

I think the pre-made cutscenes were really great, but I got a 1680X1050 monitor, perhaps it grainy in full HD?

bad overall IQ.
To be fair, this is a problem that's present throughout all aspects of the campaign ^_^.

They had at least 10 cutscenes for each of their previous games (maybe except Lord of Destruction) and SC2 gets a lousy 4? The ones we got are still great but I was expecting a little more after waiting that long. The story was an even bigger disappointment. Not that I wanted anything overly amazing. A simple and enjoyable rampage with a few colorful characters instead of this confusing mess would have been just fine.

SC1's cutscenes were more plentiful, but shorter individually. I don't mind the way it's done in SC2.

Well, maybe ten was a bit overshot but if I didn't miscount none of the games had less than seven (almost twice as many), not even considering that two of the four were already heavily used for promotion. I don't really mind, though, because they're still very well done. I suppose the bad overall storytelling actually detracts more from the experience. The SC2 cinematics only loosely fit around the sketchy plot as opposed to being able to consolidate it.
