WE'RE BACK BABY. The Rookie StarLeague is coming in hot for a 5th season before CPL starts! It is a multi week tournament that will have games casted on twitch. (no, i mean it this time) We're back with a quick turnaround for a 5th season that we hope will be as big as ever!
Who?
Any player under 1350 mmr (at time the tournament starts) that has not placed 1st-4th in any previous RSL. No offraces or smurfs, we will check ladder accounts. When?
This event will begin Sunday, November 8 at 0:00 GMT, as signups close. ALL PLAYERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO CHECK IN WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE TOURNAMENT STARTING. Signups are available now on challonge, at https://challonge.com/RSL5_BW . Please create your challonge account using the same name as your ladder account! The event will go over the time span of 1 and a half months, with 2 weeks for the group stage and 1 week for every following stage.
How?
The tournament will have a round robin group stage for the first round, in which each participant plays one game against each other player in the group. Each player agrees on a map from the map pool. The top two players from each group will advance. After the first round, there will be a single elimination tournament with each round consisting of a BO5. Each player will ban 2 maps to find the first map, and loser will pick the next map until the series is decided.
Due to the round robin format, there will not be deadlines for each individual game in the group stage; there is only the requirement that you have all your games in by Saturday November 21 11:59 PM GMT/6:59 EDT. Players will be REQUIRED to post replays in order to claim a win.
Map Pool:
Eclipse, Benzene, Neo Sylphid, Polypoid, Shakuras Temple. If you need any of these maps, they will be posted in the discord under #map-pool.

I hope there will be an RSL6 after the Black Friday or Winter sale season when there might be another boost of new players.

I applied but my mmr is over. Sucks because I'm well versed in the game but my hands move like shit and beyond 10 minutes I treat the game like single player.. but I have a ton of old experience looking for and stopping cheese so I end up winning a lot of 7m games and losing the rest. I've played a few people in the cpl and I won maybe 2/10.
I'd love to try and be involved in another way if I can't play though. Miss talking about mfing starcraft with people lol.

Make sure you get on the discord! There's plenty of practice partners and advice available. Also, it's a soft cap so if you drop below 1350 but dont sit above 1400 you might still qualify. I would make sure you've played about 15-20 games on ladder before you give in because you can easily inflate your mmr with people leaving games  and invite your friends!

RSL is the future, perfect tourney for beginners / low level players. CPL is never very active for the tier 3 skillset honestly.
