i disagree. most of the korean population knows what brood war is, while games like lol/ow/pubg are foreign to them.
every night of the ASL i see the studio is packed or near full capacity. the others game do get their empty nights.

I see a lot of delusional people in this thread. I agree Nada had a decent chance against Larva with that unscouted nuke rush and I also agree he played a great 2 port against rush. But he really showed poor mechanics (many idle workers and army movement overall) and a lot of poor decision making.

You are right, but i thought it would be worse tbh.
I dont think nobody was disapointed by the game he brought yesterday. I dont know about his motivation, and he is 34, but clearly hes not far behind.

BW is still the most iconic esport

in terms of market value I don't know if it's the 'biggest' esport but if you ask people here about esports you will hear brood war

If it was the biggest esport in terms of market value there would be sponsors and OGN would hold tournaments. Let's not be irrational here, knowing about something is one thing, but what about people actually investing their own free time to follow/play the game, that is what's relevant here.

NaDa showing he isn't called Genius Terran for nothing. If only that 1st nuke landed, we could see him sweeping his group... Nevertheless great games by him! I believe in NaDa and hope he comes back stronger!

Even without the nuke landing, I thought he had some good chances. If he had medic walled the ramp for example, he may have been able to divide and conquer the ultralisks and have more time for his reinforcements to arrive. Even if he couldn't take advantage of that opportunity (or protect his ghost just a little better as people said), the fact that moment and opportunity exist at all is a part of his immense skill.

Really, I thought we were going to be sad that he'd just die to a 9 pool when I saw those lings get into his base and he had only 2 or 3 marines. I do think he could have targeted down ultras a little better later in the game, but sometimes the choice you're making is to target down ultralisks or to make sure your next 12 marines are made on time. I thought NaDa showed a very nice approach and philosophy to the game we haven't seen in awhile, in terms of where he chose to put his focus.

In group B why do people think Piano will advance over Action? I don’t know anything about Piano but Action is consistently good.

Because of the way the group is shaped. Action has a good chance against Snow and Twinkle imho but the way I look at it the most likely scenario is that Snow will beat Twinkle and Piano will beat Action. Snow will beat, Piano and Action will beat Twinkle. G5 will be a repeat of G2. The reason here is that Snow is an absolute beast in PvT, Twinkle is a noname and Piano is not good at TvP so I doubt they will beat him. Piano has a pretty insane TvZ though. He can take wins against every zerg for sure. That said, his playstyle is pretty volatile because he likes to go kamikaze so there is definitely a chance that Action takes a game off of him and advances.

This was a cool group, but I'm sad that Nada is out. So much hype gone

I actually think one of his mistakes in the first game was losing that dropship for starters then not killing the exp too. The hp was 100! Likewise, with the dropship, several marines could've shut down the base at 6 while he engaged at the expansion and seeing as Larva threw everything at the ghost, he wouldn't have been able to defend 6 as well. Between losing so much at his exp and losing drones/potential hatch at 6, this game would've been Nada almost 100%. Nada also never tried to take the bases behind the eggs. This was odd to me but maybe he wanted to secure 2 bases at once, but in a way, that revealed his base at 11 lol since OL saw base at ~10.

The rest of the games were ok. It was nice to see Nada alter his gameplan after he lost those early vultures, still got it but his TvP needs work. Still gotta give credit to Horang2 for trying a nexus first, and for pulling off some good recalls, even if I hate the arbiter with a passion after that haha.

Oh man Nada really brought the hype with that strategy. If only he had gotten the hatchery. Looked like he should have been in a more promising position after murdering the mutas. Hopefully we see someone else pick that pocket strat out.

Happy Larva got through.

Really fun watching the NaDa games, too bad his control over those arbiters was lacking in the final game. I mean he got recalled in the same spot.

I still wonder why nada wasted first game so badly (( He could kill base 3 but wanted to show off with nukes...and you just dont play around with Larva.

I don't think it was a waste, I don't think he was nuking just as a gimmick, it seems like a legit strat on that map. Larva had 4 bases hidden behind one focal point of defence and was relying on that to hold Nada off until he got his mass ultras out, if he had just got that first nuke to land I think he would have won the game.

Tbh I was expecting him to use the dropship so he could keep the ghost hidden until it arrived.

This was a good group, I just wish Nada had moved on!

Man I want Larva to go far too but after that immaculate early ling defense by Nada, I wish Nada had made a proper wall to protect his ghost from the zerglings during the first nuke attempt, like he had done during his second attempt. Oh well
