Yo again.

So much play with Battery that i had to investigate how it really works.

Something i found that seems really useful is... When you want to heal your army say in a fight, you have 6 goons that you are microing in your main.

You then want to heal and you decide to rightclick with all goons on the battery. This seems to be the wrong way of doing it.

What you do instead is to have battery hotkeyed to 2-3 (close to R) and in a quick succession click the hotkey followed by R on the GROUND kind of close to the goons you want to heal. What will happen is that the goons that are attacking will NOT move towards battery, only the ones that actually need healing. This means they can keep shooting and not get interrupted moving to battery as they have full shield. Could potentially mean one more volley of shots.

The radius of battery healing on ground seems to be quite enormous so this could be used on bigger armies too.

If you click healing on a unit, it only affects that unit.

Pretty darn cool! Thanks for sharing. I recently played an FFA with a bunch of carriers and i had to make about 20 shield batteries just to be able to recharge all of their shields. any advice on amount of shield batteries per amount of carriers?

Also, does your trick work on Air units?

A freshly made battery can heal 200 shield.

In a case of carrier fight with batteries close by you would probably need a lot of batteries if you expect dmg to be taken. Energy recharge rate is the same as other energy units ~2/s.

Yes works on air too.

wait, you can right click the goons on the battery to recharge?

I ve been doing it the opposite way you do apparently, always battery R on the ground (or R on a specific unit, like a reaver). thanks for sharing

this is funny, range is unlimited. You can tell all your damaged units to go back to the shield battery in 2 clicks. Dunno if this has any application tho.

what do you mean range is unlimited? I need to try, It could be used to disengage from a battle quickly or save probes being harassed

edit: so I tested it, and you are indeed correct. you have to r click near your units and only the damaged ones go back. There might be some niche applications

Wow, that's cool - gotta try it. I've never thought that a battery could recharge units if I use it like the attack move of units.
