For Memory Cell, it seems to have a bit of positional imbalances, with the positioning of the ramps, and on Nightlight I don't like the second path into the natural. Seeing those maps I just don't get the, oh I would like to do this or that, man I want to play that map feel.

(4)Katrina SE P>>>>T, we don't have Flash (2)Bluestorm 1.2 been played to death, and people complain about balance a lot one way or another. (2)Hwarangdo T>Z, P>T

I agree bluestorm has been played to death and is boring to play and watch, but atleast people know it well, otherwise I feel people might be overwhelmed by unfamiliar maps. Hwarangdo probably is imbalanced, but atleast it's something different? ![]() Even if Katrina is badly imbalanced, atleast everyone knows it. The second path into Nightlight's nat is part of what makes it special and different ![]() More feedback for removing those maps will ensure their removal, I'm not against removing them. Just throwing out why I think they could help the tourney maybe. Comes down to balance vs familiarity =/

( I think for zerg to spend 10-15 minutes thinking about a map and then playing it is the best possible training for race fluidity(sp?)) Also is anybody interested in having WCG mini-tournaments, I or someone else could host them , using wcg maps exclusively...? I am down >.<

Overplayed maps in or out? One foreign map per round loser picks? Or all foreign maps? New pro maps or no? For foreign maps, I'd most likely be picking more standard-esque maps than experimental type ones, but it's likely I might pick a relatively standard map which does have an experimental feature as well. I agree with this, but I think it should be very explicit of how standard we're shooting for. You should set up some standardization rules that maps should follow. Such as "main should have 8 to 10 minerals, no more or less" or "main-nat choke should be between 4 or 8 units, no more no less" etc for example. Things like that.I could contribute with making maps. But I won't play because I'm bad and I think it's important that you have good players to test how the maps plays at high levels. I believe we have enough C+ or better players on TL to gather 16 people for a short 3 hour tourney. We should ask those guys for help.

(2)Hwarangdo T>Z, P>T i like maps that are imbalanced. i think its entertaining to watch how a player compensates for it. and with imba maps we get new strats and builds from players which we don't see otherwise to try and make up for the fact that they would get raped if they played the same normal / boring style almost everyone plays.

That should work out well though, it'll give us a full week to review the maps, and more time for feedback from tl on the mappool itself.

A foreign-map tourny would get me more practice. I'm always trying to improve at SC (who isn't?) and I get bored playing the same maps. It's not that I couldn't just download some random maps and play against my friends, which we do sometimes, but with a tournament I'd look over the map and really think about it. I couldn't cheat and read someone elses analysis. By doing this yourself you can get better intellectually rather than getting better by memorization. I'm not saying the FE Seismic maps was bad, it can help you get better at analyzing maps and is a great read, but you don't get this out of it. I'm sure most people just read it to find out what strategies they can abuse other people on iccup with. This doesn't teach you how to formulate a strategy of your own, you're just carrying out someone elses plan and pretending you're elite. In my opinion, that's what SC is these days. You copy an exact BO and plan for the few maps that are played. You then mass game to improve your mechanics and to do the BO "perfectly". You win some games on ICCUP and you think you're amazing. I'm in for the tournament. It would be nice to have some games that reward people for having good mechanics AND intelligence.

![]() we should definitely narrow down the choices first to like 4-5 though, otherwise we won't get enough games to balance any of them

I'd be up for a one day tourny where we can pick up the maps a couple weeks ahead of time. That'd be fun.
