On another note --- did Nony really concede a disconnected game? What a gentleman.

Why am I funny? Idra has been in korea for 2years. Compare his training to other sc players and its pretty sad that he cant do shit in either WCG nor TSL. And not that he is close to ever playing a PL game in korea.

But ohh I forgot, Idra did not lose, he only sufferd to the fact that protoss is imb and can chees....or something like that.

Idra should go home, pick up school and do something better with his time.

To talk that much shit and then not being able to deliver....yea case closed.

Wow Idra had such a great build prepared for that second game, which basically forced Nony to go all in...but wowowowow

Nony is such a hero

I just watched the VODs and was pretty disappointed. Nony winning is sweet because I reaaaaaaaaaaally want to see Sen v Nony (more than I wanted to see Sen v Idra) but the games were pretty poor quality and not really rewatchable in my opinion. Not what I expected at all

Point is, if Idra quits, this community would be poorer for it. In fact I'd even say that this entire year has been building up to this. After all the tournaments, all the recent Idra dominance, all his boasting and bm and Artosis's hyping, for him to lose this tournament 2-3 to Nony is what made it so special. It's what made so many people tune in and to bet so much money. They wouldn't have done it for Sen. They wouldn't have done it for Nony (alone). They probably wouldn't even have done it for Mondragon or JF or White-Ra. But they did it for Idra because he had so much on the line and that's what made it so dramatic.

I don't know if Idra can recover from this on the foreigner scene. There's not going to be another tournament of this magnitude before SC 2 and Idra probably won't be playing SC 2 due to his contract in Korea. So in all likelihood this was the last time he had to really obtain GLORY, as once SC 2 hits many people are going to make the switch and the SC community will probably collapse or at least diminish greatly. And really, he was in the spotlight. Everyone was talking about him. He was the favorite. You don't even seem to recognize how much the buzz around this tournament was about him, and especially his rivalry with Nony, who also, like JWD said, had his balls on the line for predicting victory over Idra. But really, it was about Idra, as Nony can always go back to retirement. Idra is a pro-gamer, an (in)famous one, and for him the stakes were so much higher and that's what made this the most anticipated non-final match of TSL, overall.

Bagging on Idra's play is fine - though in reality he is a very good player if not quite at the level he wants to be - but you have to recognize the fact that he is a major driving force for the foreign scene, even if not an always positive one. IMO, his role is not so much to win everything but to be there, in Korea, talking smack about foreigners and demonstrating - from time to time - that he has the skills to back it up. In other words, to be a "villain," as some have called him. But villains have to fall sometimes, or else heroes would never get to shine. This was one of those times. It's unfortunate that it had to end this way - with Idra canceling his command center - but you know what, this match is probably going to go down in history. It's going to be one of those matches that people remember for a long time. And that is Idra's value, ultimately.

What an epic fail for Idra. Terran lovers and idra fanboys can whine all the want but the fact is this. Idra lives in korea for 2years now, he does nothing els then play starcraft all day in and outwith great people and coaches to make him better.

He is cocky as a little shit, predicts 3-0, talk about cheeses etc etc. And then he get beaten....again. WCG 2-0 to koll, TSL 3-2 to Nony, a player who have been very inactive for a while and just recently started to pick up his game. A bo5 serie Idra should not lose, sure 1 game but not a best of 5.

Maybe time for him to leave korea and focus on something els, SC clearly is not his thing.

On a side note. Here we have the biggest tourney in foreign SC. All the best is here and what happend. The top guys, the korean guys get beaten by some old school inactive players. Nony, JF and Mondi just decided to pick up the game, practice some more and then rape all.

Epic fail to Idra, Ret, White-Ra and all the other top guys.

I hope Nony or Mondi takes this, but what if JF just walks in from being inactive and just wins his second TSL in a row. That would be impressive.

Absolutely shocking results. Had to leave after White-Ra vs JF Game 2 and didn't see that turnaround coming at all. Game 2 of IdrA vs NonY I just about choked on some popcorn I couldn't believe that happened. Scrappy games all around, not what everyone may have expected, but it made for some interesting series.

Idra vs Nony was such a terrible series. I typed a big long read on why I thought it was so bad, but then TL went down for 15 minutes and I don't have it copied anymore.

It was a cheesefest full of lame mistakes and build order counters. The commentary was actually poor. I know everyone's going to shit on me for this, but Tasteless really wasn't into it. I guess he was tired as hell or something, but he kept saying redundant things. Artosis did okay. But they both missed some important things entirely (when Idra did the vulture run by into Nony's main) or pointed them out really late (the proxy robo bay on Outsider).

You can't really blame Nony for playing to win. He intended some late macro games but Idra out-BO'd him on the first, canceled his command center on the second, and went with a strategy Nony had a perfect counter for on the fifth. I'm sure both players were expecting macro games but when you're playing to win it just doesn't always end up that way.

Yes, please go back to watching mindless 1h-long macro-fest TvT where nothing happens 75% of the time, because that's what real starcraft is all about.

Cheese is fun. Mistakes are fun to come back from. Build order counters is WHAT REALLY MATTERS in starcraft. This series was all about thinking fast and reacting fast on both parts. Yes, Idra stretched too far but in the fourth and fifth game you can really see that he does everything very close to perfect in order to stay alive. If you ask me, game five was actually quite close. 5 seconds later for Nony and it might have ended up ugly.

In my opinion, everyone who didn't appreciate this series because of cheesing and 'build order counters' has no idea what starcraft is all about. It may sound insulting, but it shouldn't. This new age shit where it's 90% about macroing is BORING. Quick play is way more fun to watch.

JF coming back from a 2-0 defecit in a PvP again was absolutely incredible. Props to him. I sincerely believe he'll make it past Nony. JF's a fucking genius.

As for the IdrA/Nony series.. A bit of a disappointment obviously with IdrA's cc fuck up (and him not even trying to continue the game) but more importantly the fact that he let Nony walk over him like that. Every foreigner and their mother knows letting IdrA get to the midgame on even ground is a mistake. I don't know why he didn't expect Nony to pull what he did; this type of situation seems to be IdrA's achilles heel. Grats to Nony for doing what he needed to do. That's all that matters in the end.

Tough to call Sen vs. Mondragon. Could really see it going either way as most ZvZ's. Neither player is a pushover. Excited to see a PvZ final most of all though.

Watched the VOD Nony vs Idra was a bit anti climatic like Flash vs Jaedong.....
The PvP matches were more entertaining.

Game 1 was pretty much a BO win. Nony didn't expect it. Idra pulled it off perfectly. He won.

Game 5 was pretty much a BO win. Idra didn't expect it. Nony pulled it off perfectly. He won.

Game 3 was a micro and semi-BO win by Nony.

Game 4 was a micro and semi-BO win by Idra.

Game 2 was Idra canceling his commander center.

It's clear that Game 2 is the only game that really shouldn't have happened, but you know what, shit happens in tournaments.

Cheese is fun but saying nothing is happening in TvT is just untrue ((

it's not mindless

there is a lot of strategy!

Yes, it didn't feature any huge macro battles or any strategical brilliance but the series was very intense and tbh, I'm delighted the ro8 featured so many upsets. The TSL just got much more interesting, I have virtually no idea who could take it.
SonuvBob: Yes, the majority of TL is college-aged, and thus clearly stupid.
