Wow, I don't see how you can put it this simply. Yea, according to the official rules nyoken has done nothing wrong, but this whole thing seems pretty messed up.

If I'm wrong on this account then I'd be glad to PP it forya. I know how lame it would be to make it to the finals and then miss the finals.. Anyway I'm going to show up at 12 and I'll try and fight your case. Hopefully admins can reschedule or something..
They both knew that he wouldn't be able to make it to the designated time and it seems that they could have easily postponed the match(correct me if this is wrong, a ref made them play/told them they couldn't postpone etc.). So yea they didn't break the rules but this just seems bm considering timestop was nice enough to postpone a match for another player. Couldn't they extend him the same courtesy?

Apparently they couldnt guys ^^ So i'll just have to try and get to final 4 again. And if i meet chosen, there will be an ass wooping for the sins he has commited!!! :D Cya then

....Well I'm glad Jess finally got banned, she was getting old. But this Nyoken/Chosen thing is kind of messed up... I mean even if Chosen won there was a good chance he wouldn't show up to the finals. Well nice win Nyoken, shady deal though. Feel sorry for Machinehead and Timestop, they worked hard to get where they are and took all the proper precautions to reschedule and still got screwed.

Guys, you are missing the point. This never was scheduled... If you are not given an opponent or an official time, what do you have? A plan to abuse? You can't make something out of nothing.

You can't make something out of nothing. Well the guide says it was scheduled. As far as it goes for you, you didn't read/didn't know of the guide therefore didn't know what to do. I was basing my comments from Timestop's prospective. Correct me if I was wrong there..

Please read everything on this matter; I have covered what the competition guide is. But, I'm dumb so let's assume that is the official time. So you have an official time and no opponent, how do you finish the tourney? Going to have 1 of the players flip a coin to see who plays each other? I'm sure that's what happened, these guys really were on the ball.
|
How did you not know who your opponent was? There was a full bracket at some point, I mean there had to be in order for you to know who you played initially.. (Not to make light of the situation or anything, I'm just trying to understand)
|
I'm trying to tell myself you are serious, but I'm having a hard time doing that, because if you are -- then you will obviously refuse to read what I type in this message, as this was explained just a few messages ago.
There are 4 brackets: it shows the winners of each of the brackets. For the final 4, they randomly (or w/e method) decide the order of the final bracket (there is nothing to infer from what is shown right now, besides who the final 4 are).
Summary: the admins have not made the final bracket or given a time for it yet.
|
You can decide what time you want to play, but can you also decide what player you are going to play? Since there was no official time, deciding on a time to play without having the confirmation of every player should never be allowed.
|
To be honest I don't know why there is such a fuss. The two that showed up showed up on time. I don't know why people are signing up for these things if they cant make it to the matches. If you cant make it well then too bad, thats your problem not WCGs.
|
I wasn't aware there was 4 different brackets, my bad. But, the demeaning tone that you're posting with isn't going to make you any allies. It sure isn't going to make anyone feel bad for your situation. Regardless, I hope WCG solves this because the way it was solved is ludicrous.

Cava, congrats on being the dumbest person to grace the earth. Would love to hear your thoughts about abortion, for sure.

All of the events have a "Championship" or "Double Elimination Bracket" except for Starcraft: Broodwars (to see other game's brackets, always click "Schedule", the "Standings" link never works). The bracket was never made for Starcraft: Broodwars (publicly, at least).
As an aside, for what it is worth, I don't think Nyoken / Chosen did the right thing in this case, and I do find it ironic that there was outrage over the Day[9] situation and the exact opposite public reaction in this case.

That's because it's never about the infractions that are made, simply who is on what side of it. The names of the players is the only thing that really matters. Obviously that is dumb, but that appears to be the reality of it.

Those aren't 4 differen't brackets. That is one large bracket, notice the seeding? So it was suppose to be Machinehead vs Nyoken and Timestop vs Chosen. Thanks for being a complete ass while trying to explain your situation to me, incorrectly.
|
WCG USA East Bracket there it he bracket link for anyone who wishes to see it. But, it's clearly one bracket.
|
I'm done with this, why do people even chime in to shit that doesn't concern them when they have nothing to offer. Let someone else hold your hand. Yeah, notice how the seed disappears after we win our bracket. The only thing our seed has decided in the tourney is who gets to pick the map for the first game.

I don't want to get involved in a morality discussion with the SC:BW scene, but I will do one more post to help clarify the situation for MachineHead / Timestop:
http://qualify.us.wcg.com/?page=stem&view=schedule&stageid=2621 - indicates:
Lok-Yin Kwong (KawaiiRice) Vs Nick De Cesare (lastshadow1) Geoff Robinson (iNcontroL) Vs Geunhwa Ralph (lastgosu)
http://qualify.us.wcg.com/?page=stem&view=schedule&stageid=2642 - the double elimination bracket for this tournament instead had: Geunhwa Ralph (lastgosu) Vs Lok-Yin Kwong (KawaiiRice) Nick De Cesare (lastshadow1) Vs Geoff Robinson (iNcontroL)
Notice that the Single Elimination bracket does not directly lead into the double elimination in WCG USA. You can verify this one example at: http://qualify.us.wcg.com/?page=stem&view=event&eventid=1280 (and go through others at http://qualify.us.wcg.com to see this is the case that the double elim pairings are RANDOM).
In short, you sir, are wrong in your bracket assumption.
|
I didn't look at how those played out. But that bracket you linked me, that I looked at, the seeded ones. They were seeded that way for a reason. I don't know if you participate in sports, but I have for a long period of time. I know how brackets work, I don't know what happened where in what you listed. I do know Kawaii mentioned something about Incontrol playing in the USA open, I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
Edit: Didn't read previously that this lead to a double elimination stage in the final four.

Would have been nice if they still did the regional qualifier to keep from dealing with this.
