You can find all the maps in the latest ICCUP map pack here.
Format:
Teams will play one bo5 each week with lineups submitted by Wednesday night. A different player must be sent for each of the five maps. The selected players will play a bo1 to decide the outcome for that map.First to three maps won wins the match however you should play out all the games. Teams must use all races if possible in each match.
Rules:
If you have an issue during match time please contact CobaltBlu on iccup to resolve it.
- No BMing
- Winning team sends replays to dteamleague@gmail following the matches.
- Standard ICCUP rules apply
- No excessive chatting, ie do not be distracting during the middle of the game
- If two players are race pickers they must announce their races before joining the game.
- Players need to identify which team they are playing with in their profile during match time.
- Players must play using the ID they used to sign up.
- Games must be played on the maps listed in the schedule.
- Maps must come from the latest ICCUP mappack.
- If a player disconnects in the first three minutes then a regame will be granted. If the same player disconnects again they will be d/q. Any disconnect after three minutes will be reviewed by CobaltBlu unless one of the players willingly forfeits.

Love the idea, but why make it at the ICCup CL time? I'd love to participate, but when I'm at home saturdays I ususally organize and cheer for my "real" team that plays in Clanleague and if there aren't enough players for my team I have to play even. I don't know if I'm the rare exception but wanted to point it out at least. What about 1:00 pm EST? Or 11:00 am at sunday?
Another point is that you should extend team size or you'll have huge activity problems. I can assure you that it will NEVER happen that everyone from a team shows up all the time.
Anyways, nice initiative. :-)

I would message as many clanleaders as possible- encourage them to get their lower level players into this league, or better still, form a team-division to play in this league for players who wouldn't usually get the chance.

I looked at your profile and considering your win rate I'm ok with this.
The league will start once we have enough people to organize into teams to play. If sign ups continue at anything like this pace that will be very soon.

I'm thinking about changing the time because there were a number of complaints about the start time. However, it is difficult to schedule a time when the whole world can play that doesn't conflict with people ability to watch other tourney's. Turns out foreigner BW is pretty busy and event filled!

I saw that it was proleague format. But is there any reason it isn't winners league format? Seems more exciting (more strategy, and who doesn't love all-kills :D) and it will compensate if players don't turn up.

Yes. The goal of this is to get new players or lower ranked players a way to get involved in something BW related.

I think winners league style would be a lot of fun too but I think it would be hard for the lower level players on the team to get motivated if their chances of playing hinged on whether or not their d+ players went on a rampage that day. Proleague style gives everyone a chance to play.
Renzy unfortunately I don't think it makes a lot of sense for someone who can make it to C-/C rank so comfortably with their main to offrace in the league.

I had the same problem with Windows 7 but I dealt with it by killing the explorer before starting the game. It works perfectly for me at least.

This is for everyone who is new, go for it! There is no minimum skill and it's open to all. Worst comes to worst just sign up, and if you really, really don't want to play your team wouldn't have to field you.

I updated the teams in the OP with the new players. Teams will cap out at 8 players each with 8 teams.

This is just an oversight on my part. I had it as a BO5 for when I was unsure of how many players would sign up and believed we would have only had 6-5 per team. I've updated this in my op.

I answered his PM with the accounts, ranks and races before the tour has 8 teams, i didn't rececive an answer yet. I need an answer . And watching the amount of players that are sining up, i think we can easyly reach the 10 teams, like iccup CL does.

Have some patience please, if you had any idea how much work he's been putting into this maybe you wouldn't feel so entitled to instant replies. No need to start complaining right away, especially after such a short time. He looked at your team and he's thinking about it. He said he was worried that your team had so many D+, but wait for him to reply please, organizing a tournament and putting together teams that are balanced both in ranks and races for this many people isn't easy. So please try to be a little bit more respectful when he's been putting in all this work for no pay.
Cool to see so much interest though! I don't think any of us expected this many people to sign up, especially so fast.

And yes, the D+ thing, i think we have 1 low D+ 1 D+ and 1 high D+. if you consider that is too much, we can change the team a liitle. Mostly because the high D+ is not sure about his time, and we don't know is he can play all the saturdays.

They're not, but people keep asking to join anyways even though the others have already been denied! If you can get to C- with one race, chances are your off-race will be C- in a much shorter time frame than those who struggle with their main races, and it wouldn't be fair to the people who don't have the general mechanics and knowledge of a solid C- and above rank.

Feel free to freelance coach with the teams if you want to. I left the option open for players to coach if they wanted to but no one really offered to do it.

Whats the protocol for people that used to be C- almost 2 years ago, before sc2 beta and have gone down to a D/D- level with their main race after playing sc2 till now :D (aka me)

The schedule will be up as soon as possible and Cobalt will update with all the necessary info as we get closer to kicking things off. Most of the focus has been on putting together the teams and getting them balanced, both in race distribution and rank distribution. Everything else will be there soon, don't worry.

And how are going to be choosen the opponentes. I mean, in iccupCL there were a system that used to chose your opponent randomly. An opponent that showed up that day. So we have to agree?

Well i don't see the problem. It's not very hard to have 6 available players for a match when you are 8 per teams. You know the date of your match so it's easy to organize your things before it starts.

This league is every saturday and thus will be on the 24th and 31st of december, so I think this is a pretty bad date for most of the europeans (since we have it 5pm on the playdates). So it would be kind of a cool thing that every team has 1 or 2 wildcards (postponing a clanwar). Or you could reschedule it, so these two dates will be moved till january or something?

I saw this when I was making the schedule. I was thinking that instead of just skipping those weeks entirely I would move the games forward a couple days since people will hopefully have time off around then.

I'm confused on how the format is going to work for the D rank tournament.
Is each player going to play a bo7 against a member of the opposing team?
Is the team playing a bo7 with one player assigned to one match/map so that when the round is over, 7 players on your team will have each played one match of the different maps?
Is it play until you lose so that one player could score an all kill?

It will be 6 different people play one game, then a player can be sent out again in the Ace Match if it goes to set 7.

I think it would be better to play BWCL style, so a player can play at least 2 matches >_<

well some games gonna be casted so its better if its BO1 , its too long otherwise.
Besides since the point of this tournament is fun it is more fair for weaker players to be BO1 than BO3 couse they can win BO1, games gonna be more unpredictable .
Im sure im gonna play at least once some troll C lvl guy whos gonna own me hard , in that case i wouldnt even show in the set 2 couse whats the point ...
so... to sum up imo in this tournament its more fair and entertaining if its BO1

If both dont have open ports it wont work if the coach leaves though. I for one cant open my ports (something wrong with my router i believe) so this is gonna be a problem for me (and many others) playing this tournament.

Bo3 just gets ridiculously long; when people start having to show up at 9 and not have to play a match till 12 that's no good.

And if there is a cast, then the caster can choose 2-3 Bo3 he will cast, so the players will not wait as long as you imagine.
Just make a poll and if Bo1 wins, I am fine with it. The thing is I cannot understand why you would rather have a Bo1 instead of a more skillbased Bo3. Why would you want someone to luck a win against a better player (by cheese, build order win, etc.). I can imagine that there will be much cheese, since there is always a player, who thinks he is worse then his opponent. One way or another I cannot see anything, which shifts the favor into the Bo1 direction.
TL;DR:
Pls make a poll about Bo1 or Bo3.

Were going to play bo1 because we are going with a bo7 format so more people can play bo3 for every match would just take too much time. I also think that bo1 games in a team format are really fun to play and exciting.
Games can be played concurrently as long as you make sure you get all the maps in correctly and send the replays to the provided email quickly.
If there are lat problems then someone can host and leave the game immediately. If for some reason they have a conflict after that then the teams simply need to send other players so people can play. Please open your ports if you can.
If enough players do not show up to the match then you get walk-overs for how many maps you cannot field a player on. Obviously if you win 3 matches then you can send one of your previous players for the deciding match. If a player on your team never responded to initial contact please send me a PM so that we can resolve the issue.

But if the games can be played concurrently then the whole clanwar will be over after about 30 minutes (10 minutes orga + 1 x 20 mins average each game). I really cannot see how about 1 hour for a clanwar can be too long?
Anyways one more point I want to know, why no observer? If both players agree and it is not laggy, then why not? In the end this is a FUNleague and why would anyone would cheat in such a league? Seriously when this league consists of Bo1, then you can play it consecutively, so more people can enjoy the war.
Just make a rule "If one player complains ingame about lag, then every obs needs to leave". If a Obs does not leave the game, he will be banned from obsing for the rest of the league.

No observer cause some might steal other player play style ( oh well , this is the only reason i could think of ) but i personally dont mind having observer =P
and please bo1 lol , bo3 is boring , dont have the excitement , bo1 you can cheese and win, bo3 is harder .

You guys forget we have 9 weeks of games.. A bo3 would be great if it was one set or two sets, but we have 9 and then playoffs. Plus there is the holiday season coming up.. Its best to stick to a bo1 so people can commit to other things in their lives over the weekends. At least for the first season. Keep the bo7 CobaltBlu.
What happens if we don't get 6 players? I have a feeling that we should either drop it to a bo5 or allow one or two people to play twice incase their teams dont all show. Maybe make it so that if player A plays twice (excluding Ace match) week 1, he cannot play twice again until all other players have played twice. This would allow for a lot of flexiblity for the holiday season as I'm sure a lot of people will be traveling and we have 80 players to accommodate (I know I will.. And I dunno what my internet scene will be like when I'm not home...)
Also, do the games HAVE to be played at 8am PST? If both teams agree, can we push it back to like mid-day? (Assuming most players are in the West Coast and all agree). I dunno about you guys, but I don't play my beset that early in the morning I know we have a lot of people to accommodate around the world.. some people have to stay up till 3am or something ridiculous. So maybe have a rule that all games must be reported by Sunday night, and players can work among themselves over the weekend or week to . For organization's sake I think each team should select a 'captain' and report that person to CobaltBlu so he can bold the captain's name in the player roster. This would allow any player from to contact a person form a given team if needed to reschedule a game or something.
I dunno.. lol just throwing out ideas.. thoughts?

While chrisolo needs to accept that the matches are going to be a bo1 this time around I am considering introducing some flexibility into the play time. I can't micromanage all of that however and I would need teams that are having difficulty playing at the appointed time to contact each other, come to an agreement and contact me with a new play time afterwards.
The obs rule is in place so there aren't ten complaints every weekend that obs made the game lag or obs was cheating. If someone wants to watch a game that badly they can watch a replay or ask for their teams games to be streamed.

I think bo1 for sets and bo5 for matches are the best.
Anything other then bo1 for a set would take too long and most teams are like 8 players so in a lot of cases a player will have to play 2-3 times per match if it was bo7.

I know its late to ask for this but I feel like forcing the players to learn so many maps is too much. Most of the players involved are going to be putting a lot of effort into improving and expecting them to learn so many maps is going to really hurt them in their practicing. This event is for the players and not for the spectators (like gambit cup) so I think it would be a lot better to only have 3 maps each week.

Actually I really like this, keeping FS for familiarity then only having 2 maps players would have to learn. For instance I only really know FS and just am not going to have the time to try and learn 5 or 6 other maps. However, I think if this router was chosen the 2 non FS maps should be the current/new PL maps.

Rather the same 3 maps every week.

They are all really similar maps and easy to learn.

So in my game against breakneckspeed, he does a nice push which decimates my army but I manage to throw back with only one probe lost. When I move out with obs I have some sloppy control and get rocked by mines I saw him plant and could see with observer, then I launch a completely fail reaver drop. Then my game crashes. So I tell break, he had me dead to rights, gg wp, but he lets me have a rematch anyways. More manner than an artosis pylon.
Second game I crashed out again, and told break to take the win.
I'll be sure to use a more stable computer next week!

Thanks for putting this together! I think it's been a great success so far and can't wait to watch and play more games and see everyone improve and have some fun with the game. Hey for the next round I think we should really consider (what I brought up before) reducing the number of maps used. I think it will make preparation a lot smoother for the players and the coaches. I think a lot of people would agree with me that this is a good idea so unless someone can come up with a good reason that I am incorrect it would be nice if this change could go into effect now.

You can upload longer videos by authorizing your account or something. I think they ask you to enter a phone number, then you enter the code they give you and you can upload longer videos.

I have some suggestions for how things could be run better.
First, you should've made every team appoint some sort of leader or representative for their team.
Lineups should be sent to the organizer of the tournament so people can know what matchup they're practicing for and it also helps makes things a little more organized.
The times the games are played should be more flexible. 8am PST is seriously such a horrible time for people living in PST. So you could have the representatives of each team set up a better time where more people from each team will show up.
The teams should've been organized by timezone so the members of each team could be online at the same time more often.

I updated the rosters a little bit to hopefully get the teams more active. I also changed some of the rules. I took out the /dnd and no obs rules, it is just too hard for me to enforce and causing problems, so please use your head when you include an obs in the game. I also went back to a bo5. I really wanted to do a bo7 so more people could play but it doesn't look realistic for every team to get 6 players to show up to play every time.
I wanted to use the first week as a kind of test week to see how things would flow and a number of things stood out to me.
1) I need better communication lines with the team representatives. If you have been communicating with me for your team I'm going to send you a PM to get skype/IM info from you.
2) Holgerius suggested this before I got a chance to make this post but arranged schedules of players from each team would make things go much more smoothly and give people a matchup to focus practicing on.
3) I mentioned earlier that I had been thinking about introducing some flex time in the schedule. ie. if your team is mostly west coast players and making game time is really difficult for you and you can get the other team to agree to play at another time on the weekend that would be fine as long as you notify me beforehand. Please give me some feedback on this.

It would be nice if we could make it 1-2 hours earlier, and make it so we can play all the games concurrently. Then i can just play my game at 2am and sleep Last time I had to wait till 4:30am to play my game, coz of the streamer. Next time just stream the replays imo lol.
EDIT: Oh perhaps teams should declare which players are playing what position in advance???
Also for hype reasons, maybe have the current week showing in the OP (not in a spoiler).

Yeah.. the timing isn't good. Its never going to be good (because the earth is round ). 8am here in PST is pretty bad. 1-2 hours earlier would really screw us harder. I would like 1-2 hours later if anything. But then this screws you over
We need a better system fosure. I see no urgent reason for all games to be played concurrently or at once or all at one time. We are not good players... We just all love the game and want to get better. Sure its entertaining to have all 80 players online at once and all games played together, but this isn't a viable option for many. I'd rather have some awesome games in a way that it could help us all improve - we need to know exactly when our game is going to be played and we need to have enough time to practice and prepare for it and play at a reasonable hour (I played my game 8am).
Anyways, heres a solution that I think might work. CobaltBlu obviously can't micromanage every set. It has to fall on the teams to do so. I mentioned this in a previous post. Once each team rep has been picked - bold the rep's name on the roster so other players on other teams know who to contact. The league starts Sat 8am PST - and ends Sunday 12pm PST (Games are due by this time - if not, there will be severe consequences ). So the first three sets are decided ahead of time and each player can contact their opponent and play them when both are free (obviously its preferable to have the majority of games played at the same time, but I'd rather sacrifice that and have more and better games played over the weekend). Then the team leader assigns the last two sets if needed. Remaining games are then played whenever first possible. All games are then reported by the end of the weekend - I know this makes casting really hard, but if everyone is in the loop on when each game is going to be played it could work out great! Also if each team stays organized and all players know when they should play we could easily keep the bo7 format.
Could we set up a google doc or something that can be shared and edited easily to keep track of whos playing who? Or is there already another website set up that allows for easy teamleague set organization (kind of like z33k for sc2.. I feel like a thread isn't good enough to organizing when each game is going to be played and on what order and map.. Its great for results and discussions)
Also, people HAVE to be active for this to work. People have to stick to their times and get on when they promise. Other wise ti wont work.

We just need some definite way to keep track of when each game should be played.

Edit 2: only problem with this is races dont show... solutions: look that up on the thread or add race to each player's name ie. sgs.kal_ra (p)

I think the concept of that is nice but the end result becomes very convoluted and there is something to be said for simplicity. Everyone signed up for the time I set this at and as Eywa suggested it is a little silly to bend everything around for the minority when most people showed up on time anyway. I wanted to find a way to do some flex time but it doesn't look very plausible to me so I'm going to strike out that idea. Thank you for the discussion.
I've collected almost all the team reps and will be highlighting them in the post later and communicating with them. They will basically be responsible for giving me the lineup each week.

I was thinking, wouldn't it be a good thing to use the current PL format with no ace game? I think that goes really nicely with the concept of this league, and it allows one more dude to get into the line-up each week.

I agree with that, as I had a walkover last week I was fearing missing the chance to play, it's a crappy feeling. Thankfully my team let me play the ace match. If it's Bo5 and 8 players per team there're already 3-5 people without the chance to play. The more players play the better.

I think its impossible to make everyone happy, CobaltBlu is making himself very available as a host and this is Cobalt's baby so I am just happy and excited to have this opportunity to be part of the SCBW community.
I am not saying that everything is perfect as there are many things that we need to fix but please I don't want to hear some of the common complaints that are getting ridiculously over abused.
Yes I have to play at 4am in the morning to play a game but I know that if we made it earlier most of the US would be a sleep or another country etc, Also Bo5 is a very smart decision especially with the constant loss of certain players week on week.
And I like what 'Theshimmy' said re bo5 it not about finding a winning player or finding the best players in fact, this is about getting D-/D/D+ players to get involved and encourage players to be part of a tournament without the discouraging pressure a Higher ranked tournament would have.

i personally think that bo7 with acematch is way better since more people can play and ace matches are quite awesome. teams can/need tp kinda recruit new player if the line up isnt deep enough and even if they are some wo s at first but there are still people intrested to participate in this league out there. There would be a bigger incentive to share our luv for bw and get more fresh blood in the scene. Furthermore i d like to see a changing mappool for each week even if u just change 1 or 2 maps per week and leave the "standard maps like fs and circuit breaker in the mappool. it d give the league a litte more variance and since its rather casual u could use 1 funmap per week

I updated the op with the complete schedule for teams that submitted them. I am trying to get two rosters out of two more teams so sorry to the guys that don't know what to practice for yet.

I like the Bo5, it gives players a chance to take a break especially because its a bad time for some players. I can't be fielded every week as it starts at 3am Sunday, and obviously Saturday is a day I go out and do stuff haha.

I played against sgs.gorg tonight, and had slayers_master and another sgs member obsing. i used a strategy that relied heavily on nukes, if they failed it was over for me. apparently because i used an orthodox strategy, gorg felt i was "too high rank" for the tournament... i think i played pretty bad, and i really do keep losing to D and D+ players on iccup because i haven't played in half a year or so. so i thought i could participate and try to use some fun builds as well, but people think that i'm just using it to have fun with lower ranked players. i think to avoid any such things from happening in the future, i think i'll withdraw. :/

Second is yeah well i knew ure better than me , i saw ure off race winning against C- lvl players 1 week ago (when meanwhile im begginner who plays that game for less than month and just wanted to have fun in that tournament) , but i was fine with it,
i was preparing some timing push to snipe you that failed sadly.
The thing why i got frustrated is because the entire game i felt like ure just playing with me (+ ur teammate made smily faces during game without ac on ) , even ur teammate said u could have easily be done with this game 30 mins earlier , and that was what i didnt like, i mean u can be better the opponent its np but that was just made me look like horrible noob which im probably am. uncool and humiliating.
But yeah u are right u didnt play it good i was surprised ure much worse than i expected u to be ure defienietely on that lvl i just suck vs unordinary things , i dont know why u bring that drama on here unless u want some followup to what happened.

I don't think that's necessary at all. There are other players who have been C- at one point in this tournament and I see no problem with it as long as you're not actually smurfing (which I don't think you are?). There is a huge difference between high D+ and D-, so a D- can easily feel completely outmatched by a D+ without anyone breaking any rules. That being said, if someone is clearly smurfing and several people complain about the same person being far too good for this league, I think Cobalt will be willing to have a look at it. No need to withdraw just because one person complains, although if there were other reasons for him to be angry (such as BM or distractions), that might call for a disqualification or something, but it's up for Cobalt to decide.

Honestly I don't see any drama. He just said that people felt that maybe his skills were too high for this league. If anything it sounds like he wants to avoid drama by just withdrawing even though he may not be at C- skill.

I'm less worried about someone like Kona who has been inactive for six months than I am about the people who signed up knowing the time but are super in-active. That's kind of lame for all the active teams who do show up and then don't have anyone to play against. -_- I hope Kona decides to not quit or at least work as some sort of coach for that team but that is up to him.

Hey Cobalt, is it possible to add a ninth player to our lineup (he's my friend)? He's pretty new to the game as he is a SC2 player but he wants to learn with a team instead of playing alone and I think that would be great for him and he could be available if we miss some players for a match like we almost always do

Glad some of you are enjoying the casts. I'm new to it but its fun to try and hopefully makes it a little more exciting for everyone involved.
On that note I am definitely open to feedback about things I can/should do better as a caster.
I also want to thank L_Master for the amazing casts of the teamOne games last Sat! This guys is for real! perhaps the next KlazartSC of the 'D ranks Team League' The best manner and enthusiasm you could ever ask for, I only realised the other day that I had been casted lol, it made watching my game 10 fold more entertaining! Pleased accept this as fan mail.

Yeh, L_Master is pretty cool. :D And he's an awesome player too; he had the most safe and solid play you could possibly have on this level in our game in week 1. Was a good feeling losing to a toss and knowing I lost because I was simply outplayed and not just losing to some stupid random bullshit. XD 'Twas an enjoyable game.

I'm glad people seem to be enjoying it but now ya'll gotta tell me what I can improve on to make it better. One thing I want to do for sure is getting the overlay; but I need to know if/how to make it work with non-window mode.
EDIT: The only downside is that only one series is getting casted per week; so I am considering casting from replays for all the matches a bit later in the day once all matches have been played.

Elaboration: Only me and Cr4zyh0r5e showed up. We both played our games and hoped that some other people would show up too. I won, nobody came during the time. Then Cr4zyh0r5e's game started, I left there. Later, I learned from CobaltBlu and Cr4zyh0r5e that Cr4zyh0r5e also won but nobody else from Team 1 showed up whereas rQ team actually had players that could play. So, we got walked over. 2-3.

Yeah as I said, I work saturdays, perhaps if the other team agrees to postpone one match I could get you guys a win but aside from that, I can only be a practice partner right now.

All the matches start at 11 am EST so I don't see the time being an issue there.
Both teams have to agree to allow to replay players. All the teams that have have had at least 3 players anyway.

Hey now that I have access to my internet all day I would love to coach! There's a lot of late comers to D league and perhaps I could form a team with them.

Maybe together we can figure out what are some of the major flaws in your play that are holding you back, and hopefully I can help you build a solid foundation on how to play each of the MU's in a way that makes a little more sense 8p.
I understand BW can be a tough game but don't give up! D+ is just around the corner 8D!

We had a strong lineup at the start and now we're just withering down. We wouldn't have went 5-0 without Conversion and Kona.

Im really embarassed but i tried to explain on skype that i have no chance on playing. I simply doesn´t have any working internet AND have been on a train for the past two weeks
I will try so hard to be there next week, but the internet problem is still a factor. Maybe ill go to a internet café just to get a working connection (do they even have BW installed on those computers any more? Probably not ). Cya in skype !

Sorry for the slow updates on last weeks results guys. I just started classes this week and the end of holiday break was hectic so I just haven't found time to sit down and format everything correctly. I'll update it tomorrow.
I can't do much about people being inactive this season. I took just about everyone who signed up and tried to overload the rosters compared to how many games needed to be played but many people are inactive anyway. Good news is that a number of the teams are really active and those are mostly doing well. I've definitely thought about merging teams but we're almost done with the normal league schedule.

That means I'm fine with puppykiller collecting together a couple of the teams that are struggling to make a roster like Freedom and Team 8 and coaching them.

We allowed one team to field players twice, and they won... Team 8 was gracious enough to do the same for us last week as well. Hopefully, other teams will understand that sometimes situations are inescapable, and the committed should not be faulted for the absence of those that are not... In the end, we all just wanna play, right?
BTW I want to use this opportunity to let my team and our future opponents know that I will not be able to play at the current set time starting next week, due to work. I will usually be available for the make-up matches at most other times over the weekend.

How about A and B teams, both of which compete in a match? B teams being everyone below C-, A team being everyone at and above.

This is true, somewhat. Even Flash doesn't win all of his games though. BW is a game where advantages can snowball by chance as well as by choice. Advantages can be created through chance as well, like BO choice or moments of absent-mindedness or a particularly lucky tactical choice (sometimes people move out randomly and it hits a perfect window, like in PvP when a player is going to harass with their reavers, and the enemy shows up at their doorstep blindly...). A D rank can beat a C rank can beat a B rank can beat an A rank, but that doesn't necessarily mean that lack of games is holding them back... Sometimes you just beat players who are much better than you overall. If a C rank player beat an A rank player, I would bet money against you stating that he can't ladder to get to A right off the bat.
Ranks are also very tricky in other ways. For example, I haven't been able to stay in C- for more than a few games all season, with a 35% winrate at D+ right now. However, I was a C high in the past. Should I be in a C rank league? Should I truly be allowed to be in this D league? ):
I do think that the idea of making trades or transfers between teams should be looked at, btw. Not that I dislike my team haha xD Some teams have problems with activity, some got a poor or strong hand in the sorting of players, etc. Just a suggestion ^^

Ladder games negate a lot of strategy and metagaming skill because you have no information on the other player and its always a Bo1.
In ladder you can just do the same build order every game and you will just use winrate to move up the ranks, but tournaments won't work like that because you have to use short-term goals not a long-term goals.
These skills are the ones that allow a lower rank player to beat a higher rank player, which is why ladder is much more consistent with "skill" than in tournaments.

Aye, because they emphasize different skills I don't think it's good to just say "Well, he's D on iccup, so we should keep him at the D level (or count him on the roster as a D-rank)" while he's completely tearing through the other D's in the league. If I may make a suggestion: using the relative stats of the two teams? For example, if Team A beat Team B during regular season play, and they are in a tie-breaker situation for the 4th slot, then Team A gets the position because of their previous win to Team B.

I think this is a cool idea. CSL/CBW used to do the same thing right before each new season to hype it up. I think this should be done the same way, if we do have another season ^^;

When/if I do another Season I will make a new topic for it.
I've gotten some PMs about a new season and how I would be handling it. I learned a lot from this season and I would probably go with a method where people could sign up with teams and then pick up those who don't have a team of their own. I found that the teams that acted like this in this season were the most successful both in terms of the quality of their players and in getting people to show up. I've also gotten a lot of input on how to combine C rank players into this league and that is something that I'm still trying to figure out. I would also probably change the time to something that is more available to players.
However, before I start making any moves on another season I want to make sure we successfully complete this one!

This has been great, the one flaw is attendence. I know that i´ve missed 3 that i just couldnt compete in. Stood over one (too many people that was in attendence), missed the time first round and havent gotten to my map in 3 since my team is too damn gosu. Im gonna think about if im gonna play next season, but at least i think ill be a back up player for my amazing team.

Interesting how the common theory is that PvT is hugely in favor of P at the low levels, yet we see almost exactly 50% in that matchup over 40 games in this league.
Edit: though it does seem to be true that protoss is by far the most played race at lower levels, among foreigners at least.

Team 3 did beat team 7 before. Team 3 has a small bit focused team and the skill of their players seems really high as they 3-0 ed team 2 in the semis while team 7 barely made it in. If anything I think team 7 are the underdogs

Huh... Honestly don't know who's going to win, team's are about even in terms of top tier players of this league, though team 7 has more depth, there's no arguing that... However, that only applies if we get into sets 4-5... Even then, not so much if it were Bo7, Team 7 would be a sure win, but as it is, slightly favored... but who knows.

Well personally I don't get that much nervous since Brood War is fun and having a great CW is all about fun imo... FUN FUN FUN
But yeah it's different for each individuals. But we must keep in mind that if this gets casted, it's still a D level competition so mistakes are more than likely to happen so no one should take it personally and start to shake whenever something like this happens.

A couple days ago L_Master said that he would definetely cast it. I think the series will be pretty close, I've been pretty happy with the team parity when everyone shows up.

I was casted by L_master like week 3, got raped out of my clothes. Doesnt make sense to be nervous but that is what happened. Anyways, been getting some quality coaching from a swedish b- dude so i hope ill do okay, or at least not as bad as i do against him (he rapes me in every match up)

Same for me, but mainly because I'm not nervous at all and the other guy is, giving me an advantage I think. Sometimes I say I'm nervous at live local tourneys (SC2) coz its fun to hype it up with friends, but its nothing like playing a musical instrument in front of a crowd or anything like that.
I think Jaedong said it best "what's the point?". There's no point being nervous, especially when there's no money on the line.
First and really only time I was ever really nervous, was playing a game against G5 on his stream. Mainly because I knew people would just see me get owned and somehow thought it would be a bad reflection on me if I didn't at least give him some competition (which I didn't) :D

I will say for me the key to nerves has always been focus on the task. Your nervous because your thinking about all the wrong things: "people watching", "making a fool of yourself", "letting your team down", etc. On that note there are really too kinds of nerves. Everyone is nervous before a big match, its the type and how it's channeled that matters. One type is just the intensity and expectation for a big match, your pumped up and want to do well, whereas the other variation is where instead of being excited in a positive way your scared shitless and worrying about "Oh god I'm gonna mess this up".
What then, does one do? In my opinion the key is your focus. You channel the nervousness to being solely focused on the game. Upon your execution. One thing to this end that I have found really helpful is a pre-shotgame routine. You approach each game the same way every time. Before you start maybe you have a way you adjust the monitor, or a way you get your mouse and keyboard comfortable how you want them. Same thing for the first few minutes, having established way in which you spam and click around. This consistency ends up creating a comfort level and puts you back in the zone. It reminds you I have done this thousands of times and allows you to just sink back into the comfort of playing rather than being focused on all the things that could go wrong.

I think you're quite wrong on your statement.
+ Show Spoiler +First three sets should have been 3-0, however, our PvP sniper broke down due to Cobalt/razryv basically forcing him to play in lag... I mean, Sabas should have probably just subbed himself out because it wasn't just the lag that killed him, but also the emotional toll of dealing with the situation... So I mean, really without all the issues we had, I had your lineup all planned out for a 4-1 (the 1 being game 5), had all my players on the proper sets.
Not to mention, 2 gate in lag is pretty gay regardless of how my player performed.

Yeah no, Drama was mostly because of that lag... My player just went off completely. Not a huge deal, was near the end anyways.

Haha yeah you gave me my first loss of the season with that doom drop in my main. It was a pretty good game. It's the probably the one I remember the most because of how I misanswered your drop by pushing while I had map control. I hate myself for that but props to you for being able to close the game. It was probably my favorite (fun-wise) game of the season along with that ace match vs sabas on match point.
On another topic, I hope we'll have more people showing up for the next season, active people that is. We, team 3, had a lot of fun because everyone had a reason to practice their map and almost everyone showed up each week at the matchs. And we could probably include C players so maybe we have more people depending on how many players sign up?
Anyway, it was pretty fun and I eagerly look forward to the next season.

haha yeah, I was in a pretty bad position, got contained at my own bridges on Circuit Breaker, but my successful doom drop on your undefended factories followed by you trying to brute force your way into my waiting tanks changed everything .
Funny thing is, I don't play much TvTs, but most of TvTs that I win, I win like that
Doom drop their main, make them panic, make them suicide their armies into my sieged tanks, move across the map and contain/starve them to death.
I didn't move out quick enough that game, and I actually thought I was going to lose when your battlecruisers really started doing damage, but I guess mass turrets do pretty well against BCs.
Also, pretty cool that you didn't lose after Week 1.

Yep, I'm more confident now in TvT because I always protect myself from doom drops. TvT really is my best matchup now. But yeah turrets + goliaths > BCs. I should just have kept my tanks in the map so they could defend my BCs from your gols. That was such a bad move haha. But yeah after my 2 losses in week 1 (I was pretty disappointed letting my team down like this lol), I've been on this huge winning streak. I think ReZuya on Aztec was the only match I really had no clear advantage through the whole game. It was pretty one sided for him.
