If my memory doesn't fail me, we had a sort of "highlight show" last time, with some hours delay on the GOM Player, where they only showed the best moments / games of the groups.
so looks to be the same as last time. If they go simply from 1 to 25, the first batch will feature Stork, Iris, Much, GGplay, Darkelf and Pusan, that should be sweet to watch.
Do you mean the games listed in 2004? Was the qualification-mode back then the same as it is today or could she have been invited through a wildcard or something?
Yeah the prelims were the same back then, but she might have been invited. I really doubt that though, seems strange to get an invite to a Survivor tournament.
Group 1: Stork should have little problem with his group. I'd be honestly surprised with any other result.
Group 2: GGPlay hasn't been looking good since his OSL win, unless he revounds back to old form I don't see him escaping his group. Sea.really is my pick to advance from the group. Aside from GGPlay, who hasn't been playing well anyway, this is a group a basically nobody's. Sea.really should have the best chance of advancing from this fairly easy group.
Group 3: Iris will be looking to get back into the league after falling short of both this season. The Zergs shouldn't have too much trouble their first game, and I'd give iris the advantage over any of the zergs as well as Eavan.
Group 4: It's hard to pick against one of the current top players. Much is on fire and he should burn through his group unless something goes terribly wrong. The obvious favorite from Group Four.
Group 5: A player I have been watching a lot to break out is DarkElf. I was always perplexed by the hate generated toward him on TeamLiquid. He has really stepped his game up over the last season and I expect him to start making it a little further into the leagues. violet is also looking to break out and do something, But I stand by darkelf as advancing from this group.
Group 6: Skyhigh was a fluke, Calm is on the decline. That being said, most of the players in this group have a decent chance of advancing. I believe that WeMade is a rising power, with a lot of younger players that look promising. Pure is my pick to advance here. Mind's MSL victory can only help team morale and will help its other player strive to follow their teammate's lead.
Group 7: FireFist is my pick here, going along with my belief that WeMade is on the up. Firefist is a solid new Zerg player and looks good to advance. Justin hasn't done anything solo in forever, and I don't expect him to now.
Group 8: Aqua and Freedom will be duking it out in the finals here, That's right, I predict Pusan will be upset. Pusan has other things to worry about and Aqua is by no means bad. I think aQua can take it over Freedom, though I have a soft spot for the former WarCraft3 player.

Thats true.. perhaps he's just an offliner?
considering he just got raped 0-2... I'd say he's probably going to retire soon too. Either that or join the army.

Didn't GGoma just get a 2-0 win because he wasn't there or something? It says "GGoma BYE Aqua"
LoL I know what I did. I was reading about sKyHigh's 16-0 win streak in offline prelims, with his latest victim being a guy names 강민구 (by.mingu), who has the same first-name as 김민구 (MinGu). In fact, they both use their names for their ID's.

I usually like to point out, though, that before Savior's slump recently, he had only ever lost to three protoss players in televised games. Three..... ever.

25 minutes late, because, according to the coach, "Recently Yellow has been practicing somewhere else so he didn't come with the team. I called him at 12:10 pm and he said he was on his way. Afterwards, I couldn't reach him because his phone was off."

My guess would be iloveoov, due to him becoming a coach.
so its official gg oov =[
Don't say it's official just because I said it, but it certainly looks that way from the news that was posted here on it. I don't know who else of the 24 would have any reason not to participate.

Preliminaries don't add into the TLPD statistics, that is for televised matches only. Sheis has lost to Zerg players before, just not in official televised matches.
There seems to be a few names i dont see on the list.. just to name a few, savior, bisu and fbh. Can anyone tell me the reason for this? did they already qualify through a different method? Or do they just dont want to join the msl this time.

i have watched the games on Jon747 account and is one thing i can say the build muta --> Ultra (skip the lurker ) is definitly more popular this days !!! and terran struggle against it !!
Wow so many no names getting in over favourites. Well, as long as the quality of games is good is gues I'm fine with that... Seriously though, this prelim is fucking bullshit.

That build is like reav->carrier PvT. Extremely effective if you do enough damage with muta/reaver. If you have good timing and your opponent isnt scouting good enough even that isnt necessary. But yeah I think it's no coincidence we see Rock getting away with his trademark carriers and several zergs skipping lurkers against Terran on these maps. Especially on Katrina.
Personally I enjoy zeal/goon/temp vs mech battles than carrier/goon/temp vs mech battles. I also prefer watching ling/lurker/filer vs ball/skterran rather than ultra/ling vs ball/skterran. Probably because once the ultra/carrier reach a critical amount it's almost impossible for the terran to stop, and the mobility/strength can and will be abused against terrans immobility.
Of course it's great that those units are there, because it forces the terran to be active, but the battles arent that entertaining imo. Especially ultra/ling vs terran.
Wow, would love some replays from this. Of course, it's not going to happen though.
But really, pretty much all the favourites beaten. That's great! I should tell us the programing in Starcraft really has a lot of high-level material. Of course, it could also be telling us that progaming in Starcraft is diminishing and none of the good players devote themselves enough to stay on top of their game. A lot of legends have fallen as of late, and with what I've been hearing about the low quality of play in Korean leagues lately, I'm relieved that the favourites lost, since the Koreans really should be playing a lot better.
Sad to hear that the more "lazy" and easily effective strategies are being popularized. Soon, maybe Starcraft will reach the same conditions as Warcraft 3, and then we'll all be happy to see Starcraft 2 come out. It's very boring to watch utralisks and carrier being spammed. Even reavers can make for dull battles if they are in excess. The worst thing is that is works
Stacraft has always been known for the fact that if you tried anything silly, enough skill could easily bring you down. In some situations, though, I just have a hard time seeing how they could play out differently, given the level of skill and the gameplay.

Nah i think the proleagues give us more and more enjoyable games, i see an evolution with the proleagues R1, there was not a lot of good games and now in the proleague R2 there is a lot !!!
But yeah this bginning of the year is not very good for individual league
i must agree that carriers build is getting fame but i dont think its autowin, cause the maps are playing an important role and still you can see that even the most solid and save builds like the bisubuild have their weaknesses - going to carrier tech is quite an investment in the midgame and the key for the terran is to be aggressive - for example the bisu xellos match on katrina , where carrier tech owned the poor terran... xellos tried to "harass" with a dropship full of vultures but it was not enough... all the FE builds can be outplayed by an aggressive midgame and when its come to bisubuild i think the first time when we saw its not autowin it was agains oversky, when bisu was owned by the 3 hatch links of oversky... and my favorite games is PvZ when the toss uses dark archons and maelstrom, but its quite rare to see

SayGG, normally I just do a series of find and replace on the korean after I tlpdise it. Being able to use regular expressions is an added bonus for formatting it.
edit: Wow at those dates. This could be the busiest month ever even without proleague on every day.
The ORs are Much, Lucifer, Darkelf, July, and I think Calm. Looks like a pretty good draw overall. Sea and Much should slaughter their group, hopefully Hwasin and Xellos too. Bisu and Savior have very easy looking groups, either should be able to stomp them even in their current slumps. Don't see any stacked groups with 3 players I really want to see qualify, which is nice.
