First of all, I am thankful to you for organizing these tournaments. You bring a lot of viewers to spectate this great game, and this is the highest possible value that I can think of. Top foreigner's standpoint idea was to actually INCREASE gaming and streaming quality. It may looks like they are being selfish, and that may be partially true. Nevertheless, I thought that having a tournament with names like: Sziky, Trutacz, Dewalt, Cryoc, Eonzerg, Dandy, Ty2, Koget and many many great foreign players would be better than the one including Koreans. Why? Because it was my belief that a close game is actually better for the audience to watch than a 1-sided ownage. I thought that uncertainty of who's going to win is better than having 1 solid candidate for winning. Until this discussion lead us to these conclusions, I was certain that I was right. I never expected that there are people who actually enjoy to watch the machinery at work. It makes sense, indeed. It was my narrow-minded thinking that everyone would be excited about the same things as I would be. Now I know, there are people with taste so different than my own that I never actually considered the other possibilities. So once again, sorry, for we were only trying to make everything better, for the audience, for the streamers and for us the players (at least most of us). Please keep up the good work, that you do. Doing something for the BroodWar community is the greatest thing one can do and if Adun exists, you will be richly rewarded in the afterlife :D

It's obvious that playing against Koreans is something akin to fighting someone who has 15kgs on you and is a head taller with the reach to match -- Korean team houses, progamers, coaches and the barrier to all of that via the language means that it's virtually impossible for foreigners to catch up to them. No amount of grinding on Fish will get you there, it's like telling a fighter to prepare for a bout without a trainer and coach and then blaming them for not wanting to do it again after loosing. "Just train harder yo". Haha, yeah, right. "You sound entitled, how come you don't want to be beaten up really badly and shown how worthless the countless hours of hard work and practice you put in are time and time again"? FFS, competing is not the same as occasionally playing for fun... It's a 'tournament' not 'ladder', these are casted and not practice games. It's funny to see people like Jealous say they would love to play vs Movie. Of course you would! You are not a serious player. I would love to play vs Movie as well, I'm not a serious player either. Top foreigners are serious players, they have gotten to where they because they are serious players. And they too would love to play vs Movie too. For practice, for the honour of it, for fun games. (Check their streams...) They don't want to be beaten bloody in tournaments by random (as compared to Movie and the likes of him only, of course) Koreans, and it's ridiculous to expect that kind of mental stamina from them. As a spectator, it's exciting to see the best foreigners duking it out, and then seeing them get smashed by Koreans. I guess gladiator games were popular for a reason. It's not cool for random people to look down on them though... I guess you just don't understand the mental aspect of it, because you've never been in a position like that. Which is cool, and I'm not blaming anyone, just perhaps trying to get some people to understand that side as well. Which I think the organizers do! They are wonderful people who have given us a lot already, and I think literally everyone is very thankful for that. My heartfelt thanks goes out as well! And hopefully, we will manage to continue with these really awesome tournies. I love watching it. But I have to say I understand the players who feel like bowing out. Maybe you will too if you read this comment and keep an open mind and try to imagine yourself in their shoes. 'Foreigner only' is not an insane request in the BW scene. And perhaps coming from SC2 with actual foreign pros and the skill gap being non-existant (I know, but compared to BW) the attitude may seem... off-putting. It isn't. These guys have kids, busy lives, and no history of being a pro or having access to help like Koreans do. But as I've said, the organizers have explained their side, are awesome and cool people -- here's to hoping for more tournies. I like watching them.

If you're a foreigner and you think your participation is useless to the viewers and to me, you are sorely mistaken. I've grown to love the names of EonZerg, Trutacz, Dandy, Koget, etc while still appreciating SonStar and Scan. I don't sit here thinking these people are wasting my time or my viewers. My viewers fucking love the plays that come out of everyone in my tournaments. Just last week I took the Filthy BW finals VoD and made a clip of Dewalt- doing that SICK DT mine-drag and got it on the front page or r/starcraft. Had a lot of people talking about BW and how that works vs SC2. I'm not going to say "Train harder, noob" to people who are frustrated they're not winning. I'm not a competitive player, I was for a very short time and I know the frustration of losing to the same player a lot (Damn you, Pokebunny). I will say from a caster and a viewer that I love the games the foreigners have put on so far. So do my viewers. Hell, even Rapid who casts ASL was super impressed at the level of play you all put on. I think if you think going against players from Korea is so onesided, you don't see it like we do. <3's out to all of you. I hope you all still play, I love seeing you all play. I really do, however I can understand if you don't want to. -Scham

Hey everyone. I am sorry to report that there will not be a Filthy BW Cup today. This has nothing to do with the ongoing discussion here in the thread, but rather that my casters are unavailable for various reasons. Filthy BW Cup Weekly #3 is still going to happen, but I am not yet entirely certain when. Normally I would say it will just be next Sunday, but I am going to be out of town for a wedding. It *may* still happen then, but I am not yet certain. Please stay tuned for updates!

There's a lot of good casters in the foreign community who'd likely do it.

I think there is something to be said in the defense of 1. continuity and 2. presentation in this case, which is something that has become an intrinsic aspect of both Have At You and Filthy BW Cup in my mind. While it is unfortunate that the tournament had to be postponed on such short notice, sometimes that's just the way things are in the real world full of germs, jobs, and other nuisances that keep one from Brood War's loving embrace.
