I think this map pool is the best, except season 5.

(2) BlitzY

This is a good map with only an island base for 2 players. If game has not reached to 25 minutes yet, no one wants to take it. Island base is so hard to defend but so easy to attack. But if you want to gamble, you can take it sneakily.

It also has a narrow path for mutas kill M&M so easily, maybe TvZ is not enough hard for Terran, huh?. In TvP, Siege Tank will love the path so much when T can take advantage there and then control, camp around Protoss' home.

Siege Tank also gets nice places for them at another path from high ground and edge of Terran's base. Maybe Protoss should take 5 bases before 13 minutes and beat Terran by mass Arbiter non stop or mass Carriers.

Best matchup: PvZ, distance from 2 main bases pretty far. I think Protoss likes this and Zerg doesn't get sad!

(2) Neo Dark Origin

This is a nice map because it looks like Destination but 3rd base so hard for Terran grabs it. The backdoor was created for children who want some games for fun. It's okay!

Best matchup: all matchup, as long as there's no Terran here.

(4) Retro

I love this map because it's not unbalance like previous version (Fighting Spirit, the map can judge who will lose if his 3rd base too far but it's too close his enemy simultaneously).

Best matchup: TvZ, I think Protoss don't fit on this

(4) Radeon

This is an error version of Vermee. At Vermee, Terran has 55% winrate on all matchup. At Radeon, Terran has 65% winrate on all matchup at least.

Terran almost don't need do anything to take 4 bases safety. Laying some mines, wall in, take 3rd base. 1 bunker + 2 Siege Tanks, wall in, take 4th base.

In the opposite direction, Siege Tanks will make damage so much from outside with Goliaths, Vultures wait to kill anyone want to come Tanks. Except main bases, other bases get hurt easily by Siege Tanks on this map.

Best matchup: ZvP, Terran is so strong, maybe AMD loves Terran.

(4) Citadel

New Polypoid version, that's it. Polypoid is the best balance map of history StarCraft. I think Citadel can do the same thing.

Best matchup: all matchup

(4) Troy

Troy is the best map in the map pool. Only IQ which thing you need on Troy. You have to decide to use how many bases to kill your enemy. One base is not fool idea!

Economy almost is useless and control too. You have money, you have control map but you have no IQ, you can't win here.

Best matchup: ZvZ, all Zerg players have less than 55% winrate in ZvZ, just gamble. If they play 100% ZvZ games on this map. I do not surprise if someone reaches 95% winrate.

They insist on Dark Origin which to me has always felt like the "let's get this out of the way" map.
Blitz reminds me of another map but now I'm blanking of which.
I think there should be 7 maps though.
Aside from DO, I think Terrans gonna have a field day. Maybe intentional because of possible Flash return?

Probably Blitz X lol

There are just 2 new maps, the rest are old maps + Blitz Y which is just a rotated and slightly adapted Blitz X, basically.

Blitz looks like a Terran graveyard.
Citadel and Radeon look nice.

Really mid. Kinda crazy they bring back Troy.

I dont really get the Blitzy map. Can someone explain how that island expo plays out ? What kind of play can you do with that thing ? That remake from Blitz X is really mid not gonna lie.

Ironically that in the island map discussion, I mention bringing back Troy and here we are! Well, I got what I asked for for Christmas haha.

Blitz feels like an outdated map that didn't get enough balance changes to keep it up to date, but I guess we'll end up seeing some lower econ games on that map, since takings a 3rd base seems very challenging.

I think looking at Blitz Y and X side by side, I do see quite a bit of improvements, but I think they could continue by pushing the mineral only closer to the natural while still keeping the same ramp structure they currently have. Also, while not necessary, I think moving the 9 base so that it creates an opening behind it would be interesting, but it might cramp the center too much.

I would like Radeon more if the bottom and top high ground base have 1 less patch of minerals. I don't like single ramp high ground bases. Overall the mix up nice. Hopefully NDO doesn't have a ridiculous life span

I like the maps overall.

I'm surprised they decided to keep Dark Origin and got rid of both Apocalypse and Invader, which seemed like great maps to me. Dark Origin however tends to result in the exact same type of games, especially in PvZ.

It looks like there are three spots to place the CC/NEX/Hatch.

The center spot is vulnerable from the tight corridor but allows mining from both geysers.

The other two spots, on the (big) black triangles, are less vulnerable, but offer fewer minerals to mine, and one geyser will be far away.

I might be wrong, but such features often seem interesting and exciting only during the map making process. However, the mechanics of such tend to get figured out in-game very quickly and often become either stale and one-dimensional or imbalanced in some way.

So sick of seeing Protoss getting contained on 2base in PvZ on Dark Origin. Would love to see a new 1v1 map replace it in the pool.

if people want to see more protoss ASL champions + hydras in ZvZ they should just add fastest to the map pool

Dark Origin shouldn't be anywhere in a competitive SC tournament. Such an unbalanced map.

Citadel looks nice but I get the feeling that it will be unbalanced too, although I can't quite put my finger on it yet.
