I mean, Jaedong did great for 3 months to win 1 OSL title, Stork had a bronze and 2 silvers I believe.
Not to mention how Bisu revolutionized PvZ and seemed to have that special aura around him for a while. It could just be my bias, but look at the Power rank for 07 and how many months Bisu was number 1.
I think Jaedong might have been the best player throughout the year, but Bisu was surely the best player throughout the year.
Cool list and information though.
The best player for the year 2003, 2005 and 2007 are up for debate. It looks like the person who picked the winners tried to weigh each players' accomplishments fairly as possible, though going by the winners of 2003 and 2005, I think it's a little harsh not to name Stork as the best player of 2007. Stork of 2007 was way scarier than Oov of 2005, though it must be said that he has more competition.

179 to 81 games, boy I wonder what would have happened if oov played that many hmm He most probably would have won around 79% of them.
No, and Letmelose said it for me ;P. If you go and look, at 179 games oov's record was 67.60% that was on January 12, 2005(after his run of 2004). It's not definitive but it is certainly a point. 179 games at 67.60% is certainly exemplary, but it definitely waters it down a bit.
My post was more of a jab toward Carnac.

isn't this just given to the player with the highest win % at the end of the playing season (not the year)
hence JD for 2007 not stork (cause stork lost his last finals 3-0 when he only needed to win one to keep top spot)

2003 / 2005 / 2007 ... It's not always easy to tell who was the best player of the year. The beginning of 2003 easily belongs to Nada, with Chojja as a close second, but later in the year, Ra was the man to beat and Oov was already a monster. In terms of titles, Nada won 1 osl and 1 msl, but they both happened very early in 2003, both leagues starting in 2002. He ended up 2nd in msl too. Ra also has 2 titles and and a 2nd place this year. Kingdom, Xellos and Oov have 1 title each.
I don't know how Nada managed to play way more games than Ra this year, maybe special events, proleague or something... I'd rate Nada #1 with Ra as a very, very close 2nd. Oov gets an honorable mention for his incredible winrate.
2005 is maybe the hardest year: By the beginning of the year, Nada and Gorush were the bests by far, both winning a title and providing us great games Then, July and Goodfriend battled in osl while MSL became Savior's playground. By the end of the year though. To end the year, Anytime came out of nowhere to beat Boxer back to his best level. Damn, that's a hard pick this year. Maybe i'd give #1 to July, since he got a gold and a silver in osl this year, also winning KT-KTF... Oov was a force in both msl and osl of course and proleague is of course in his favor in those days when T1 won everything.
2007, Bisu imo should get #1, even though Jaedong had a huge impact on the second part of the year. I think probably once again proleague has an impact on this choice, given how Lecaz came out of the bottom teams to become 2007 champion. But well, it's Bisu / Jaedong or Jaedong / Bisu. Stork... has an insane record for a player who didn't win anything.

This was already said about JD got 2007 because the best player of 2007 award is an award that starts from april 2007 like this season to the end of the season which was March this year when the awards are given . So Bisu's 1 MSL victory was the season before 2007 but was still in 2007year . So Bisu had only 1 MSL 1 victory 1 second place were JD had 1 OSL and 1 MSL victory + his team won the PL in which he helped quite a lot .... So far the 2008 season no one has won eny titles !!!

Well, in this case, the "2003 season" champion should be Ra and not Nada.

My take on the best players of 2007 (not season 2007, so any matches or achievements in 2008 are excluded)
Candidate 1: Stork
All matches against progamers: 104 wins 43 losses 70.7% Official Kespa matches: 78 wins 37 losses 67.8% Shinhan Proleague R1: 16 wins 4 losses Shinhan Proleague R2: 14 wins 5 losses Individual Leagues: Daum OSL 3rd place, GomTV MSL S2 2nd place, Ever OSL 2nd place Other: WCG Korea 2nd place, WCG Finals 1st place, Shinhan Proleague R1 1st place, Shinhan Proleague R1 MVP
Candidate 2: Bisu
All matches against progamers: 81 wins 47 losses 63.3% Official Kespa matches: 63 wins 41 losses 60.6% Shinhan Proleague R1: 6 wins 7 losses Shinhan Proleague R2: 1 win 3 losses Individual Leagues: GomTV MSL S1 1st place, GomTV MSL S2 1st place, GomTV MSL S3 2nd place, Ever OSL 3rd place Other: IEF 2007 1st place, Blizzard WWI 1st place
Candidate 3: Jaedong
All matches against progamers: 90 wins 41 losses 68.7% Official Kespa matches: 57 wins 31 losses 64.77% Shinhan Proleague R1: 16 wins 7 losses Shinhan Proleague R2: 11 wins 6 losses Individual Leagues: Ever OSL 1st place Other: Seoul E-Sports Festival 1st place, Shinhan R1 Proleague 2nd place, Shinhan R2 Proleague 1st place
I personally believe that despite multiple failures at the higher stages of individual leagues, Stork was the best player of the year 2007 by some margin. That applies to season 2007 too. I know many of you feel that Stork shouldn't be in the discussion because of his lack of individual league titles, and I agree to some extent.
But I wonder how many of you are willing to say the same for Bisu. Bisu had by far the greatest success in individual leagues in 2007, but his lackluster proleague record cannot be ignored. How can you be the best player of the year if you weren't even the best player on your team that year? Bisu not only failed to lead his team to glory, but struggled to even put his name on the roster. On this day and age when proleague schedules occupy most of progamers' time, such poor results cannot be ignored for the sake of convenience.
If you're willing to overlook the horrible choking in the finals, Stork was by far the best player of 2007. If it's only the individual league titles you're interested in, Bisu was head and shoulders above everyone else. If you only seek players who reached the highest levels in both the proleague and individual leagues, Jaedong is the only player who succeeded in doing so although I believe that Jaedong's candidancy as the best player can only be truly argued for if you're taking season 2007, not year 2007, into account.
Nobody had true domination in 2007. Stork was the closest to actually doing so (but failed at vital stages which left strong impressions), Bisu was the closest to giving the illusion of true domination (by mimicking Savior's MSL rampage) and we saw a glimpse of true domination with Jaedong as the year 2007 came to a close. History will probably have Bisu as the best, as he grabbed the most headlines and created the most drama out of any players that year, and I agree that Bisu represents the year 2007 the best, but I think it would be a great injustice to dismiss Stork that easily when it was clear that no player was closer than him in performing the best in all competitions throughout the year.

Distinguishing "season" performances and "yearly" performances only became an issue recently. I think it would be meaningless to distinguish the two as far back as 2003 because there were separate proleagues and ongoing competitions that hadn't died out which makes the concept of a "season" completely useless.
I would have LOVED to say that Nal Ra was the best player in 2003. He is the greatest protoss player I've seen and he would deserve such a title, but Nada was way too good that year. Not only did he start off the year by sweeping all competitions, but he proved his class time and time again in the MSL (Nal Ra and Oov bettered him in only one MSL each) and how can we forget his utter domination in KTF Premierleague (which I believe had the biggest tournament winnings at the time). Oov and Nal Ra were stronger players that him for periods of time, but they didn't even come close to having a year like Nada did.

I definitely agree with that statement, Nada is probably the best player of 2003, but if we consider from ~ april 2003 until april 2004, that makes it a bit harder. You make a point with KTF premiere league though, Nada was incredibly good there. Well, not that it matters so much anyway

is any player still in both starlegues ?

seriously someone get a new picture for Jaedong thats just disgusting....

Stork choked too many times to be considered THE BEST player of 2007. In order to be THE BEST, you have to win, you cannot lose when it comes down to it. It's a competition between Bisu and Jaedong and I think it goes to Jaedong for having a better win percentage, far superior performance in proleague and similar performance in individual leagues.

wow um nada was best player 2 years in a row and then second like 2-3 in a row? pretty sick

Stork best player of 2007, easy. It really annoys me how people act as if Silver medals are the same as if he never even qualified for the tournaments. Also Stork did get a gold in 2007! People always act like WCG didn't happen; especially with the fact that WCG is weighted on the OP's list I think this is very unfair. Or does only the Korean qualifiers count? -_-
Bisu has the 2 golds and the most buzz, but as pointed out his winrate in proleague was not so great. Jaedong only really became a force at the very end of 2007 and I think Lecaf OZ's rise up the ladder ranks is as much due to his team mates improving as a show of his dominance.
<3 Stork.

Bisu totally deserves the 2007 award and I was very surprised when KeSPa gave it to Jaedong for only his good performance at the end of the year vs. Bisu's performance throughout.
I think people deciding the best for 2007 now are influenced by the current performance of each player in question. Right now JD is still dominating, but Bisu isn't nearly at the level he once was at.
The OP's decisions for some of the years was completely arbitrary. Notice how he lists all the OSL/MSL titles from 2000-2006, then completely ignores this in 2007 and doesn't even give Bisu any credit for his 2 golds + silver. JD hasn't revolutionalized Zerg at all. He's just a continuation of Savior's play, but hasn't introduced anything new to the race as a whole.
If you look at the thread for the TL.net awards thread, it was nearly unanimous (in Jan 2008) that Bisu was by far the best player of 2007.

This year it is undisputedly given to the revolutionist, Bisu.
As sAviOr dominated in 2006, Bisu dominated in 2007, with two straight MSL's and a semi-final appearance in the OSL, there was no one to match him in terms of consistancy. Although he struggled later on in the year (especially in the proleague), he still shows that he was the one to beat in 2007.
kNyTTyM During the 2007 year he was the closest to the bonjwa title. He won GomTV 1 and 2 and was the runner up in season 3. In his first MSL win, he dismantled the strongest ZvP player in the world and in his second final appearance, he beat Stork in an epic bo5 series. He revolutionized PvZ by making FE sair builds popular and shows consistent play in starleagues. During this year, all is losses were considered upsets therefore showing the reputation he has gained as best player of 2007. DJEtterStyle There just can't be any debate on this one: Bisu was the best player of 2007. Two MSL wins, an MSL second place, and an OSL third place? In a single year? Come on.
