The official stream is usually on afreecatv.com/afstar1/, but it usually doesn't start broadcasting till like 1hr+ after the games start. That other stream might be a replay of yesterdays games?

For those who didn't watch the first two, I think the official afstar1 channel started broadcasting at 0400 UTC.

If snow had lost Protoss would been in serious trouble this season.

It's kinda amusing that there's nearly as many protoss in the ro4 of KSL3 as in the whole ro24 of ASL8

maybe because its a korean tournament with korean sponsors, korean commentaries and mostly korean players etc.??

meanwhile jaehoon won against forgg to make it to the finals of group 6 (vs. modesty or huro) - hopefully jaehoon manages to qualify, i would love to see his famous arbiter micro in a big tournament once again

Ok I am pretty sure it will cost them nothing if they use names like "Snow" instead of "장윤철" . If this is supposed to be Korean closed tournament whey they stream it out side of Korea and why they do English streams for the finals.

Because in Korea, players are known by their name, not their nicknames as we do know them.
Imagine a US tournament using real player's names

So why not just list their real names in english, it would be much better for all english viewers as we could just search the name. And it would be better for the ESPORT as well as it would improve the popularity everywhere

Cadenzie should ask them for us, kindly as she is there :p

I am going to assume that you are not familiar with Korean writing. It is MESSY to romanize. I've spend couple years in Korea during the past 10 years, even studying at the university's language school for some time. And I cant read romanized Korean, because it is plain weird :D
Trust me, if they did that, no one would be happy (and you sure as hell wouldnt be able to search for that).

Qualifiers are not done with english language and commentators. Maybe lack of interest, maybe something else, but it is what it is.
You do have people in this forum who do translate and explain, so if you were interested in who is playing, you can get an answer rather quickly, even though its not the same as you being able to read it yourself.

Also to the guy complaining about korean. Hey Pal - go learn korean and provide translations for free. It is just time and money.

After all these years, I assumed the "omfg it isn't english" shit would die.... guess not.

Btw, if you don't know your favorite players korean names, in korean, you aint no fan.

I can spot Hong Jin Ho or Lim anywhere, anytime and I know zero korean.

Congrats to all of those brave enough to play. The qualifiers have terrible conditions and are often much harder then the rest of the tournament. All you non-koreans who played - you have my respect. Facing these guys offline would be terrifying.

Sounds like excuse for the bad coverage of the qualifications.

Over 95% of the player base is in Korea - why would they change their names to a different language? You can’t romanize Korean to English in a way that preserves the proper spelling. You can write Jaeyun probably 4 different ways in Korean. Sure, if they invested more in the production quality, maybe they can create two bracket pages and upload results twice every time if they found a volunteer.

It’s most likely that they’re not sure how interested foreigners are in these qualifier rounds. Otherwise, they’d host an english cast with it but I wouldn’t really expect too much. I’m an avid fan myself and I hardly watch the qualifiers less a couple games here and there.

Sounds more like you're upset about not being spoonfed. You've got access to the brackets and the TLPD, and I/others have posted instructions in these threads multiple times with links on how to figure out who's who, It takes about two seconds total to copy paste the name and find out who a player is. If you don't want to bother, that's fine. but don't just sit and complain

You didn't pay for anything, you should be thankful to even get an english cast for the main tournament. I can unfortunately remember the days when there was no english cast and had to pay gomtv if you wanted to watch in above 240p

Damn really sucks that Zero didn't qualify . He seemed like the only other zerg besides Soulkey that could possibly take on flash on a Bo5 right now.

Nice try Cadenzie and Eonzerg, proud of both of you guys for getting as far as you did

Sounds like the qualifiers around hundreds of hours of time and work crammed into a tiny amount of time with limited resources and having to insure fair play and do logistics amongst dozens of people with the intent to create content from the results.

It's almost as if the qualifiers are not the main product being delivered. It's almost as if koreans make up the majority of the viewerbase and players.

When an English dominate country becomes the mecca of Starcraft.. I will expect to be catered to.. until then it sounds like you guys need some try hard in your life.

Every single qualifier has been spoonfed in english since forever. (Thx bilingual members!!)

Copy paste solves this in minutes. It's 2019. Complaining about it is weak.

Also, maybe the brackets are to be of use for the koreans playing in the tournament.

Hell even top names rarely have more then partial matches shown.

(Edit - in the time my phone charged others made the same points I did)

It isn't like they can't check the views for KSL qualis in Twitch, it just seems like they got no interest in doing english coverage that's all.

I find the qualifiers interesting and look forward to them. It's a totally different atmosphere from the rest of the event. The last couple years it's been better with several streamers wandering around. They stop to chat with most everyone and sometimes stop to focus on some key games. Everywhere you look, there's someone you recognize.

I don't think they've been doing paid coverage of the quals for even a year yet. I'd say they're doing fine, looks professional enough to me, but I admit to bouncing a lot. I often have 3 streams open at once.

Is anybody putting together a list of notable games or anything suchlike? For someone like me who is bad at finding games, it would be much appreciated.

Did I miss what happened to Mind? Why did he forfeit the wildcard and not qualify?
