But yeah if you are expecting him to actually be able to adapt to your unit composition than vultures are a much more solid counter to pure zealots. It really depends if they are killing you early or if you are losing an engagement when they have like a whole control group of zealots. Either way it's all about scouting the build, if it's an early zealot rush just keep marines on a ramp or block your choke with buildings, if you are losing to mass zealots just wait till you have enough mnms to basically be able to evaporate all his zealots before they can even kill anything before you move out, or harass their mineral lines with vultures. | ||

Liquidpedia shows how to block entrance for many popular maps. Zealot blocked by buildings are instant fail. After blocking, you can make marines or vultures and have 3~4 scv repair. There is a reason why toss don't use zealots against terran early on. | ||

But seriously, the standard response is vultures. After even just 4 or 5, you can get siege mode and get tanks for defense. | ||

EDIT: I realize this is low level play, so the problem is probably with your macro. Ignore what I just said, and simply make a lot of vultures and use spider mines often. Have fun at those LAN parties ![]() | ||

If you scout a 2 gate without a cybernetics core, I would recommend that you build a bunker in your main immediately. It's only a small investment, and it makes you completely safe. | ||

As for wallins, keep a few scvs in a hotkey so right when the zealots start attacking your depot, you can order them to repair it. | ||

If you don't wall and don't scout the two gate, it's "VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE" to hold at the highest levels. The usual timing of the 2 gateway zealot will hit around the time your getting out your second marine and have just started your factory (assuming it's at 15/18) The first center pylon should start building around 1:15. 1 Zealot is capable of taking out 3 Marine but you will have 2 Zealot at your base and your factory won't be near completion for you to have vulture, let alone mines to deal with it. I've countered it without blocking before by immediately producing a second barrack instead of a factory, building an academy and keeping my marine inside my mineral line until I had enough M&M to push out. But, even that wasn't very effective because the protoss can easily switch to storm or expand and make photon cannon to defend it whilst getting ahead in economy. There are three options you could take: 1. Blocking (Walling off) 2. Putting a few SCV on the ramp and lifting your barrack over them after the first Marine is produced (if the attack doesn't hit before then). However, this requires a lot of skill to do given the amount of time you have to do it... 3. Scout it and react accordingly But, if you don't scout it and you don't wall, your pretty much screwed. Seriously, I thought blocking entrance is standard for siege expand? Also, I think going tank mode and have scv blocking entrance was better response. | ||

He could have just walled the ramp with SCVs, and had all his units behind it meaning he would have to target fire every SCV. Even better, float a building over the top and zealots just herp derp till they die. | ||
