Complain all you want about ZvP, Effort didn't even make a Muta this game (thanks to Sangho's strat).
The difference in refinement between the two players' play was palpable.

I don't think sAviOr's losses would feel half as bad if he'd GG at the appropriate time. Losing is nothing to be ashamed of imho, but not GGing when you've clearly lost kind of is.

Why is game 2 recommended and not game 3?
+ Show Spoiler +Game 3 featured a great BO from Sangho and incredible defense and army control from Effort.
Game 2 basically featured Iris' SCV wandering in Upmagic's base for eternity and not scouting the airport upgrading cloak. And lost because of that.

SKT sending BeSt is still not a bad choice, not the optimum choice, but still a reasonable one.
However KT sending FailGG is really inexplicable. By the time he transfered to the team he had already started slumping, and he has continued to suck since.
CJ sending Savior was a horrible move. You send him when he is still trying to get back his confidence, when eSTRO has momentum after winning the last game, and you get him to play ZvZ(although they could have thought they were sending another race).

Savior did win his last ZvZ so against a presumably weaker team like eSTRO, it would have a been a great time for him to win an Ace match and hopefully restore his shaken confidence.
Too bad that it's not the confidence that's the problem.

I don't see why all the hate for sending Savior for Ace. When you have as much depth as CJ, it's not a bad idea to have a player prepare just for the ace map. After all, it gives you an edge in terms of preparation.
I think it just happens to be a plan that backfired. CJ probably expected Really and had Savior prepared for ZvT. Because I can't imagine they think Savior's ZvZ is up to snuff.

Estro with big upsets over 2 of the top teams last season. IF they keep this up they are on course to be a shoe in for top 6. Losing to KT is by no means an embarrassing loss, and taking down both CJ and SKT is an incredibly good start.
I'm just waiting for the Liquibets to get updated to see how many people called the upset.

Even running Sangho, that's a record that any team in the league wouldn't be ashamed of. If they beat STX and go 3-1, look out for Estro to pull an STX this season.

TwoTone I usually agree with you but Estro has been lucky as hell to be 2-1 so far. They needed a baller build (against Best) that another team would have saved for a Starleague and TheZerg fail, followed by CJ sending Savior in ace when virtually any CJ player would have beat Hyvaa (hell Hydra just did).
Upmagic has looked good and Really has looked decent but overall the Up/Really/Hyvaa/Sangho combo doesn't compare at all to virtually any other team. First three matches of the season a lot of things can happen, especially when teams are more focused on building confidence and getting people playing time than anything else.
Estro is improved and I generally root for them, but they're still a weak team. I'd put down $100 that they don't make top 6 in the 09-10 season in a heartbeat, any takers?

I think you should probably reread what he said then. Basically the premise of his post is that estro winning 2 of it's first 3 games is a fluke, pure luck and that their line-up is the worst in the league and they profitted from a poor decision on the part of the coaches.
Then you swoop in and make an ironic post which does not in any way address what I posted.
I'm not saying at all that we control the team and the coach, but we control which team we ROOT for. He roots for CJ and says they are a better team than estro, and says that the "excuse" for CJs loss was a coach decision. My point? You take the good with the bad. The CJ team is NOT just the players thrown together. It is the players in conjunction with the coaches, who determine practice schedules, line-ups and the all important Ace. If you think that a coach making a bad ace decision is just a fluke, then you need to reevaluate what makes up a team and realize that it is a knock on your team, and doesn't change the fact that when you take the WHOLE of CJ, it was defeated by the WHOLE of Estro.

I think, whatever luck may or may not be involved, eSTRO looks quite solid so far this season. I'd say they're looking at least like a #8 team, and could conceivably make a late run if they can develop an ACE over the course of the season. All of their players are much improved, and you can see them playing with more confidence and determination. They're better than Stars by now in my book. Even looking at any of their wins, I thought their loss to KT was most instructive. Every game they played was hard fought and well executed. KT is opening the season very strong, and eSTRO has pushed them the hardest of anyone so far.
But it's still early in the season. I'm not at all worried about CJ- EffOrt looks dominant. sKyHigh looks dominant. Iris and sAviOr are of concern, but goodness knows CJ has other players to turn too. Movie lost here, but also played an excellent game against an A class player in Calm. He's on his way, I'm not at all worried about him.
I think Khan and Hite will be the teams battling it out for a playoff spot- but that's a long ways away, everything will even out in the end.

Their next game is versus STX. While KT technically wasn't a top 7 team their in form selves are tearing up like mad and are probably a tougher match than Hite/Khan/Oz right now. I think Estro got pitted with the toughest starting four weeks imaginable, and at the very least have gone 2-2 (assuming they lose to STX). Even running Sangho, that's a record that any team in the league wouldn't be ashamed of. If they beat STX and go 3-1, look out for Estro to pull an STX this season. TwoTone I usually agree with you but Estro has been lucky as hell to be 2-1 so far. They needed a baller build (against Best) that another team would have saved for a Starleague and TheZerg fail, followed by CJ sending Savior in ace when virtually any CJ player would have beat Hyvaa (hell Hydra just did). Upmagic has looked good and Really has looked decent but overall the Up/Really/Hyvaa/Sangho combo doesn't compare at all to virtually any other team. First three matches of the season a lot of things can happen, especially when teams are more focused on building confidence and getting people playing time than anything else. Estro is improved and I generally root for them, but they're still a weak team. I'd put down $100 that they don't make top 6 in the 09-10 season in a heartbeat, any takers? You sound butt-hurt. I don't think that any estro fans expect greatness from this team. The fact is we root for this team because we like all/some of the players and enjoy seeing them win. Let us enjoy what we have while we have it. If you want to avoid stuff like this have your team win before ace, or have ur coach send out a real ace player (btw coach decisions are just as important as players, so if your coach makes bad decisions its a knock on the team, not just the coach). Basically the premise of his post is that estro winning 2 of it's first 3 games is a fluke, pure luck and that their line-up is the worst in the league and they profitted from a poor decision on the part of the coaches. Then you swoop in and make an ironic post which does not in any way address what I posted. I'm not saying at all that we control the team and the coach, but we control which team we ROOT for. He roots for CJ and says they are a better team than estro, and says that the "excuse" for CJs loss was a coach decision. My point? You take the good with the bad. The CJ team is NOT just the players thrown together. It is the players in conjunction with the coaches, who determine practice schedules, line-ups and the all important Ace. I think, whatever luck may or may not be involved, eSTRO looks quite solid so far this season. I'd say they're looking at least like a #8 team, and could conceivably make a late run if they can develop an ACE over the course of the season. All of their players are much improved, and you can see them playing with more confidence and determination. They're better than Stars by now in my book. Even looking at any of their wins, I thought their loss to KT was most instructive. Every game they played was hard fought and well executed. KT is opening the season very strong, and eSTRO has pushed them the hardest of anyone so far. But it's still early in the season. I'm not at all worried about CJ- EffOrt looks dominant. sKyHigh looks dominant. Iris and sAviOr are of concern, but goodness knows CJ has other players to turn too. Movie lost here, but also played an excellent game against an A class player in Calm. He's on his way, I'm not at all worried about him. Yea, its beginning of season. You don't know. Khan and oz did well in r1 and r2 last season but died out from winner's league onwards. I believe that Khan is having a slow start while estro and wemade will burn out real quickly.

Game 5 was one of the saddest/most pathetic piece of pro-gaming I've seen. There's nothing wrong with losing, but honestly. Dragging it out that long? Building two evo chambers? Looking like the verge of tears upon GG? Where's the dignity!!!

I wouldn't care about saviors loss, even if it was an ace match, it was zvz, i expected him to lose... i knew he would 12 pool too.. but dragging it out that long when he knew from the spore colony snipe he'd lose, along with 2 evo's and pointless ling sneaks, it LOOKED sad..
however, savior being sent out in every matchup so far shows he is doing much better in practice, so that's a good sign.
If any other player played the same game as savior, they wouldn't get as much shit as he does. I still hate spore turtling, especially at pro level, where it only works vs real low eco builds, not overgas.

Estro, while lacking a solid ace of course, has a stronger four man line up than any team not named KT/SKT/CJ/STX at this point. Hite and Khan should, but both have atleast 2 star players slumping (Arnc-Leta and Jangbi-FBH, maybe Stork). Woongjin's Kwanro/Zero/Free/Shitty Terran lien up seems alright but they're getting stomped by weaker line ups, as well.
It doesn't really matter that Estro's winning with crazy builds, or that Estro is getting lucky with easier ace match picks -- builds and luck are all important in proleague, and apparently Estro has them in spades. Regardless of any excuse, they're 2-1 in round 1 vs the arguably 3 best teams, with STX coming up. That deserves praise.
