just use your arm to cover the part of the screen showing the mmr. so you can see the race but not the name/mmr, in seriousness you just need to learn some way of handling anxiety. a good way is to develop a positive rational mindset >If my enemy is lower than me, I scare that I will have to lost so much my points from noobs or trollers. the FACT is that he has lower mmr than you do. why you should be scared of him in the first place? stay calm and play your regular game. if you scared of smurfs don't ever play during non-peak korean hours. > If my enemy is higher than me, I get hopeless to play, so I know I can win him. rather than "oh i lose for sure so hopeless", see it as an great opportunity to play against a superior opponent to hone your skills further. stay in the game as long as possible and try to frustrate and cause problems for him. you lose, you drop very little points. you win, congrats you have improved as a player. so essentially you have nothing to lose.

If you're much higher ranked -> play safe if they're much higher ranked -> cheeze (bbs, cc first, etc) if ranks are close -> play normal/standard or something similar that makes you play confortable :-)

Ingame you can look at the diplomacy tab to see their race. And the map is quite apparent by positioning, theme and mineral formations.

He really want to kill me. Honestly, if he has more than 200 points, I have no learn anything. Difference of level is so terrible to learn. Even he knows how to kill me so fast. Anyway, I thank your advices.

Lower players usually cheese to higher players. Higher players usually play safely to lower players. We need to invest some IQ to counter this. I always play safely with higher players and cheese with lower players. I also take BBS or CC first to kill random players. Random players like 3 hatch before pool, 12 nexus and CC first or double facs, starports.

Sure, I'm almost certainly going to get trounced, but there's no better way to learn than getting one's ass kicked imo. I've heard this from more players but I disagree, Ok, maybe +200mmr you can learn something, but if your opponent is so much better, like 400, then you won't really learn a thing (especially on lower levels) until that guy goes over the replay with you and tells you point by point your mistakes... So to say only playing against a much better opponent is the best way to learn is in my opinion totally wrong. Ontopic: just try to not care about mmr, of course it's easy to say...

Personally, I see the game as sort of a puzzle almost. If I'm losing, that means what I'm doing isn't good enough, and so I look over my replays and see what can be done better, what could be done differently, etc. If I get really stumped I tend to go study pros for a while. I use this method often when I'm learning other games/hobbies too.

I recommend you don't try to hide the rank because as you wrote: people play differently if they face a much higher/lower rank, and you shouldn't just ladder like a robot, same thing every game/map/opponent. If you don't like the term "learning experience" against better players - because you cannot learn much from getting steam-rolled by superior mechanics/micro - then maybe try to see it rather as a training experience: not "what can I learn" but "how many minutes can I survive?". I think that attitude fits a match better where you will lose 9 out of 10 games (or even more): You know he/she's leagues above you, it's not about winning or learning anything right now. The only thing that matters is that you don't give up, that you burn everything you have for as long as you can, that maybe you can impress him/her even if only for a moment. Analyze later on if you're not sure that you just lost because you f***ed up your macro or control at some point. In many of these games I realize the exact moment where things started to go downhill because I got pressured harder than usual and messed something up that I normally do better. ----------------- tl;dr Be like these guys: + Show Spoiler +
