Oh yeah! Edit: For real content, after thinking this through I'm in the camp of the Facebook conspiracy theorists. Blizzard has had a long time to deal with trolling and there are methods that are just as effective like having a single accountname to post with on the forums and actually enforcing their policies. This is how I think it went down Mr. Kotick: Blizzard we struck a deal with Facebook which will make us tons of money, we're going to make battlenet and Blizzard games into a social network. Blizzard: But we make games? Mr. Kotick: Games, whatever. We need to do what makes most profit. Now implement real names on the forums. Blizzard: People won't like that. Mr. Kotick: I don't really care. We calculated this and we estimate that a max of 20000 people will cancel and the Facebook deal will make us more money than a few lost subscriptions. Blizzard: There will be people that have genuine concerns like employment, stalking, minors etcetera. Is what we doing ethical? Mr. Kotick:Fuck ethics. Fuck those people. Fuck those with unique names. Fuck stalker victims. Fuck them all. We need to maximize profit. You think people will really care? Blizzard: Yes. Mr. Kotick: Ok, just tell them it's to reduce trolling. Those dumb WoW users will certainly fall for that and anyone that mentions the Facebook deal just call them paranoids. | ||
