I wasn't referring to your post in particular above anyone else who said the same thing in a different way, which multiple people did. The hard truth imo is that they don't have to abide by what some people personally consider to be "supporting the foreign scene." "Supporting the foreign scene" in the organizers' mind (I don't mean to put words in people's mouths but I don't find my interpretation to be unreasonable) is putting up money and hosting a well-run English-cast tournament that is open to all who have access to it, namely people who frequent this site, the hub of foreign StarCraft. I, for one, agree with them. Is it supporting it less than sponsoring all the players who have no Korean heritage, background, etc. with monthly salaries, benefits, and incentives ? Of course. Is it supporting it more than not doing anything? Absolutely. These tournaments fall somewhere in between, and thus cannot be argued to not be supporting foreign interest and participation in BW, simple as that. Just because they don't do it in a way that some people find optimal is not a reason to boycott the tournaments and people who are without a doubt beneficial to the scene as contributors.

First, I hope you won't stop those tournaments, because they are awesome and i am really thankfull for what you did. But to me it seems that you received a lot of advices but you don't want to listen to them. I don't know what was your goal, promote foreign scene ? having the best games of bw to show ? If your goal is to promote foreign scene, you need to understand that from the beginning koreans and foreigners have not the same chance of success in bw. Once you are part of the top foreigners, it's really hard to improve because you can't ask for advices, you can't play lot of games with practice partners (or always same people). There are no "pros" just some foreigners that are better than others, we don't make money by playing this game, but we invest A LOT OF TIME (because we love this game). Playing in a tournaments means playing all your saturday night while you could be with your friends or having some good time with your family. So playing a tournaments where you already know who's gonna win and we didn't had the same chance because he is korean and me a foreigner, is not that fun. I had rather go out with friends or play fish no ? To be part of the top foreigners already means we skipped a lot of time with friends and family but remember we didn't earn anything from that except fun and more love for the game ![]() If your goal is to show the best games of bw, then you should ask scan to help you promote this tournaments to korean community. And i am sure you will have ton of koreans playing in it and it's gonna be awesome for us to watch some high skilled koreans who can't play in ASL but for once have the chance to make money and show their skills. I think the "problem" came from your lack of communication. We don't know what you want to do with those tournaments. But we (top foreigners) assumed, that it was to promote foreign community (because it's late for koreans to play in it) so if it's the case i think koreans should not be allowed. To me it's like in boxe, there are some weight class and they can't compete each other, it's the same in BW. When top foreigners wants to improve they go fish but when we play in a tournament to promote foreign community we want to know at the end of the tournaments who is the best foreigner for this week not who played scan or sonstar in last. And there would be an emulation to be the best foreigner for the week, but at the moment it's not the case. I hope my "broken english" was not to bad for you to understand my point of view. As i said i'm really thankfull for what you did and what you are doing for our great community, i hope you won't stop, even if it's not to promote foreign scene, and i would be glad to watch some high korean level. Just inform us better what's your goal with those tournaments.

You guys all assumed way too much about my motives here. I'm just a guy who loves starcraft, and has some experience running events for SC, and thought this would be fun.

Though I'm really a nobody in the bw community, I am really happy that you guys organise these tournaments and hope you will continue to do so, because I had lots of fun watching it. You might feel that the people are ungrateful and all, probably they should've worded their concerns a little bit nicer. So what I am trying to say is that don't let these negative feelings stop you from organisin these tournaments. I have an idea that would make it more difficult to organise the tournaments but maybe the foreign scene will like it and you wouldn't have to exclude koreans. I thought that maybe it would be possible to have an event where the foreigners would duke it out amongst themselves and the best two foreigners would "advance" or would have the chance to compete in the second phase of the tournament which would include the koreans. This way there would be a foreigner only tournament which most foreigners would want, and the best foreigners could try and take down koreans as a bonus. This is just my idea and I know it would take a lot more effort to organise it this way, so it might not worth the effort, but maybe this would meet everybodys expectations and the negative feelings would go away and everybody would be happy again and have fun playing the game once again. ![]() And again don't take this as whining or demanding I don't want to sound ungrateful or anything, I really like that you are organising tournaments. Edit: yeee i should've watched the video before writing this, anyway maybe someone will make a tournament like this :D

They know they cant win so maybe making profitbale playing for 3rd-4th place would increase tour attention? something like: 1st: 50$, 2nd: 25$, 3rd: 15$, 4th:10$

@anyone upset with the top foreigners standpoint, just understand they are coming from a good and reasonable place. Just because you guys differ on who should participate does not mean you need to get harsh towards each other. I recommend everyone on either side take a second to breathe. @Sponsors, yes we (I) am grateful for this tournament, but I too make the appeal that foreign only would be a better way to connect with your international audience. But ultimately, you are the ones who are offering money and have every right to spend it how you would like.

I do not instigate anyone else doing so, but I personally am not going to tune in for the next tournaments streams after seeing that video. Nevertheless, good luck to you in next shows and have fun to everyone. Peace.
