while the guy might be a douche
saying shit like
"Why are you bitching you wouldnt have won anyway" is fucking lame as hell. Its a tournament. You play the games for a reason. If certain people are going to be awarded more wins just because they are bigger names why even play the games?
As ive said since 2003.....wcg usa has got to be the worst run tournament ive ever come across. If this were a more prestigious and well known tournament....people would be fired. I find it hard to believe all of the other games are as poorly run as bw.

I'll take your word on that, it's just too bad your opponent wasn't Idra. Everyone needs a buddy to bm with...
Chosen, I still think you are retarded and that you tried to jew me out of what I would have won (the finals).
I'm joking... But, honestly, if Xeris was there, I know he has been following this, so I don't see why he would try to urge you to play. That's selfish if true. But, until all sides of the story come out, it's hard to pinpoint the blame.
|
Xeris was just an observer in me vs. Nyoken. I would have attempted to postpone for Timestop if there was an admin ANYWHERE in sight. Me and nyoken both think its really stupid that theres NO admin for the final 4. We were just following the rules and as nyoken posted they said to play without the admins. You were just to self involved to post here, or ask anyone what time the finals was. Why didn't u post a question to WCG? Why didn't u post on TL.net? Why didn't u ask around? I did, I asked here, and I got an answer on b.net. WCG had the time on the site, so in your case your to blame. Me and Timestop both knew that the admins might not grant a PP. I just said I'd ask them for him. If Xeris was an admin I could have asked him. In the end we just played and let the admins decide what they would. Admins decided to accept me and Nyoken's games. If you want to blame anyone, blame yourself. P.S. (Sorry TimeStop I do feel like a jerk for not trying harder to PP our games)

Anyways, my novel idea would be to have an admin working the final day of the qualifier (hopefully a different admin).
If admins were not needed, wcg would not hire any... the most important day of a qualifier should be treated like that... Tournaments on east can not have more supervision than the finals of our WCG qualifiers...
Let players play, and let admins do what they are supposed to do. Gamers shouldn't have to study the WCG rule book and follow the history of the previous qualifiers to be able to play out the final 4.
I realize I'm a d-bag, an idiot and I'm a jew (maybe someone called me a jew), but hopefully we can at least agree on that the admins being present on the final day is essential to the integrity of this tournament, and not being a PR nightmare for them.
Hopefully someone who WCG will listen to can make these sort of notions to them.

Chosen, I saw you talking about us getting together to decide on a time. But since the brackets had not been made, it was premature. You did the same thing I did versus Idra; there was NO WAY in hell I was going to show up at any official time when there was talk of us making our own time. I went to bed, then I woke up and saw you had already played this out. I wasn't awake or on tl.net to see you talking about times on Sunday to respond in time.
If you think this situation is dumb and that no one should blame you, take a look at the last qualifier for a good laugh. I want to hate you man, but hypocrisy would probably be branded on my forehead... I'm joking about the first part.
People crucified me for doing what you did, but when 99% didn't even know you could postpone something without the admins approval. It's anything but fair.

This is what I told Timestop : Timestop msg here please . . . . . .
Ah.. I think its the WCG picked time. I just know I was told it by Bryce + Nyoken. If I'm wrong on this account then I'd be glad to PP it forya. I know how lame it would be to make it to the finals and then miss the finals.. Anyway I'm going to show up at 12 and I'll try and fight your case. Hopefully admins can reschedule or something.
We all have things to do on the weekend. He just didn't want to give up soccer. Nyoken gave up Poker. I gave up hanging with friends. There were no admins on for me to do anything. I'm done posting here. Believe what you will.

ppl still crying about this? nyoken and chosen gave up what they (wanted to do) to show up on time to play final 4 at the defalt time... the other ppl didnt show up due to plans or being retarded.. get over it.

O___O ! wow I come back from school and this thread went 4 pages with the same thing. crazy!

Machinehead, if this meant so much to you, why didn't you just show up on time? Also, the brackets were made, I addressed that. I was flamed by you and -Bluewolf- and I turned out to be right according to Laurent. Thanks, please stop posting.

Selbon, I don't want to get banned so I won't say what any sensible person would want to. The guy admitted that it was a mistake (could be lying...) AFTER THE TOURNEY. If you can even understand that... jesus... that means that had absolutely no barring on today's event.
I was going off that "mistake" as reason to believe I didn't have an opponent. Seriously, how hard is it to make a bracket correctly? If they don't notify you that it was a mistake, then there is no reason to believe that isn't how it should be.
selbon, you have to be the worst poster on any forum on the internet. I went off history, you went off assumptions. Enjoy being lucky, it is the only time you will be right about something...

I'm pretty sure this guy said he was an ex counter strike player/admin, and if so he is about to be proved a liar.

In my defense, I can find over 20 cases in which Laurent is wrong, not one. Check out the Virtua Fighter 5 schedule from the same week's bracket: http://qualify.us.wcg.com/?page=stem&view=event&eventid=1284 (click the schedule links for the Single Elim and Double Elim). I just no longer feel like arguing it if the admin will claim there is only one instance that the brackets have changed from Single Elim to Double Elim despite verifiable proof otherwise.
I do, however, apologize for my tone before since it appears the official stance is what you said. Truly, my apologizes, as I really should have waited for WCG to clarify things. Sorry.

Didn't you take a win from IdrA in one of the qualifiers when he didn't show?
|
I went off experience in Athletic events. Based off your attitude it isn't surprising to me that you don't participate in many organized tournaments/extracurricular activities.
|
selbon, you just made a statement that I don't play those kind of tournaments. Are you trying to make yourself look like a jack ass? I doubt there is anyone in this qualifier who has played sports as long as I have or as many different sports than I have (organized). I think swimming is the only thing left to do... So please, be quiet.
I am aware of how sports tourneys work, but you can't make assumptions about every tourney you see -- not when history dictates otherwise.
I just checked the 2 games in wcg that I was most confident about that he might have been the admin for (assuming he makes brackets, doesn't really matter if he does though). In counter strike source 1 out of the 4 final tourneys did not turn out the conventional way. In Warcraft 3, 2 out of the 3 final fours went against the conventional method.
Things to take from this: There is no rule stating tourneys will/should end up as Laurent said. Laurent, or whoever, is not competent enough to make brackets, or someone is lying.....
Even if Laurent did make a mistake, it would be impossible for a gamer to know this based on this information, thus if the admin doesn't show up to assign an opponent to the players, you don't have a match to play.
I really don't care if the results stand, I just want a new admin, and gamers who wish to play in future events should feel the same way.

exclamation point !!!!!!!!111one
but really, time to maybe start another discussion:
Players List Who Haven't Qualified (big name people that most would consider favorites): Chosen, Machine, G5, Yosh, Day[9], Artosis (am I missing anybody?)
There are just 4 qualifiers left, with 6 players that I listed who *probably* barring some kind of upset will be winning the remaining qualifiers.
This means two people will get left out, assuming no upsets.
Who will get left out?! Discuss
(I heard G5 might not be participating this year?...)
