How in the hell is Zerg supposed to win against Terran here?
Slow tank push with mass turrets... and by slow I mean Terran is in Zerg's base in approximately 1 minute and 43 seconds.

Slow tank push with mass turrets... and by slow I mean Terran is in Zerg's base in approximately 1 minute and 43 seconds. Easy muta harass on main gas, terran may find tanks a difficult strat off one gas.
Not to mention lurk/ling flank.
|
Way too small I think. Post it on broodwarmaps.net to get reviews from the pros. Your map will be cut into pieces eaten and spit out but you'll learn about map making ^^

deal is like this: It's totally imba in many way. There are alot of stupid things one could do (burrow jump over eggs, any unit that kills the eggs quickly as dt/archon/siegetank/lurker, but even a goon, first goon to go through), but if you would go for a normal game it would be like this: - way too narrow, infront of the natural. that space? Tanks > everything there, after that, T can keep a tankline on the cliff in his main push around it to the opponent's base while being protected from the top (ofc terran would never take the long passage, as the short one takes him 5seconds to the opponents base, where it's WAY too narrow for a P to do anything at all, it's like being contained in your main and the T in your nat, imba) - the mineral layout in the mains is partly too far away asit seems, also only 8 mineral fields as an old school map and then follow up the mappool with only newschool maps (except taucross, which also has 9 mineral fields in its main, whatsoever) - the mains are WAY too small, how are you suppossed to fit all your supply depots and then 10factories in there? or 10gateways? - natural only has 5 mineral patches? 13 for 2bases, compared to usually 16 (9main+7nat) - i think terran can abuse the terrain together with supply depots too good in the middle area to be flanked too much, either the P comes from the left or the right, but that's about it, more of a carrier map in that case
|
I'm the wrong person to listen to when it comes to giving direct map balance criticism, but I still think the general map concept/layout could work if the map was a lot larger.
I can see the top being pushed out further with more high ground plateaus in order to create attack and defense lanes in space other than the already present tight choke points. Split the 12 oclock into two expos with good terrain to separate them from being secured too easily.
The bottom could use a lot of space in between the bases as long it remains cutoff by ground to the top. If the bottom attack path time can be long by ground and tough to move along then it will encourage more movement to the top of the map. A nice low ground path blocked by a ton of eggs or stacked temples would help slow stuff beyond the initial 3 eggs at the ramp. This also would open up movement for both players equally once destroyed.
With the constriction of movement between the bottom and the top it would be wise to consider altering the construction of the main base so that muta harass and carriers aren't pure ownage.
|
I am currently making some major mods, standby.

Didn't read all of this but the mains are small, the distance between the bases is too short (in most 2 player maps that are close spawns they are divided by air i.e paranoid android / korean air map) and the main raised terrain reaches around to the half point of the map (can siege from your main to set up a push from base to base even if the starting spawns were separated by air).

what the devil is this map??? zerg can fly an overlord from the beginning and be at enemy base in like 20 seconds. useless 4 minerals in middle. even more useless 2 geysers on cliffs with no ramps and no minerals???
narrow chokes to your nat guarded by cliffs from your main. narrow middle means pretty much no flanks... T could place like 4 tanks at those 3 hills in the middle and cover pretty much the whole middle. hell they could wall off parts of the map and make it even more claustrophobic.

I wouldn't use that map unless you want to have terrible games for the players and them really not at all have as much fun as they would with a decent map.

It would have to be altered quite a bit, i.e cross map spawns or corner map spawns with inverting the terrain

Oblivion maphack is undetectable on battle.net, it's a fact (as long as you don't blind 8 rax bunker ramp in anticipation of a 4 pool or something obvious along those lines lmao).
Example: PvT.
I have all other oblivion functions turned off, only maphack. I open standard 1 gate core, while my opponent 2 factories. I purposely scout the WRONG way, but put down my 2nd gate + robo anyway because I play "safe" or "suspect" cheese. Can you accuse me of hack? I think not.

It's not like I'm playing in this tourny, but fyi I've played in clan wars before where people maphacked and it was totally undetectable to bwhf, wdetector, minilauncher, etc etc. Bottom line, nothing worked as long as the hacking player didn't make it too obvious.
But hey you're the ultimate pro programmer that must have made your own ultimate anti-hack that somehow detects a hack which strictly only affects and interacts with the cheating player's client computer, without the need to require players to install the aforementioned anti-hack on their client side.
Good luck.
Edit:
None of the AH custom maps work either. So I eagerly await the end of the tournament when you're free to divulge your mad anti-hack skills.

You do realise, there are 1001 programs that allow you to overide the iccup anti-hack and run a map hack? I don't understand what the difference. AND I doubt any other foreigner wants to end up like Scan anyways. These are all respectable players and if they want to risk their rep, fine by me.
|
There are methods to hack on iCCup, not being detected, enough people do it.
Most obvious hack is this (and hell, it worked with the antihack and didn't drop the player): http://www.gosugamers.net/starcraft/thread/759910-new-hack
1500 drones get spawned from making an extractor, the antihack didn't disconnect him, the opponent only saw it in the replay, because he was curious how he lost, and had to report it manually. So, how good is this antihack system? It's basically only good for the 30 extra points on MotW games!
|
Its great that your helping to provide for the current scene but whats with this current phenomenon of using weird as shit maps?

I for one welcome crazy imbalanced maps. Better than using a forgettable cookie cutter macro map.
Even better would be a tournament played on brand new custom maps never revealed before the day of the tournament.

-dredredre why is this? Playing on regular maps means the players have more time to prepare, meaning better strategies. When u throw a weird map into the works, it'll probably just end up as a cheese fest.
for example, in ISL1 they played hitchhiker. Of the games i watched personally on that map, only one of the games got past the early/mid game.
|
I don't understand all the people complaining about the map balance. It's only a $50 tournament and is supposed to generate fun. If players think the balance lowers their odds too much then they don't have to play. I don't think it's a big deal really.

Hi, Is the tournament going on right now? I would really like to watch. I'm on Sayle's stream and he's playing some kind of weird game (lol). Any tips on how to watch would be much appreciated
Arg, Central European Time? Well any info on whether it's still happening and when I can watch is still appreciated
I guess it's probably over, oh well.

I played it vs OyA!
While playing I noticed that there is this easy trick for cheese: while being in your opponents mineral line, select a probe from your mineral line and send it to his minerals, it then will go through both egg walls and you can safely proxy in his main, or just scout again;P

Too much zvz

Don't want to hate. Just want to give my honest opinion. You should never end up playing unexpected maps on any given day of a tourney. In my experience, that puts terran players at a ridiculous disadvantage, while toss is a race where it's only going to benefit them. For zerg, I have no idea about that race, so I won't comment. I just think it becomes pointless to end up having games where the quality can't be good due to circumstances.

I really don't see how anyone could have had an issue with Destination being an unknown map..

Unless you're a pro gamer or join clans, because you think there's a point to it, there's really no good reason to play a lot of different maps. You're talking about a tourney involving a lot of players that haven't played in months to years, that just come back for the hell of it to play in tournaments. Destination is a popular map. I might have played it 7 times before, with the last time being 6 months ago, though. Korean pros practice 14 hours a day for a reason... Try playing terran some time on maps you're not very familiar with. Let's see how good your builds are and how well you utilize the terrain. It's a silly premise.
I don't mean to hate, I really don't. Having tournaments is always better than not having tournaments. I'm just offering my opinion that the importance of practice should not be forgotten. Some people like having a logical reason in order to play different maps.

Well, then don't accept an invitation, the maps were listed before. If you don't even know destination, how are you suppossed to know any of the newer maps?
Either practice on the maps, or accept that they are played, eventually you weren't forced to play in the tournament.

My bad. I was under the assumption that each round would be played on different days. I've never played in something like this or seen something like this format that wasn't played that way. Assumptions are bad. My fault. Please forgive me Great tournament and nice of you to host.

I've seen your match-list before, every game PvT or TvP on fighting spirit or python... No wonder you have trouble adapting to other maps, tbh I don't think this affects the majority of players it's not a terran imba problem.
