I don't think so. Thats possible for something like D2R given the warlock reception, but I think Brood War has a very particular fanbase that wouldn't take kindly to that.
It's more likely that the reason its on the Remaster webpage is because the new game will be tied to some piece of the brood war story more directly than the story that came out of SC2. Like a fork in the road content thing. Maybe instead of Reynor and Kerrigan and the rest, the story follows some future thing more related to zerg and the overmind than it has to do with xel'naga.
Or they're going to expand teasers to other SC related webpages as we approach blizzcon and the remaster was simply the first page they made the change to.
Let's hope for some balance changes... God knows the game has devolved to a 2-race RTS at the highest level. I don't want any art changes, remaster is perfect. If they want to ad sc3 on top, why not.

This is the racial distribution of ASL 19, about a year ago:
According to industry chatter the glitching means they will be be taking SC:Broodwar Remastered servers offline due to it costing $48.01/year without any real return on investment. That $48.01 will then be used to pay for Hearthstone QA junior's Starbucks frap the following Monday after a ribbon cutting. I petitioned by sending Blizzard gorilla shit in the mail with a return addy but have yet to hear back.
Anyway I hope its either Starcraft 3 or Starcraft 4 for the big news, though I would settle for a new Overwatch hero.

How is that a 2 race RTS at the highest level?
You have to be trolling/rage baiting.
You should rather post champion and sucess numbers for MSL, OSL, KSL, ASL, KCM, etc. Taking one single ASL is irrelevant.

If you wanna actually discuss this you should post winrates across every year of competitive starcraft for the leagues you mentioned. Who cares which player is the 1 champion at the end? If protoss was 23/24 every ASL but Flash won each time, would you still say Protoss needs a buff? Atleast I posted 1 point of evidence, you just state it like its self evident.

how is starcraft shooter unexpected? all their hiring website was listing only positions hinting towards shooter starcraft for the last 5 years.

post total earning by race in broodwar since 90's and you will probably see if it's "balanced" and by how much.

Because every proponent of this position has tunnel vision. They're all working backwards from the same idiotic conclusion and when reason or evidence comes up that contradicts it, they just ignore it. Every single time.
no balance change is needed, there are maps where protoss is heavily favored, zerg is heavily favored, and it's possible to make a map where terran has 100% winrate
we just need to adjust map pool/map features until winrates in ASL/proleague/k-league become more or less 50%
however i believe what snow said, the previous seasons is not due to racial imbalance but because specific players are just real good (soma & soulkey) i wouldn't say they are at peak flash's level, but they level they bring to ASL has been very close

So if I make a 1M $ winner takes all tournament and only invite players from 1 race I can make Starcraft (im)balanced? Most of what Starcraft players have made over the years (e.g. earnings) come from team salaries and now stream donations. Given how popular Rain, Britney and Shuttle are, I wouldn´t be shocked if that ends up being Protoss favored, at least for the modern streaming age... How is earnings a better balance indicator than winrates?

I am talking tournament winnings. and variation will occur with any statistics. well for once, you make assumtions such as: 1) all top players competed (if there is money usually there are players) 2) 1 data point in a huge data set means nothing.

Nobody competes in any of these tournaments for money, see my point of most of their money coming from salary/streaming. What about the intel gomtv classic? Kespa pulled teams out towards the end, regardless of prize money. Same goes for when SPOTV tried to run a Starleague a couple years back, TBLS didn´t participate regardless of how much money was up for grabs. Flash also dodged KSL for its entirety. Proleague didn´t even pay players directly, yet it was the main focus of practice during that era. You also dodged my question, why not use winrate in top level tournaments over prize money earned? Starcraft also has crazy top heavy prize pools, so you might as well use championships anyway.

BeSt won the ultimate battle tournament, each match was 9-game-play-all (essentially bo9)... it was like a year or so ago, so i forget exactly which zergs were present, but he definitely beat some in his run (the likes of soma/soulkey/zero)
On September 05 2026 04:06 Rainalcar wrote: How many times did a Protoss win a pvz bo7? And zerg? Look as far back as you want.
Can´t really go far back given that bo7 weren´t a thing before remastered. Only top level tournaments with bo7s I can think off are the last couple ASLs and KSL. Looking at bo5s and bo7s would probably be a better indicator, but would also require going through the entire history of the game...
Anyways here is what you ask for: Protoss won 4 Zerg won 7 You wanna make a balance patch because of that? Also keep in mind 3 of those 7 are soulkey, and 2 of the remaining 4 are soma. Idk about you but I don´t see the point in throwing out 20 years of balance because soma and soulkey peaked back to back. Almost half of them also went to game seven, which is super unlikely to happen, but imo shows good balance.
EDIT: If you count the two bo9's best played, it would be 6-7 in zergs favor. Thats as balanced as a a sample size of 13 matches can be.

Please no. Broodwar stumbled into insanely balanced races by accident. Any attempt to make balance changes, especially by Blizzard, will likely make it worse. I.e. the chance for it getting worse is so much higher than it getting better, it's not worth the risk at all.
If anything, map makers may need to look more into stuff that helps protoss. These days, it seems most maps are slightly T>Z>P=T, with a few exceptions. P used to be more favoured vs T on maps in the past but this does not seem to be the case anymore in recent map pools.
Anyways, highly off-topic now. Just don't ask Blizzard to ruin a game, please.
