but really, time to maybe start another discussion:

Players List Who Haven't Qualified (big name people that most would consider favorites):
Chosen, Machine, G5, Yosh, Day[9], Artosis (am I missing anybody?)

There are just 4 qualifiers left, with 6 players that I listed who *probably* barring some kind of upset will be winning the remaining qualifiers.

This means two people will get left out, assuming no upsets.

Who will get left out?! Discuss

(I heard G5 might not be participating this year?...)

I don't see artosis qualifying sadly.. he is so busy AND on korean time + he isn't playing as much so he isn't a guarantee even if he makes it to em all. G5 will be available for the last 2 or so.. I see him trying and probably making it. Yosh could win one easily if he played it through.. haven't spoken/heard from him at all so I have no idea if that will happen. Machine is a workoholic but I think he will get one. Chosen will get one... the big question is if he will break his addiction to 3 month spurts of bw, if he doesn't he will qualify and end up ditching finals. Day[9] is a wildcard.. he has what it takes to win one but he has also been losing in each of these.

There is no doubt in my mind that I should be able to get the current admin fired, if I could speak to the right people. Laurent is a faggot, but first and foremost, I just want these tourneys to be ran properly; WCG is the biggest tourney for USA SC players, this should not have to be an issue.

So, instead of building a case versus someone when it could easily be futile, regardless of what the case is -- my proposition is this: Have a volunteer from the tl.net community (can not have any ties to the players in the finals) and have him become the designated admin for the final day (anything pertaining to the finals). This would mean that if the players request a postponement, the designated admin is in charge of gathering the players' confirmation of any changes, and notifying the players of this. We shall not go by the guidelines times as the official ones. There should be no official WCG time until the brackets have been changed, period. No games should take place in the finals without the designated admin being there (unless all 4 players are there and ready).

This is simply a notion I want to start, i.e., modifications can be made.

The admin hasn't showed on the final day for at least the final 2 qualifiers. The current admin can NOT be trusted, so even if he shows, the designated tl.net admin should still take precedence. If there is ever a problem in this scenario, making a support ticket to wcg or talking to wcg admins should be the LAST RESORT.

Basically, if a trusted member of the community has free time on Sundays and possibly Mondays (possible postponement of a day), and is interested in USA tourneys finally be ran the way the community would like to see, then perhaps the people who volunteer can be added to a poll of sorts (whatever method of choosing).

Having people concerned more about keeping their jobs than actually doing their jobs can no longer be acceptable. The community needs to force its way into overseeing our important tourneys; If WCG pays admins and there is still backlash, I'm sure they would love for the community to be able to police itself.

I'm just trying to get the ball moving so to speak. The community should be aiding instead of going against each other.

My 2 cents.

you realize there is no problem here right?
day had to reschedule, took initiative, and it happened. you caused problems through your idiocy, but officially there were no problems.

timestop set stuff up with chosen but didnt make a support ticket and didnt talk to you and nyoken, and you did nothing except post here. hence the reschedule falling through. it is the responsibility of the person who has a problem to get it fixed. having a stand in admin isnt gonna change anything except add another layer between wcg and the players.

Idra, stop lying to yourself. Going by your reasoning, Chosen caused problems in this qualifier through his idiocy. I handled the situation as well as I could have. I took precautions, I added safeguards for the players, what I'm suggesting would prevent this from happening again.

The one valid point you have is that it would add another layer, but another layer is needed for now. When your admin(s) don't show up for the final day of a qualifier or make brackets for it, the story is closed -- something is wrong. Though this may add another layer now, if we prove to official this better than they have (can't be hard), eventually it could get to a point where WCG is the layer that is removed, or at least a reduced role.

Players should focus on playing. Period. The designated admin could tell us everything we need to know in this very thread. There should be no misunderstandings, and if someone claims there was, it should be easy to verify that he is trying to abuse.

chosen didnt cause problems, there were no problems. you and timestop fucked up. timestop didnt get everyone to agree to reschedule, which is obviously necessary when everyone plays at once, and you didnt do anything at all.

Idra, after the last qualifier, you think I'm showing up to a non official time to play some games when I have no opponent and I can bet money on there not being an admin there? It's this simple, we didn't have an opponent, and if the admin planned on being there, he would have took the time to make the brackets. It's simple to add up.

You should try to not be so oppositional, it hurts progress; there is a problem, and it's not me, though I know it makes you feel good to think that.

I'm done even discussing the results of this tourney, so if you are friends with nyoken or just want to give me a hard time, you can drop it. What's done is done in my eyes. But, at the same token, I know damn well that this shouldn't have happened, hence there needs to be changes for the next qualifiers.

If you weren't in Korea, I'd go hug you or something. I can log on so you can thrash me if you like.

Addition to proposition: drug testing will be mandatory. Sorry, timestop... I can't believe I got slighted by him. Alright... Anyways, WCG did not develop a bad reputation over night -- it has been well-earned and has accrued over time -- so rekindling past mishaps is not even worth it when there is no solution set in place to stop future mishaps, which is far more important (what is done is done). The problem though, if only the people who have qualified in previous years, or stand a chance to qualify this year, are the only ones with any sort on inclination to care, nothing seems likely to happen unless Day gets involved.

p.s. my arguments were right; the admin didn't do his job, thus by not having this tourney play out yesterday when there was no all-inclusive agreement on a reschedule (used loosely: time but no games), it would be an admission to him failing to do his job.

Unless there is some arcane rule in some rule book that covers this very specific situation, then I think that is an accurate assessment of the situation -- without any new information being included to what is known now (to me at least).

Clarification: this situation could have been avoided by simply not playing the games till we had all reached an agreement (the admin would have assumed a reschedule had occurred), but once players decide to show up at the default time and "play out the tourney," you can't *technically* fault those who played it. But, at the same time, you can't have an official tourney where you have not been assigned an opponent -- and there lies the dilemma. The admin tried to cover this fatal flaw through a lie, but even if it were true -- it would have no barring on what transpired in this tourney.

Players want to play games, not be faced with the burden of being a player/admin. It's the biggest tourney of the year for USA players, anyone could see that is simply asking for trouble.

Crazy idea: Let's be proactive and not blame the admins in retrospect.

Machinehead is permed + IP banned. I'm sure he will get another IP and be back since he can't let this go.

Nobody screwed him over. Maybe if he conducted himself more professionally and didnt act like a whining 12 year old people would have taken his complaint more seriously.
