about zealot damage

i think zealots damage is 8+8 right? so if a unit has 2 armor zealot will hit (8-2)+ (8-2)=12 total damage is this right? i cant find any information about this on the net.

i have a question why is it so? because if not zeals are too strong or what?? because many other units do dmg like zeals for example lings ullis

Zerglings and Ultralisk's damage are not like Zealot's. Zergling damage is 5 and Ultralisk damage is 20. Zealot damage is 8+8.

this is why protoss players complain that pvz is unbalanced.
its like this.
you spend so much gas and minerals to get your units to 3 1 3 upgrades.
they spend less to get 3 3 lings.
they can get more lings than you.
after all those upgrades they die in 3 hits from zlots and they hit a lot faster while your zlots hit at the same rate.

Zealot, wraith(air), scout(air), goliath(air) - 2
Firebat - 3
All other units - 1

Wraiths only attack once for both ground and air.

Firebats attack 3 times, but it's rarely or never for full damage so it's generally closer to 2x.

i don't understand firebats

do you mean they attack (8) + (8) = 16?

or 16/3 + 16/3 + 16/3 = 16?

or 16 * 3 but its closer to 16 * 2?

That's really interesting about zealots, I knew that they had two 8 hits but I didn't know the implications were so great, T_T

To ask an old question, when you do damage and then damage type, damage reduction comes first, correct? I.E. Dragoons only do 1/2 to units like marine/zergling, so if the marine gets +1 armor it takes 5 shots instead of 4 to kill - however are the shots doing 20/2 -1 or .. 20-1 / 2?

ps: wouldn't it be cool if vultures dealt normal damage?

i believe armor is factored in first and then damage type.

so it would be 20-1 / 2

no.

Explosive damage does 50% to small, 75% to medium, and 100% to large.
Concussive damage does 100% to small, 50% to medium, and 25% to large.
Normal damage does 100% to all.
Happiness only real when shared.

yeehaw: You are indeed correct. The third hit will only work on larger units, like tanks/vults/ultras, etc.

Manit0u: I think you misunderstood something... because you say "like archons", I think you were thinking something about people saying Archons take full damage, this is because shields take full damage regardless of unit size.

Also, back on the subject of Firebats, they are very weird... they can do varying amounts of damage, and direct damage mind you (ie, actually attacking a specific unit) not splash depending upon the angle they're attacking at. I was just fooling around in single player, making a Bat shoot at invidual marines one at a time at different angles, sometimes doing 16, sometimes 12, sometimes 10, and once I could swore he did 18 (no upgrades either way). Strange unit~

and archons, if a unit has 10 hp left, the archon switch target direct after it has killed the units with 10hp, so it deals 20 to the units next to it. kinda weird too. And in one game, it killed one of my probes, without I had done anything, I just klicked it to go somewhere and it killed a probe. quit strange ^^

I think a great change is for Blizzard to make in a new patch a "Faster Zealot Attack" upgrade That would be GOOD TIMES :D
