The games sucked this week. TvT needs to be exceptional to be entertaining, and this week it certainly wasn't. GF played scared, like a toss playing July. It was sad. July makes ZvP look impossible, and was clearly very comfortable playing a passive toss. Pusans build was expected and Midas knew it was coming before he entered the arena. Oov Boxer was very forgetable. Tankdropgolydropboom...yawn.

Hope they clean this up nice next week so we can get it over with. The thing that sucks from my point of view is that July is going to rape his way up to the finals regardless of who wins, but Pusan/Midas is the only interesting MU of the 4 right now. So basically, the only fun one is a non-factor because neither of them can beat July.

If the finals aren't Boxer vs July this OSL will be the biggest waste of time ever. Bleh.

" Pusans build was expected and Midas knew it was coming before he entered the arena."

No he didn't --; hidden gates didnt happened once at training and he got badly beat by the strategy he used... Only Pusan let it slip

Incorrect sir. Midas used a 2 fact build rather than the FE terran build that he invented, perfected, and uses at nausium at all times.

He specifically 2 facted because dt builds fucked him up in practice. He also scouted deliberately to find the proxys.

I don't know where you're getting your information from, but just watching the game, how he played, and how he deviated from his typical style should be enough to tell you that. If midas didn't put mines in his own mineral line like a douche bag the game would've been straight up rape rather than the drawn out escapade we witnessed.

Pusan vs Midas:

Probably most interesting game of all.

Pusan should've stopped his DT production after blowing up 10+ SCVs. A nice goon + ob would've probably done the trick.

Oov vs Boxer:

Don't really remember what happened, standard TvT? Don't recall any highlights.

July vs Rock:

Raped, no questions asked. I don't know what Rock could've done to prevent his loss. Maybe a more aggressive build?

GF vs. Casy:

I was so sure that GF was going to win this OSL, but Casy just destroyed him. I didn't like GF's build order one bit. Biomech vs Terran? Hmm...

KTF almost never wins anything. Just about every KTF player was very successful before joining the team.
During practice session, I discovered very good build against zerg. -Bisu[Shield]

Well it has only been a short time since GF joined KTF so his loss against Casy can't really be looked at too closely, but obviously the change of environment has helped him yet. We'll see if it ever does.

Either way, KTF has a rack of hasbeens playing Terran (as much as I love TheMarine it's true) so GF was still a good player to add.

These draws for the quarters have created some of the most boring matches ever. Rock against anyone but July so there would be a decent battle, and all 4 terrans playing each other on the same side of the bracket...no thanks?

Pretty brutal. Seems an OSL without Reach is doomed for failure before it starts.

Hopefully Duel round 2 ends well and we get a better player draw for the next one.

All I can say is, if Casy beats the winner of Boxer/Oov I will cry and possibly emo out in the corner of my room for the rest of the year.

If Midas didn't put mines in in his own mineral line, he would have lost the comsat. If Midas loses the comsat, he would be forced to put mines there anyway; most likely, he would not have survived. The best he could have done was constantly monitoring his SCVs to save them from DT suicide attacks. Considering the pressure, Midas did very well.

That's why when Midas played against July the last time, he completely raped him like a no name newbie?

.....

July isn't invincible against ANY terran, especially against a powerhouse like Midas.

If Pusan advances, July gets an easy trip to the finals. There is no chance a P is going to take out July in a bo5.

If Midas advances, more likely than not, he will rape July in the semis. Though most likely he won't win in it all due to his terrible TvT.

The final everybody is hoping for is July versus Boxer, but a Casy/July final would also be great. Casy is capable of getting thru oov, but unless Boxer choke there is no way Casy will beat him at his own game. Midas versus July is anyone's game, for once I agree with tfeign. Most people are underrating Midas in both TvZ and TvT, and if July don't micro like a maniac he will die versus a monster terran like Midas.

Dream games this osl:
Midas vs Pusan game 3 turning out to be a mass macro game
Boxer taking on the new emperor for the final spot in the semis
The instant classic final where Boxer battle it out with July, much more for the pride and respect that the money.

Actually, i'm rather happy about the way this is turning out. With only three macro players left out of 6 there is hope for sc still.

casy is not beating oov or july. he said himself that the maps favor builds more than skill. you honestly think that oov/july can't think of builds just as good? not to mention the fact that oov and july can do anything in the game better than casy? i mean comeon. oov would just macro rape casy, and all the M&M micro in the world couldn't save casy against july's zerg. even boxer/oov/midas would have to pull out their A game to win, an A game casy doesn't have.

dude the 3 macro players left are midas, pusan, and oov. casy is more a hope for starcraft than any of these guys?

note, quote from casy: The maps this league are focused on strategy and build preparation than skill. While I was practicing I tried the same build that GoodFriend used today but it didn't feel that good. Goliaths felt better, so I changed my strategy.

Player most likely to win this OSL is Boxer, if he can take out oov.

Casy won't be a problem for Boxer.

Pusan will be the biggest threat for Boxer. However, chances are huge Pusan will not make it to the finals. He's likely going to lose to Midas next week, and if he does manage to beat Midas, he will not beat July in the semis. There isn't a P alive that can take out July in a bo5 PvZ.

Midas is likely to go to finals if he can take out Pusan. Midas vs July will be a good series. I'm giving the edge to Midas. His tvz is really good, while July's zvt is inconsistent. Midas did raped july hard the last time they played. But Midas's TvT is nowhere near Boxer's level. So if Midas makes it to the finals, Boxer will take him out

Then finally, July. If July does manage to edge out the win over Midas, he will likely crumble to Boxer in the finals. Boxer has stomped all over July every single time they played for a while now, so there's not a lot of reasons to believe that this time it'll be much different.

My bet to win this OSL is on Boxer.

I agree, the biggest threat to Boxer is oov right now. If he can win the last game he has an easy road to the finals.

[/b]

Was not talking about casy there, but the trend of the macro players failing is great imho. The three left here are also not the pure macro type we are bored of, they all know how to mix it up and win in style.

I would not be as surprised as many others to see casy beat oov. Oov is great and all, but it can be compared to a boxer/oov game, where the two different styles clash. So far its 4-3 in macro terrans favor (osl). I would not expect Casy to beat oov, but I'd say he got a real chance compared to other terrans with different playing styles. And his TvZ was always his best mu, so I would rate his chances versus July as large as 40-45%.
