(P)Spear[Shield] has been transferred to Hwaseung Oz from OGN. Oz felt that this would strengthen their Protoss lineup.

In my opinion, Hwaseung's Protoss lineup must suck a lot to have to import (P)Spear, whose only notable achievement is knocking (Z)sAviOr out of the MSL a couple of seasons ago. Anyway, isn't (P)Young and (P)BackHo both better than (P)Spear?

OGN and MBC are truly becoming farm teams.

BackHo is miles better than most Protoss really, only the six dragons are clearly better then he is.

The only thing I remember about Spear is that he looks like Best, or at least used to.I can also remember watching his fpvod on python, and thats it ~
Hopefully he will get better @ OZ.

Had to be in hospital for about a month because of back problems (heh..), such a long time and no practice probably dropped his skill a lot. Such a bad timing as he was just starting to do extremely well in invidual leagues and also was a very nice players for the team.

Yeah, what the fuck?
Spear hasn't even played a TV game since December, and when he did he had horrible PvP/PvT, and mediocre PvZ (I guess?).

I really hope that's true, SKT keeping up with their tradition of strong Zergs.

Spear is only going to make Hwaseung's Protoss lineup weaker, though. What's with these weird player trades that make no sense. Let's get a Protoss, which team should we look at? OGN, of course, duh.

It's gotta be bad for the team morale. All the players who don't get put in WL lineups regularly are probably wondering when they're going to get passed to another team now.

well it makes sense to recruit a protoss for Hwaseung, I mean look at their roster they have 5 protoss in total and only 2 of them have ever appeared on TV

i mean for terran they have (T)Lomo, (T)fOrGG and (T)HiyA who are all good players that deliver in proleague
for zerg they have.. (Z)Jaedong, who team carries in proleague
for protoss they have (P)Young, and now (P)BackHo is back (but hes probably out of shape) so really that only leaves young for now, it makes sense to recruit someone

One less protoss for (P)Chalrenge to compete with for playing time in PL. OGN should trade away (P)Tazza and (P)Horang2 now so I can see Lee Seung Hoon pimp it up every week!

For a very little money they're hoping for a small chance of him becoming something, remember even Flash was bought like this from WeMade before becoming a huge star.

They need a protoss and for some reason don't want to buy an already established superstar they really have no other ways of acquiring one but taking a cheap offer from another team or scouting up and coming amateurs and its far easier to buy from another team.

Why is anyone bothered about Hwaseung buying a talented, yet unproven Protoss? It's not only Stars that should be exchanged, and they definitely need a solid Protoss. Spear isn't that Protoss yet but buying an established one out of his contract would be way more expensive.

What a silly move. If you're going to buy a Protoss, buy a dragon or don't buy anything at all, Oz.
That's not awful writing, DAMMIT. It's perfectly sensical english construction.

The dragons aren't going to go anywhere, unless it's for a stupid amount of money, so OZ has to look somewhere for Protoss talent. If I was OZ I would have been trying to get a player like Horang or Tazza instead of Spear, but I'm sure OGN holds them at much higher esteem than Spear and wants to keep them around.

Only other option would have been to try out some of STX's second string protoss players like SoO or YoonJoong, but I don't know how open STX is to transferring out their talent.

Buying a player that qualifies as a 'dragon' would cost a small fortune right now, especially because they already have binding contracts and can't just hop in to another team because of better salary, you have to pay the team quite a big amount of money to be able to transfer a player.

When you think about the current situation of these top protoss players, most of them are from teams that if they'd lose the player they would be helpless, for example Woongjin and STX heavily rely on their protoss player and really it'd hurt them so much to lose those players.

The only 'dragon' I can think of being possible for the team to give out is Best, but the team is T1 and with such a big sponsor they probably aren't exactly looking to selling out their players for money, maybe they could trade him away for a zerg though? That'd be awesome, just that OZ really has no other zergs to give out but Jaedong and that would be just silly.

The reason they took Spear is probably just because he was offered when Hwaseung contacted the other teams, its not that common that talented players (results or not) are offered to be sold, so when the situation is bad they just have to take what they can.

Jaedong to SKT1 would be crazy.
Just imagine it, SKT which doesn`t have any weakness other than no strong zergs.

July, but I don't know if you can even count that as a player left because he was there barely for a few months so he wasn't exactly someone they were dedicated on having.

Now that I think about it, what a huge mistake on giving the guy away, just after that he won OSL and (yet again) became a strong zerg to count on winning proleague matches.

OGN is always bringing ridiculous numbers of players to PL - I'm glad they're finally downsizing with the promotion of rookies like Horang2 and TazzA. Hwaseung really tended to bring a line up half the size of OGN to each match - when they played against each other it looked as though OGN had brought 2 teams instead of one (lol)

I remember seeing some decent games of Spear in PL way back when...like when 2v2s were still around. Nothing spectacular, though.

Maybe they think that if spear was given some tips by lecaf's current toss line then he could grow into something really useful. I dunno what protosses he could've really been mentored by in ogn. Except perhaps zeus hyung

OZ doesn't have any protoss players that could really mentor him either, unless Anytime comes back to OZ. Backho and Young both need mentoring as well.

What the hell, is there really a point in buying such players? Well they know what they are doing but.. it's been quite long time since some really big trade was made. Bisu probably?

I think its more that Oz saw some kind of potential in Spear. It's worth the speculation to grab a player on the odd chance that he might become a star like Flash did for KTF.

It's sort of like the MLB when a team trades for prospects. They trade for prospects because they hope that the prospects will become great players in the future.

Wow, i've never heard of him, but he beat GoRush, Savior, and Iris back to back to back............................... although all 3 were old or slumping i suppose. Guess it gives Oz an average number 3 Toss player, maybe they suspect Backho will get injured again.

imagine if flash were still on wemade. he, mind, and nada would make for the sickest terran lineup....

as for spear, maybe he's a really good practice partner, but never performs well in competition? or maybe jaedong just needs more flesh to feed upon in order to dominate the osl and oz figured they'd rather buy a new (useless) player than lose one of their own?

ArtOfTerran moved from Samsung to Hexatron.

I believe he was referring to kOs (because he wouldn't accept a pay cut so he left and joined eNature/eSTRO, he sucked anyway).

Also, consider this.

The OGN house is apparently the most strictest of all the gaming teams. Anyone remember Terato? Got transferred to KOR for a nice lump sum to POS, then bam, he gets caught going out and is released.

Same went with Casy although he transferred to WeMade rather than get released.

are you basing "The OGN house is apparently the most strictest of all the gaming teams" just on those 2 things? cuz any team would kick someone out for sneaking out and partying and casy had other issues

i think stx and cj are supposed to be the stictest

Hopefully he will get better @ OZ.

IMO he doesn't look like best at all. In fact he reminds me of (Z)ZerO

Sigamari, ArtofTerran(i think it was him that moved to Hexatron), among others.

Why did ArtofTerran move to hexatron? I imagine the salary on SKT1 was far superior.

ArtOfTerran moved from Samsung to Hexatron.

I believe he was referring to kOs (because he wouldn't accept a pay cut so he left and joined eNature/eSTRO, he sucked anyway).

I think a raising rookie was a better choice, horang2 and tazza have higher chances of improving.

Spear was supposed to be promising, once upon a time. I think. He's won televised games before, right?

He's still a long ways from being what Anytime was though.

Ya he was kinda promising. But nothing seemed to come of it. I used to watch all his reps from the Barbara amateur starleague thing, back before he went pro. He beat Iris pretty nicely in one televised game, but not much after that looked all that great.
I *heart* bisu, nada, mind, and the lakers
