I'm proud to sponsor on behalf of TheBGH.com and its community the Brood War: Open Heat Tournament. As time grows dim, this beautiful game that we play will eventually die. I'm hoping, that as a community we can continue a great legacy. I hope everyone can come out to this event and show, why this is the best RTS game ever created. I wish all the players the best of luck. gl hf and let the games begin!

Prize Pool
1st : $260 2nd: $140 3rd: $67
Format
Qualifiers: 3 open qualifiers will be held. 3 players will qualify from each qualifier to the round-robin stage. Each match up to Ro8 is Bo1. Semifinals, finals, and third place matches are Bo3. Although semifinals winners are already qualified, finals are still played for bragging rights!
Round-robin stage: The 9 qualified players face each other in best of 1 matches.
Playoffs: Top 4 players from the round-robin stage advance to a double-elimination bracket. They are seeded based on their round-robin placement.
The tournament will have a total of three qualifiers. You must sign-up for each qualifier you want to participate in, and check in before each qualifier.
Check-in for each qualifier starts at 18:00 CET and closes at 19:00 CET on each day. Be sure to show up and be ready to play your matches!
As mentioned earlier, there are 9 places attainable through 3 open qualifiers.
Finally a tournament involving sayle and elegant as casters! Also great banner it feels like playing on this sunny beach (would be so good to have some beachy barcraft too).
Cool, but where is the buttong "remove Andromeda"? this map is so fat and old and so not entertaining. We need more like a 3 pos map, Aztec for instance or Tau Cross.

It will be open in the next few days. We're having a few issues with the TL qualifiers system. We may use iCCup system if we can't resolve them and iCCup is ok with it. Nothing to worry about!
Can I donate £10 or so to the prize pool? Not much but I can't get to Korea to buy any of Sonics shoes anytime soon and encouraging foreigners to keep playing is just as worthy cause.

PM KoS-Templar since he's the main (only so far) sponsor and will be the one responsible for sending the money to the winners.
I would suggest to everyone if you really care about BW to also donate. I'm sure everyone can afford at least 5 dollars if we can get the prize pool even higher its going to attract more quality players and more viewers.
I don't like and intensely mistrust paypal. It just seems like a really bad idea to me. But I will register an account.
and then probably change all my card details in the next few weeks so they don't have my correct information.
edit: What awful security questions 'What’s the name of your first school?" "What’s the name of the hospital you where born in?
It would be completely impossible for people to find this freely available information. Distrust increasing. I guess you could answer the question incorrectly but then you have to remember what you said to them.

Sorry, Paypal is the only way I know how to send money to other people accross the country. If you like you may send the players themself your donation.

No its O.K I'll sign up and send the money. I just distrust a company storing my credit card information on their servers. I'm going to have to change my credit card information anyway because Amazon has done the same thing. At no point did I knowingly click or agree to them storing my card information. If you want to buy something you should have to put the information in that time and the companies should not retain your information. Anyway this is all off subject and nothing to do with Broodwar so I'll stop ranting.
Anyway That's pretty much a token gesture if no one else donantes but hopefully a few others will and we can get something magical going here.
Can you send beer to Sayle and Elegant by paypal? I think they will deserve it for doing this.
Andromeda is a map I originally didn't like that actually grew on me in the end. Circuit Breaker by comparison always looked T>>>Z. Outsider rocks and I like seeing more of Bloody Ridge as I personally haven't seen much of it in tournaments (didn't see much of the proleague in which it was used). This looks nice!

While it's stupid that the questions are asking for such easily accessible information (for some at least), have you considered answering the question with the answer to a different question that others would not know? You make the answer something that is an incorrect answer for the actual question and which does not even make any sense as an attempted answer, but which makes sense to you because you know the real question that's you're imagining being asked. "What was your first pet's name" and then you answer with the square root of 143677981 to 9 decimal places, something you just happened to have memorised once (or something like that).
Yea he is tiny and he wear vests all the time. Conclusion he is not a foreigner , also he is talking while he is raging with no caps lock and perfect grammar and punctuations.NOT A FOREIGNER !

Are u some crazy fanatic of those guys? Im sure dsaqwe gave 3-0 scan pvt and trutacz also rape fengzo zvz and i my self won him, dont worry guys we are safe!
The iCCup tournament system does not allow to hide specific rounds in the tournament bracket. Because semifinals, finals, and 3rd place match are going to be casted from replays, we kindly ask semi-finals winners to NOT upload their replays to iCCup in order to not spoil results. Instead, semi-finals results should be communicated to the tournaments admins present on the channel "Op OpenHeat".

I don't doubt or deny dsaqwe and you beating scan and fengzi. Let's face it, in a series of games with a bigger sample size, either of them will destroy any foreigner. They have both achieved a higher fish rec with a better record than any "top foreigner". Statistics speak for themselves.
I like how every time I open this thread the prize pool is bigger than the last time i checked.
I have hugely liked FengZi's zerg for a long time now on various levels but I think if we were LAN teammates practicing against each other frequently, I believe at least I wouldn't be lagging behind even moderately in our head-to-head games (i like massgaming so that would make for hundreds of games samplesize). in pingy b.net conditions, i really don't care comparing foreigners to scan and fengzi or any other korean/chinese. imho in actual LAN games, for instance Sziky, would be performing significantly better vs Scan and FengZi (when all of them are around the same level of activity (sziky currently very inactive afaik?)) than in the conditions that they have played mostly so far. I might be wrong, but (i think) at least in the foreseeable future we won't have enough actual LAN samplesizes to be able to judge objectively

would love to join and lose r1 in one of the weekend qualifiers, but don't know which one I can make
They're open until 1 hour before the qualifiers start. Also there is check-in phase and the bracket is generated only for players who have checked-in. This way, you can always register, and if you can't make it you will not be put in the bracket, so no worries.
Too bad I will miss day one quals, but I wish all the players the best of luck. Also I would like to thank -2pac, Endy and TL and its staff for making this possable. See you on b-net

Oh Sayle did make VOD's, cool. Nevermind this then. There aren't really going to be VOD's because of the way this works and the number of games played. The games where all played and the more entertaining replays sent to Sayle to cast. So Sayle has sat down and informally gone through some of the replays and commentated on what happened. So you can watch Sayle's broadcast again but there are unlikely to be proper VOD's at this stage of the tournament.

Yeah even now I live in London, my internet is still up and down like crazy. Before when I lived in the countryside, and casted from a converted barn with a 50M ethernet cable stretched across the garden, it was sort of excusable. But hilariously, even that was better!
