The way it's presented (showing the stats then ignoring them), it looks like the "best player" is chosen almost arbitrarily. Maybe add another column to the player data for # titles won that year would help? Thanks for the post though, it's interesting history!

i donno, every player had played diffrend amount of games..
its very hard to say who is the best player if we just look those winning rates, imo

if we look only the winning rate someone who is 1-0 would be number one =P

you found the worst picture you could for jaedong. I take it you dont like him. LOL. Anyways uh, I have no idea why Jaedong won it last year. Yeah, he did good. Went on quite a streak, and won an osl. But that is only at the end of the year. The start of the year, Savior was raping it up, and in the middle to the end, bisu was. If were looking for the entire year, I don't think jaedong deserved it.

or is it based on winning percentage?
Can you dig it?

It's interesting how many games sAviOr was getting when he started to decline. Also, NaDa is a ridiculous work horse.

The original post had stars for titles. Solid stars for golds and hollow stars for silvers. Looks like most of the stars got lost over the translation though.

He most probably would have won around 79% of them.
That wasn't any act of God. That was an act of pure human fuckery.

Idk how Bisu didn't get best player of 2007. He has 2 MSL golds and a Silver. He has an OSL ro8 appearance and a bronze medal.

I mean, Jaedong did great for 3 months to win 1 OSL title, Stork had a bronze and 2 silvers I believe.

Not to mention how Bisu revolutionized PvZ and seemed to have that special aura around him for a while. It could just be my bias, but look at the Power rank for 07 and how many months Bisu was number 1.

I think Jaedong might have been the best player at the end of the year, but Bisu was surely the best player throughout the year.

Cool list and information though.

His 2004 statistics would be a hint to what would have happened if Oov were to play more games against top class players. Trophy-wise, 2004 was by far Oov's most successful year, but once he qualified for both leagues and came up against top class opponents on a regular basis, his god like statistics were lost.

in 2003, oov's winning of msl + his recordbreaking win percentage and his overall performance that year (imo, but also i think in a lot of peoples' opinions) outweighs nadas 1 starleague and 3 final appearances (which is all they were). nada was an excellent player, one of the all-time greats, but id say oov outdid him that year.

edit: this makes me curious as to whether someone has the kespa/ELO formulas, as if you really wanted to know who was "best", they do a pretty good job of ranking players. all youd have to do is insert the years statistics rather than past 3 months (or whatever the standard is now). in theory you could apply this to career/lifetime (i know theres an outdated thread doing exactly that, somewhere). just a thought.
