I converted the build times of all build and research times into fastest seconds. This should prove useful when planning BOs, finding timing windows and for other stuff too.
I took the times from the campaign editor and divided them by 1,6. I do not know if 1,6 is the exact correct number, but it is very close to it at least. It isn't 1,5 and 1,7 is also way out.
Please correct me if you find anything wrong.
Edit: ok, fixed the larva speed and added nuke. Thanks to lololol for the info.
Another thing he mentioned is that the ratio I should have been using was 23,8 / 15 which is 1,586666... and not exactly 1,6. This means that the 3rd level upgrades, for example, are two seconds too early. I will fix this soon.

Yeah, Arbiter is the longest build time unit/building in the game.

how long does a nuke take to build?
|
The number BWChart uses is 23.8 frames per second for fastest(as opposed to 15 for normal), so the ratio is fine. If you build a drone from the last larva from a hatch, the new larva will spawn right as the drone finishes, so larvae spawn at the rate drones build -> 12.5 seconds. Some of your values are off by less than 0.625 seconds(yes, it's no big deal), since StarEdit shows the values rounded down to a whole number. For example all your 103.75 are actually 104.1(6) or 105, if you use the ratio BWChart uses. If you want to see the exact values from the data files, you could dl DatEdit and extract them.

Also added the nuke info in the Terran Upgrades section.

i always thought overlords need the same amount of time to build like pylons do. nice to see that they need more (considering that they can drop, move and detect).

upgrades are longer as they go higher? never knew that!

oh wow i asked about this stuff a long time ago but nobody answered i was going to take build orders and make mp3s of them so you can practice by hearing sounds every time you need to do something (ex. make an SCV)

bumped due to renewed interest in such matters thanks to day[9]'s latest podcast. this ought to be in liquipedia.
prelim analyisis: -you can build a tank and one vulture in the time it takes to build a factory. -in the time it takes to upgrade +1 vehicle attack you can produce 5.33 tanks or 8.33 vults from each factory. -use this to figure out the relation between how workers spamming depot/pylons are needed for consta-pumping [x unit] from [y production buildings]
this is a really great wealth of data. if the numbers seem confusing just try to understand them in relation to each other.

ultralisks build in 35 seconds? feels like 10 minutes in-game

The OP calculated the buildtimes with the wrong ratio and never updated them sadly, I calculated the (rounded down)build times with the correct ratio some time ago and posted them before but not in this thread. I calculated the numbers and rounded them down, there might still be errors in it somewhere.
I have everything with the same buildtime grouped for easy memorisation, or at least that was the idea at the time. + Show Spoiler +buildtimes are in seconds(=SCtime/(23.8/15)) units are in normal font buildings are in bold Protoss: + Show Spoiler +Units and buildings: + Show Spoiler +4,4 scarab 12,6 probe/archon/darchon/interceptor 18,9 Pylon/Observatory/Robotics Support Bay/Shield Battery 25,2 Zealot/Corsair/Observer/Forge/Assimilator 31,5 Dragoon/High Templar/Dark Templar/Photon Cannon/ 37,8 Shuttle/Gateway/Cybernetics Core/Citadel of Adun/Templar Archives/Fleet Beacon/Arbiter Tribunal 44,1 Reaver/Stargate 50,4 Scout/Robotics Facility 75,6 Nexus 88,2 Carrier 63,0,8 Arbiter Upgrades + Show Spoiler +63,0 Carrier Capacity 83,8 Leg Enhancements 83,8 Sensor Array 83,8 Gravitic Boosters 83,8 Sensor Array 83,8 Gravitic Boosters 104,6 Singularity Charge 104,6 Scarab Damage 104,6 Reaver Capacity 104,6 Gravitic Drive 104,6 Khaydarin Amulet 104,6 Apial Sensors 104,6 Gravitic Thrusters 104,6 Khaydarin Core 104,6 Argus Jewel 104,6 Argus Talisman 167,65 187,82 207,98 Protoss Armor Protoss Ground Weapons Protoss Plating Protoss Air Weapons Protoss Plasma Shields Abilities: + Show Spoiler +50,4 Hallucination 50,4 Disruption Web 63,0 Stasis Field 63,0 Maelstrom 75,6 Mind Control 75,6 Psionic Storm 75,6 Recall Zerg: + Show Spoiler +Units and buildings + Show Spoiler +12,6 Drones/Larva/Creep colony/Sunken colony/Spore Colony 17,6 Zergling/Hydralisk 18,9 Scourge 25,2 Overlord/Lurker/Mutalisk/Guardian/Devourer/Infested Terran/Hydralisk Den/Evolution Chamber/Extractor/Nydus Canal 31,5 Defiler/Queen 37,8 Ultralisk/Queen's Nest/Defiler Mound 50,4 Spawning PoolUltralisk Cavern 63,0 Lair 75,6 HatcheryHiveSpire/Greater Spire/Infested Command Center Upgrades + Show Spoiler +63,0 Metabolic Boost 63,0 Adrenal Glands 63,0 Muscular Augments 63,0 Grooved Spines 83,8 Antennae 83,8 Pneumatized Carapace 83,8 Chitinous Plating 83,8 Anabolic Synthesis 100,84 Ventral Sacs 104,6 Gamete Meiosis 104,6 Metasynaptic Node 167,65 187,82 207,98 Zerg Carapace Zerg Flyer Carapace Zerg Melee Attacks Zerg Missile Attacks Zerg Flyer Attacks Abilities + Show Spoiler +50,4 Burrowing 50,4 Spawn Broodling 50,4 Ensnare 63,0 Plague 63,0 Consume 75,6 Lurker Aspect Terran + Show Spoiler +Units and buildings + Show Spoiler +12,6 SCV 15,1 Marine/Firebat 18,9 Medic/Vulture/Missile Turret/Bunker 25,2 Goliath/Supply depot/Refinery/Machine Shop/Control Tower/Physics Lab/Covert Ops 31,5 Siege Tank/Dropship/Valkyrie/Ghost 37,8 Wraith/Engineering bay/Science Facility 44,1 Starport 50,4 Science Vessel/Barracks/Academy/Armory/Nuclear Silo 75,6 Command Center 83,8 Battlecruiser Upgrades + Show Spoiler +63,0 U-238 Shells 63,0 Ion Thrusters 63,0 Nuclear Missile 83,8 Charon Booster 104,6 Titan Reactor 104,6 Ocular Implants 104,6 Moebius Reactor 104,6 Apollo Reactor 104,6 Colossus Reactor 104,6 Caduceus Reactor 167,65 187,82 207,98 Infantry Armor Vehicle Plating Ship Plating Infantry weapons Vehicle Weapons Ship Weapons Abilities + Show Spoiler +50,4 Stimpacks 50,4 Spider Mines 50,4 Tank Siege Mode 50,4 Irradiate 50,4 Personnel Cloaking 50,4 Restoration 63,0 Lockdown 63,0 Cloaking Field 75,6 Optical Flare 75,6 EMP Shockwave 75,6 Yamato Gun

I actually did the exact same thing except only with protoss, and my times were similar, except the fact that for protoss buildings there's about a one second delay in when the building finishes and when it can be used (the time when full form is "warping in")
Also, I got about 7 seconds for a worker to mine a mineral and return it, and 13 seconds for larva/probe/scv/drone.

Awesome, should this be in liquipedia?

When planning build outlines (not considering any adjustments) I usually do my planning in cycles (not seconds) and then when I go to think about how to adjust the build according to opponent's build then I use minutes/seconds. The reason is that cycles are exact, and usually I can measure in terms of 20 cycles or 10 cycles at a time (time it takes to make a probe, or 1/2 that time).
Interesting to know the times in seconds, though - I think it may be more useful for some people when they're working with their cycle and gameplay speed and APM and everything.

Great thread. I was theorycrafting a kinda wierd valkyrie build that I wanted to try out against zerg on heartbreak ridge Gonna try to use these timings to find out if I have enough defenses out for the 1 hatch lair into 2 hatch muta build that's been popular lately.

whoa hydralisk and zergling is the same, I always made zerglings in desperate defenses because I thought they build faster

Correct me if I'm wrong but i got the commas as decimal places.
Pylons take less time than overlords/depots, never knew that... (Makes it easier on nooby P's in supply blocks )

I guesd there is a mistake with upgrade times, coz when you start to make second attack and first armor with terran to achieve 2-1 you will have them completed at the same time

The CoachAI soon will have what this topic tried to reach and more (a real time track of the remaining build time for each unit/building in progress, but not upgrades) and not for Fastest only.

Working to iron out my +1 Sair/Speedlot build to hit 5 sair and 6+ speedlots with +1 to move out by 7:15, and trying to debug my timings. These timings are helpful, but one question about gas: does the build time include the delay between the time the assimilator finishes and is "minable" (you know how you can send probes to mine "too early" and they end up just sitting there)?
|
Interesting question, I just checked a replay and it does not include this transition phase, so it seems to take roughly additional 3 sec for Protoss until they can mine the gas (so 25.2s+3s~28s). Also it looks like this is generally the case for all Protoss buildings. For example when you build a gateway it takes 37.8s+3s until you can build a unit.

Oh i never knew that! Thats what happens..

Ah, thanks! That's good to know. That means to have 5 sairs by 7:15, the stargate really needs to start by 4:10-4:15 at latest (also assuming there is constant sair production).

Is this in seconds? And the commas are decimal points? So a zergling is 17.25 seconds?

In-game seconds yes and yes to the rest.

Yes. I believe fastest seconds are a little faster than IRL seconds.
