Welcome to Another Great event, presented to you by Team Alchemists
Hi!
I am happy to present to you the Alchemy League. “What can this be?“ you say. Well let me tell you. Me and a few friends have been working on another event that we wanted to be bigger than the regular 10/20$ tournaments on defiler. so we came up with this idea. It‘s been a lot of work for people like us without that much experience in hosting such events. We also didn’t have all the contacts we needed, and those we knew, unfortunately, are not as interested in helping out as they were before. Kudos to those who actually did help us though. We're still looking for help with coverage and anyone else who might be interested in helping run the tournament. If you feel like helping let us know, there are cookies involved, you don't want to miss out on that!
So far, Madinho, Voddy, Piraya and myself have chipped in for the prizepool. Now we will open for donations. If you want to help us raise the prizepool you can donate to my paypal account: LeifJsandoy@gmail.com Remember that every donation helps, small ones and big ones. The larger the prize pool gets, the more interest and activity the event will get. Your donations will go to the prize pool and only that.
We are still looking for 1-2 newswriter to cover some of the most intresting matches in the ladder stage, aswell as someone to cover the qualifications&finals, Is it you we are looking for ? Please PM me here at TL or add me at skype : Leifsandoy
I advice you to read these rules, a lot of people diddent bother to do so, and broke several rules simply cause they diddent bother reading them.I made a few exceptions since it diddent affect the league or other players, and we all want as many players in the league as possible. But from now on i wont

I am very excited that so many good players have signed up for this event, nearly every top player in iCCup have singed up for this, and it will be even more exciting games to look forward to for the next few weeks, and then the qualifier starting right after, wich will be evenen better then the ladder stage, i hope everyone are looking forard to this just as much as i do.
Prize pool remains still remains at 200 $, and i dont think thats is a bad prize for playing a game you love.
Groupstage
Players are seeded based on rank from the ladderstage. Groups : 8x4 Liquipedia article : http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Alchemy_LeagueIn the group stage, every player plays a best of 3 vs all other members of his group. During this stage, the first map is always Mist. After that, the loser picks. Two players advance from each group based on the amounts of wins and losses, leaving 16 players. A win gives +2 points, and a loss gives -1points.If there is an even number of points between more than two players, there will be tiebreaker games, in which the players who have the same amount of points all play each other in best of one games. The same rules for scoring apply: +2 points for a win, -1 for a loss. Clarification: A win means one individual game. Not a complete best of 3 set. These players then compete in a single elimination bracket. They are placed based on how many points they got during the group stage, as shown in this example: http://binarybeast.com/xCODBO1011200Points gained from tiebreaker games do not count towards this placement. If two or more players have the same amount of points, the player with the higher ladder qualification spot gets the higher numbered spot. All rounds are best of 3 until the finals, which are best of 5The rounds have the following starting maps, after which the loser picks: Round of 16: Mist Round of 8: Overwatch Round of 4: Queen's Bridge Round of 2: Outsider

Fair play
We are adults, and let’s also act like it. Creating more work for admins will result in a waste of time for us and the event will suffer for this. That‘s in no one‘s interest. It‘s more than enough work already, and my patience with handling brats is very limited.
Leaving before the 2 minute mark due to any disadvantage will be heavily punished. Disconnecting because of a loss/disadvantage will be heavily punished. Floating buildings around the map only to waste time will be punished.
Some bad manners we can all live with, but racism and/or hardcore bm will be heavily punished and might result in a disqualification.
Bugs/Glitches
Same rules as in iCCup.
Maps, replays, spoiling
To prevent everyone from only playing Fighting Spirit, we made a rule that only allows you to play Fighting Spirit for a maximum 60% of your ladder games.
All participants are forbidden to spoil results from the groupstage or Ro16, ( Unless its agreed with the admins ) streaming/sharing replays is forbidden and will be punbished with disqualification.
Qualification & finals replays shall be given to Casey right after the matches are done. You can send them by mail, or upload them to some filesharing site http://www.speedyshare.com
Huge thanks to the following people for helping us so far: DiMiaN, 2Pacalypse-, Voddy,Piraya, Madinho,SynC[gm],Hellscream,Hasske

Actually i agree with you, and i would not do what i did normaly. But Julia deserves nothing better. He is so bm, espacially when he lose, but making fake rumors that your opponent is a notorius hacker and say that in public, with not a single evidence, well, then i dont care to tell him this either in public.
Anyways, lets not focus on that, enjoy the event, and boys/girls, READ THE RULES. two people already failed to do that and had to reset. I accepted that since we started this just a few hours ago. But its expected that the participant know the rules of the event they participate in, as i said earlier, the punishment will be much harder if people dont follow theese rules because it was boring to read all of them ^^

Woooooooow
lol
He accused me of hacking, too. But I''m not sure how I feel about this. I see Julia more as a village fool than as some one actually offensive. He just walks around drunk and insults every one who he loses to. And after having accused every member of the town of serious crimes, he can't be taken seriously any more.

i dont see it in the rules so i will ask here. its ok if i play offrace some games in the ladder stage ?

On September 17 2014 17:24 [sc1f]eonzerg wrote: i dont see it in the rules so i will ask here. its ok if i play offrace some games in the ladder stage ?
I think it should be. Imo people should be allowed to switch race for every match if they want to.I dont agree that people should be limited to only one race. I think it requires more skills to be able to change race after map/opponent. So i say yes to offracing, racepicking in ladderstage. I think it should be allowed all the time, but i will discuss that with the other admins, since i know people are very splitted regarding this.
But for ladderstage you can safely change race as you want

why banned Julia? is a rly worth to play with and try to win.

The map pack doesn't apply to the ladder stage, right? I can play on any iCCup map, as long as I don't do more than 60% of my games on FS?
As it isn't stated anywhere, I assume I can start playing before being accepted into the team.
|
I would advise everyone to lookout for the league as you may be banned without notice.
To prove he is -right- in an -argument- elsewhere he decided to ban me! :D
I accept personal likes/dislikes but one of the ideas of credibility is having an argument over your personal likes.
Rules 101: Don't disagree with casey or you will be banned. If you win vs madinho, you will be banned. If madinho discs you, you will be banned for disconnecting.
+ Show Spoiler +I wouldn't join this league now even if you revoked that ban, because you're defending an arguable player and are absolutely unpredictable who you will ban next. Else you would just say "nah" and moved on.

You can play any map during the ladder stage. Except for too much FS. I asked Casey.

Because im not intrested in giving liers and badmanners a free pass to any of my events wich i use my own time&money for, especially when he set out rumors about my teammate is hacking, simply cause he cant handle a loss. He accused Voddy for same thing when he lost to him. I want to make something exciting that as many people as possible can enjoy. You had nothing to lose on participating Julia, i have everything from you BM, Hack accusations, refusing to play like you did in MCA tour. I enjoy hosting tours, but i expect people to be atleast alittle thankful for all the work diffrent people around in the comunity does, you are not a person like that Julia, you will never get anything free from me as long as you behave as you do.
End of discussion..

Sign up with the name your most know of. Good luck

You had no arguments, so you decided to ban me. It just proves I'm right about certain players you're protecting thoughtless.
Are you talking about the same mca tour where I was in group with TT and Bony, and when Bonyth realized that he can't advance from such a group, they moved me to another group and gave him d-level playes, so he could advance? (he was donating money)
Or is it the mca tour where I win legit, and three Bulgarian players after repeted loses to my off-race decided to gang complain vs me to mca, who said they are wrong anyway. Yes, that is so fair play alc way.
Or is it the manner players which I do have some screenshots where they act 10x worse than me? xd Why look: http://oi57.tinypic.com/2z3vz0p.jpg it's one of your manner casters. I have more since you're all the same - pretending you're manner most of the time. Don't spread lies about me.

I am delighted to see this event. Kudos to the organizers. It may be only me who does not understand but I would ask an organizer (e.g. Casey) to clear up some things:
- First one is the tournament format. As far as I understand there is a ladder stage (league?) in the tournament, then there are two qualifiers (double-elimination?) for players at the top16 and between 17-32 places. I don't get where the group stage will be though.
-The second is the map pool. Is it mandatory to play these maps even throughout the ladder stage?
I think restricting the number of times you can play vs the same player is a bit outdated, given that we are lucky to get c- or above ranks joining our game. Thanks again for organizing the league!

this is his league julia he can do whatever he wants if he doesnt want to allow a person like yourself to join he is more than allowed just like how lrm)game didnt allow scan to play in any isl following the first its your fault for being a bm idiot

"Leaving before the 2 minute mark due to any disadvantage will be heavily punished."
Actually Iccup admin could fix that by giving a loss after 1min30 just as they did on fish.

I'm looking forward to a new team league, really miss that time of sbwi or gambit cup leagues.

Hi !
Its correct that its a ladder stage first, this will last until 18 October, and you may play any map you want until then, as long as it is in the iCCup mappack. when the ladder stage end this day the top 32 players will advance to group stage. ( what dont you understand ? Wich site we will use to make the groups ?
Regarding the restrict of how many games you can play vs same person in one day, if it turns out to be hard to get games like it often is without any even going on, then we will re consider this. But hopefully people are motivated to play more now as there is money involved. When we first speak about money, those who want to donate to make the prizepool larger, there is now a paypal link in the news on the first page of this thread. All donations are welcome, small or big dont matter, everything helps, the larger prizepool we manage to gather the better this event will be. More games, players. We can already see the potential of this event, more and more high level players are entering, and i know there is even more to come.
I hope you got the answears you were looking for Enjoy the show

iCCup Team chatbox IMPORTANT : Do not play over 50% Fighting spirit, there will be alot of games, and watching 200 games on FS will be extremly boring. Also, its good for everyone to prepare for the qualification maps.

Well, that is true, but there is also donation option, so you probably should behave more responsibly.
Also it is really unprofessional to just ban players on your wish or becouse of your personal reasons/dislikies. Many players are bm, probably some of the other participant as well. You should have just added a more precise paragraph concerning bm to the rules and make sure that players are punished accordingly to it.
Speaking of rules, if you can ban whoever you want, there should be a notice about it in the rules. No offence, but keep it a bit more professional.

I feel i made it pretty clear here what i think of people who dont manage to behave. Yes there will always be some bm, and as i said, we can live with it to a to a certain extent. What i want is simply to make an event that people can enjoy and be excited about. I wont ban anyone who is a little bm, but there is a line you should not cross, and Julia crossed that line long time ago, its a big diffrence in being bm, wich i could have lived with even from Julia, but claiming that people using hacks, and tru to convince the whole comunity about it without any evidence at all is something i wont tolerate. Its not the first time Julia does this, he have been after Madinho for a long time, aswell as he accused Voddy for the same thing. Im not intresed in discussing Julia anymore, i stated my opinion and made my choice.
So far the prize pool is donated by me,Voddy,Piraya and Madinho. You are right that there is an donation option for those who want to contribute. But that is each and everyone`s choice. If someone dont like the way i manage my events, they can simply decide not to contribute. I spend my own money and time to make something good for the comunity, i consider others opinions, i already adapted to some aspects of the event, but i have some rules that i wont change my mind about, like it or not.
We cant agree on everything, but you simply have to accept how i choose to host my evnents or decide for yourself that you dont want to take part in it

It is a bit ironic that you talk like that, ban for such reasons (bm in past) and simultaneusly cooperate with Game in the very same event.

Also it is really unprofessional to just ban players on your wish or becouse of your personal reasons/dislikies. Speaking of rules, if you can ban whoever you want, there should be a notice about it in the rules. No offence, but keep it a bit more professional.
First you tell me that im unprofessional for banning people for my own personal reasons/dislikes. ( You dont know what problems i have with Julia and not )
In your next post you find it ironic that i cooperate with Game, because you obviously dont like him and obvious have something against him. Are you aware that you are doing exactly the same as you claim i do ?
Continue posting here, but i wont go into a discussion with a troll who have no idea about what he is talking about, and only try to provoke. I suggest you try find yourself an hobby or atleast something else to do then talk shit about someone who try to do something good that benefits the whole comunity. People like you are simply just bad for the comunity.

In the group stage, every player plays a best of 3 vs all other members of his group. During this stage, the first map is always Mist. After that, the loser picks. Two players advance from each group based on the amounts of wins and losses, leaving 16 players.
A win gives 2 points, and a loss takes away 1 point. If there is an even number of points between more than two players, there will be tiebreaker games, in which the players who have the same amount of points all play each other in best of one games. The same rules for scoring apply: +2 points for a win, -1 for a loss.

Players are not allowed to pick the same map twice during qualification&finals
Does this mean, you are not allowed to pick the same map versus different opponents during the whole single elimination stage up to the finals?

The Idea By an initiative of myself, this post was born. I wanted to explain how a page can get better by removing the fluff.
Introduction Hi! I am ChapatiyaqPTSM, here to tell you things. "What can those things be?" you say. Well let me tell you. Just think about a standard Wikipedia page. Do you think people write like that in their articles? No. Same goes for Liquipedia.
In this spoiler, is a quick analysis of the rest of the Liquipedia page User:SynC(gm)/Alchemy League in its current state: + Show Spoiler +Introduction Stick to the facts, remove the fluff. You can mention that part of the prize pool comes from donations, but Liquipedia is not a place to ask for donations (very close to advertising, so no-no). It's not a place to recruit people.
Rules Rules are acceptable, but not necessary, really.
Tournament Information Prize pool table -> OK Personal excitement -> not information Trying to recruit people again -> not information Asking for donations a little too much, again -> not information
Schedule OK
Map Pool OK
Credits No credits because they are personal. An acceptable alternative is a table of the organization, mentioning each member and their role, as long as it is not too big.
Racial Distribution OK
External links OK
The general idea is when writing for the main space of Liquipedia, you are not yourself, you are Liquipedia. That means no opinion, no personal shoutout, no first-person sentence. Stick to the information. Look at any other Liquipedia tournament page, and see how it is different from your page. Keep the personal things for the TL thread.

What? This channel is for free help. You type your nickname and enter, ask question and get help live. The editing is up to you - or you can convince anyone to edit for you there. People in that channel are helpful.
Not sure if serious or just a little too thick on your end about the money.

I really have no idea how the quake.net/irc really works. And its not my top priority, i try to make a decent event with the limited knowledge i have of hosting events and manage everything that needs to be done, it was alot more then i expected. I would love to have a liquipedia, aswell as someone writing some news article. But my knowledge here is very limited, so i ask for help here at tl.net forum, i know there is people capable to help out, if they are willing to contribute is another question. But be sure, i wont start paying people to help me with this. ( Unless i asked for someone to do some really advanced work ) I spend my own money on this, alot of my time, and hopefully someone else decide to contribute aswell, for the love of BW and not for money.
Thx for the offer, but this project is not so serious that i will start using money on a techcrew. I belive its possible to host this or some similar event every season, and even make a higher prizepool. Im willing to give it another try later, but it will require that i have more people helping me, cause atm this is to much time consuming, and if i diddent have as much spare time as i do atm, i would never be able to manage this.

Forget about the payment part. If you go to the link I sent you, type in ANY nickname you'll findyourself in IRC. There you can ask ALL editors of ALL wikis to help you out. Seriously, it's as easy as it gets. Ordinary B-net is nothing but IRC with a different look. A monkey can do that.
Maybe you find someone nice enough to clean up the page in the IRC chan. If that's too much for you, cause you're super busy with organizing this event, then you should reconsider if you really do organize at all.

Trying to clean up the Liquipedia page since I didn't even realize it was sent back to my userpage...
Casey, are there exact dates for when the ladder stage ends and when the group stage games are intended to be played? I see that you deleted the dates from the OP.
Also... "If two or more players have the same amount of points, the player with the higher ladder qualification spot gets the higher numbered spot." I know the possibility isn't very high, but what if the two player had the same number of points during the group stage AND the ladder stage? Again, not a high chance, but I feel like you could use some clarification there, just in case...

I will update the thread tonight. If i dont misunderstand, are you offering to help out with the liquipedia ? I assume so, since you ask and you are the on who created the page ? I can PM you all info/content you want/need. ( Sorry if im misunderstanding you here )
Regarding two players have same points after ladderstage and group stage ( Wich is highly unlikely) i have not tought about this. Im open to suggestions. But i think we can make them select a number between 1-20 and closest one gets best seeding.

One last reply to this:
Edited. The IRC Channel would be a place to require help. It is not any different than adding someone via Skype and talk to him. Except there's a channel with 50+ knowledgeable people. Most won't play BW, but would help you out nonetheless. However, the attitude "I don't get that, nor do I have time to maybe fix one or two things on my own" won't help. That's the nature of things and that's one way to not treat potential helpers, if you want help.
Aside from that, I fixed up the Wiki page and wrote Sync a PN. Be thankful you have Sync and treat him nice. It should be more than just doable to add results from here on out.
To stress out what Chapa said again:
The Wiki is not a tool you use to actively organize the event. Rules, asking for donations and shout outs (credits) do not belong there. Rules can be added if there is an exceptional reasoning behind it, e.g. if Koreans are prohibited from participating, or rules having an effect on the mode (see XSplit Random Invitational, Shout and Tell for Random 1v1).
Yet, the Wiki can be used as helpful add-on to organizing. This means you can use it to distribute/display information. It is ok to have standing tables, grids and results there, but "not" in the thread (not recommended to leave out results there). That's partially how DRTL, TLS and others used it. But the main effort of judging cases, or whatnot, is done in the forums, via Skype or elsewhere.

You were banned for bm admins/caster. I said it before and i can say it again, my tolerance vs bm ppl or who only got negative shit to post is very short. If you dont like the event, simply dont follow it. If you got any ideas/suggestion/constructive criticism, im more then willing to listen.
banned? :D I was asking these same type of questions the couple times I watched. It would be something like Sziky vs 40% winrate D+ protoss.
With 4000 games played in less then 1month, there will obvious be alot of bad replays.. We cant stick to casting only the top players either, i tried to make it a bit balanced, but i did make one bad mistake and mix some crappy replays together with a reppack with good games ready to be casted. Im sorry for that, anyways, i had hoped for more viewers from our casts. Maybe its a mix of a completly new caster and the fact that its still ladderstage.

If anything I supported your league, I would post in the threads that the cast is live. BM admins/caster? It was constructive criticism that apparently, you cannot handle. Keep casting 200-300 record D+ max players vs and A- player who can get 90% winrate. See how many viewers want to see Sziky vs D+ max after 500 games. Good luck!

It was not constructive criticism at all. First of all i tried to explain to you that i made a mistake and mixed some shitty replays with the good ones, though that was just a few games. If you watched all the casts you will notice that there has been some really good games from those 4000 replays and not so bad as you want it to be..
The thread is now updated
