Banner by disciple, players list from flamewheel. December 9th 2010, 18:00 KST, on MBCGame
Here is what I know:
Someone gets a Galaxy Tab! Sea promised to do a special movie themed ceremony, Kal thinks Sea will cut his hair, Stork thinks he has no chance to compete.
The Group Selection or Steal Draft is a somewhat long and complicated process, not helped at all by the large number of players that now qualify for each MSL season. Here’s how it works:
The first eight seeds are placed into groups A through H, with the first seed in Group A and the eighth seed in Group H. The first sixteen seeds may never be moved by any player, they remain in the groups in which they are seeded. Seeds nine through sixteen are determined by previous MSL appearances and performance, with more obviously being better. Seeds nine through sixteen are placed into the other pair in groups A through H, but in reverse order. Seeds eight and nine would be in the same group, then seven and ten, six and eleven and so on up until the first and sixteenth.
Once players are placed into the groups, the remaining players are also ranked based upon previous MSL appearance and performances. Starting with the seventeenth, and ending with the thirty-second, each player takes his own name and places it in an open spot next to the player he wishes to play against.
After everyone has been placed upon the board, the stealing begins. It starts in ascending order at the sixteenth seed and moves all the way up to the first. Seed three through sixteen are allowed three options: (1) Exchange himself with another player, (2) Exchange his current opponent with another player, or (3) Pass the turn and exchange no one.
Seed 2 is able to pick two moves on the same turn from the following: (1) Exchange a player in their group with another player, (2) Exchange any two other players with each other, or (3) Pass the turn and exchange no one. Seed one earns an extra decision. He is able to switch any player with another player and may do so up to three times or until they wish to pass, but cannot use all 3 decisions in the same turn. At the latest, the #1player must choose after the #3player , if he wants to use all three turns. Source: MSL
Change 17! Flash switch 1! Flash switches s2 for Ssak
Change 18! Flash switch 2! Flash switches Classic with Ssak Change 19! Flash switch 3! Stork is switched with Really! That's all I've got. When I get better sources, I will update this. Sorry!
Final groupings/maps/playing order: Big thanks to Ryo! + Show Spoiler +
I'm hoping someone records the whole thing. Thanks to moktira, I could watch The OSL ceremony again, even though I couldn't understand a word. It was still awesome.
EDIT: apparently there is a SC2 Zerg named MisO. The replacements in the TLPD-izer might never end.
Update according to DES: Backstage at the MBC studio it's very busy, several players fiddling with their hairstyles. It seems a number of players will be going all out to get the prizes.
The lion suit that Wemade players are going to wear:
He asked leta to put down the zipper. Commentators are like "If you want the prize you better keep it on" and he immediately stands upa nd puts it back on LOL
s2 kinda started justifying why he picked jaedong later but the stream died before but he said it wasn't because it was easy but he liked zvz and then the stream died

You can't blame Shine for picking Bisu. If I was Shine I'd do the same thing. It's now up to Bisu to actually show some common-sense and prepare as if he's playing Shine (and not your usual Zerg).
Wonder if Shine vs Bisu stays after all the moving around.

You'll need to explain what you're trying in a bit more detail. Have you tried clicking on the relevant link along the bottom of the screen? The stream takes a little while to buffer before it starts.

Zergs wanting to avenge their brothers is not that surprising. Unless you're Shine or JD I think it's pretty brave though given his current PvZ ELO.
Stop getting in KTY's head damn you! No matter how confident you are, if every scrub says he wants a piece of you it's gotta make you start thinking...
Ofc if you're JD or Flash you either take it as flattery, or you rage up and go back to the practice house and practice even harder than before so you can have the last laugh.
Well you've got no chance. Pick the least disappointing route I guess, if you're going to get fucked over it may as well be by the best terran and zerg in the world.

I GOT A LIVESTREAM GOING (maybe. let's hope it works!) It's unverified so I hope there aren't too many people >< Sorry if there are! http://www.livestream.com/selth?t=588698
Edit: Can't do sound though. Roommate is trying to sleep. lol Apparently I was wrong.
looks like bisu ISN"T MOVING. he had a chance to get away from shine and abstained. holy shit :O Bisu throws down the gauntlet if thats what happened, i could've misinterpreted as i dont speak any korean

I think Shine isn't overhyped. He may play weird strats, but the fact that he does anything to win means he has winning psychology.
How many players we've seen that could play brilliantly but failed at important moments If Shine trains a little better, he could become a firstclass player :D
Changes Stork ... Stork asks to be changed with HoGiL but Light refuses, s2 asks to change his group to avoid team kill, and asks Light to change him with Stork, Roro is changed with Stork.

JD refuses Stork moves Jaehoon and changes him with s2 breaks the all zerg group says he wants to see how Jaehoon turns out, that he needs to start out in a strong group to get better
Jaehoon says he doesn't mind as long as it's not JD or Flash it's also easier since he just has to practice vZ in his group

It's because he parodied scenes from a movie. It's like... the most popular movie this year.
Must be a culture thing then. I haven't seen that movie but I'm pretty sure Leta would've won everything outside of Korea for his antics but no matter.
Anybody got final groups? I'm assuming they're very cosy for JD and Flash?

Promotional models or something to that effect, I imagine. They most likely don't know anything about Starcraft and they don't know the players very well, if at all. The OSL girls are a lot more used to the players and one of them, iirc, even plays the game at a decent level.

Was only able to write down groups A and B.
I don't get how the adorableness of Leta baby didn't work with the judges, but crossdressing humor is reaaaaaaaaally common. Oh, I missed part of the ceremony when I fell asleep rather than work on a final essay so I got the prizes confused.

Yeah, the answers he gave when the hosts asked him questions when they were all sitting down were the most entertaining. Talk-king is separate from the ceremony.
Anyway, full list of winners:
1st place ceremony: Leta (Del notebook) 2nd place ceremony: Midas (mini PMP) 3rd place ceremony: Sea (ipod shuffle)
I got a screen of the groups. I'm going to work on it since I can't read Korean and I'm just going to try to match names. lol.... Should be done in like 30 minutes if I get lucky.
I need help fleshing out the OP. Could anyone detail the changes? I've written a few things down already from the LR, but it's rather complicated and sometimes incomplete as well.

I think Selth is going to translate the final groups. I've got the map info and play order with me. Once I'm done I'll post it in the thread.
Jaedong has much better players in his group but they're all toss (JvP and he only has to practice vP) so I don't think he has too much to worry about.
wow lol, flash has a piss poor group while jd, bisu and fantasy all got relatively hard groups. oh, and yeah for another chance for bisu to get revenge on shine.
groups b, c and h are really groups of death imho. but group g is also quite stacked.

Well Jaedong chose the group himself. Fantasy was put in a tough spot because he had to use his one switch on moving s2 (to avoid teamkill). Bisu could have moved Shine but chose not to.
I think group C is the toughest to call. No guarantees either Fantasy or Leta will make it out of that group.
Damn. Kal and Shine in Bisu's group. Those two always stop him on his tracks. The positive thing is that if he gets out of that group his confidence will skyrocket!
For some reason I predict Stats will lose in a very stupid way, e.g. to speedling runby.)))) And Free and Snow are going to show much more resistance to JD.
I had a great theory of why stats placed himself with jaedong but then i remembered this isnt the OSL and that the MSL format is funny. Now i have no idea what went through the head of this kid.

kal beats really, bisu beats shine. in the winners match, kal beats bisu. then, in the losers match shine beats really and in the final match shine beats bisu. T.T

actually, by the names alone, jds group isnt easy at all. its just that he only has to prepare for one matchup and that its jvp which makes it seemingly easy.
Jaedong should top his group unless he makes some silly mistakes. Snow's PvZ is not good and Free/Stats have been very inconsistent this season.
Edit: JD wanted all protoss opponents. Kal and Bisu can't be moved (anyway why would he want to play Bisu or Stork for that matter), Perfectman and Shy are his teammates and he's buddies with Jaehoon so Jaedong was left with those 3.

Maybe he has balls.
seems more like a dead wish
Bisu has the best PvZ in the world. And now he has a target to unleash his power on. I'm sure Shine is taking this very seriously and practicing diligently for what might be his undoing. In any case, we get a great show of Starcraft.
As for Kal - Bisu's PvP is S-class, no doubt. No reason to worry about it and once again, a great thing for the fans because we get to see an awesome PvP. If Bisu comes out on top both games it will be hard to deny his skill.
These groups looks awesome. Bisu vs Shine again! Well, group one is a laugher, and group two is cake for Jaedong, because I think free is too shaky right now. Ah, the benefits of being the top seeds...
its not so stupid for players to place themselves with Flash and JD. If it was a Ro16 and a single Bo3, yes, its stupid, but you just have to beat 2 other people, and good players will tend to avoid Flash and JD so early on

Flash got exactly the group he wanted: Classic (who's pretty good, but not really a challenge) and two scrubs. Basically, the question is going to be "who will advance besides Flash", and Classic is easily the second best in this group, so I'm saying Flash and Classic to advance.
Group B
If Flash got the group he wanted, Jaedong got the group of his wildest dreams. He only has to practice one matchup, and Bisu isn't in it. So again, it's going to be the which-progamer-not-named-Jaedong-is-going-to-advance question. Snow is out, sadly, his PvP is extremely suspect (although improving, he's not at free/Stats level yet), so it will really boil down to which of free and Stats can take the final match. Right now, I favor free, Stats has been slumping pretty hard, so Jaedong and free advance.
Group C
Group of deeeeatthhhh! Marquee matchup is going to be a really hot Fantasy vs. a really hot Soulkey. Whichever one of these guys wins is a good candidate to take it 2-0, the other can definitely be upset by either great or Leta in the Losers/final match. Still, I think both Fantasy and Neo.G_Soulkey will advance.
Group D
Normally, Light and Stork would take this easy. However, we all know how terrible Light is in individual leagues, so he's probably going to fail hard, as usual (even though he just stomped Flash in proleague, he has no individual-league confidence). RorO will stomp sHy, so it will be Stork v RorO in the winner's game, and I actually favor RorO here (he's been playing really well recently, plus ZvP imba). Stork will then tear his way through sHy or Light (again) and advance anyway. Stork and RorO.
Group E
Poor, poor Jaehoon. He's in a group with 3 zergs, all of whom are playing really well, he's pretty boned. I'm going to say Calm and Hydra to advance (Killer sucks), but it is ZvZ, so you never really know what might happen.
Group F
The Anti-Group of Death? I honestly have no clue what Perfectman and Hogil are doing in starleagues. fOrGG 2-0 easy, and probably Midas 2-1.
Group G
Sea's going to romp through Action, and provided Zero doesn't ZvZfail, we get a really awesome matchup in the winner's match (Zero vs Sea). If Zero takes it, Sea will probably still advance, but if Sea wins, Zero has to go through ANOTHER ZvZ (probably s2 again, Action's ZvZ is reeeallly suspect)... meh, still giving it to Sea and ZerO
Group H
Bisu fanbois rejoice, he gets another crack at Shine... and he's probably going to lose again, hilariously (and oh how hilarious it will be). Kal-Really is a great matchup between two excellent players, and whoever wins will beat Shine in the winner's match. Ideally, Bisu will win the losers match, and it will be Bisu-Shine in the final match, in an epic showdown to settle once and for all, whether Shine is actually the anti-Bisu. Bisu will get Hydrabusted again, Shine will advance, and TL will explode with ignorant SKT/Bisu fanboys calling Shine a noob and making Shine fans feel extremely uncomfortable (hey, it happened to me last time, I call it like I see it). Shine and whoever wins the Kal/Really game.
Normally, Light and Stork would take this easy. Light made the Ro4 in the last MSL, beating Kal and Effort along the way, almost beating JD in the semis. If he doesn't make it out of the group in second place, it will probably be because Roro and Shy cheese.
Interesting groups. A is lucky for Flash. B will see some crazy action in every match. C will be no prob for Fantasy and... H will be full of Kal-Bisu and Bisu-Shine revenges.
And damn, what's so cool about this homofaggotry every time? Crazy-Hydra probably needed that to promote himself, but Leta... I just don't get it.

in japan. there would be upskirt cameras on the far right picture
i guess Group H is bisu's redemption group. the only 2 players that have beaten him over the past 4 months. wow. bisu/kal is 1-5 recently. cmon bisu ><

T_T
for the record, it was 2-1.
but yeah, Light is capable of both good and shitty TvP. A lot of people just consider him "bad" at TvP, but I would probably characterize him more as streaky. Definitely more on the bad side than good, though.
Really, though, I'm less concerned about his play against Shy than his play against Roro. Light's TvZ hasn't been looking as unbeatable as it did last season, and Roro did take a game from Light in their Bo3 last season. But it's not totally implausible that Light could beat Stork, though he will probably have to do something cute if he wants to do that.
On December 10 2010 08:19 Kyuukyuu wrote: How does frogg keep making it into starleagues

Probably a combination of luck and Flash helping him a little at the MSL group selections. He got the easiest group yesterday and Flash/Jaedong didn't want to move anyone to and from his group so Forgg now has a high chance of making it into Ro16 and beyond.
I think Kal will definitely emerge from group H. It's a toss-up between Bisu or Shine for the other spot. But either 3 could top the group if they're having a good day.
I wouldn't totally rule out Really though. Dante's Peak is a new map so anything can happen.
Bisu wont make it out of his group for sure. Stork also might be in trouble since pvp and pvz is not really that strong for him. He should make it but he can lose to anyone in pvp and pvz if he is not on top.
