(For the first two weeks ranks will be MMR bucketed based on last season’s data. After which we will switch to the percentage-based breakdown above.)
Additional notes:
SCR is now 64-bit compatible. An opt-in option is now available in the Battle.net application. We’d very much appreciate you guys giving this a go as it will become the only option available on Mac later this year.
Input update from PTR - Keyboard commands will now work when the mouse is held down.
Voices of Legend announcers have been updated with better stereo sound.
StarEdit is no longer included with StarCraft: Remastered. We recommend using SCMDraft 2 4.
SCMDraft 2 offers extended tileset doodads that we do not support in Cartooned. Because of this, some player made maps will not be fully skinned.

I'm glad to see that they are focusing on the important stuff. Things like cartoon skins and avatars, mac support, and voice announcer with better stereo.

Did this patch literally not only destroyed StarEdit but broke SCMDraft (0.9.08 latest version) making maps now unloadable?!! It asks me to locate directory tried the folder, tried x86 and x86_64 (which exe's are located) nothing works!

I checked out the map Tres Pass and there seems to be a problem with 2 mineral patches at the natural of the 12 o'clock spawn. Workers don't mine from them without an explicit order.

Hmmm… What does the version number say? It's definitely not the 1.00 version. It doesn't even have most of the deco. Looks more like my first draft release. Must be a mixup, expect an update soon.

It's to do with what your operating system supports. There's 32bit (this was mainly phased out for Windows after XP, but you could still buy 32bit Windows in 7 and 8 iirc) and 64bit. To put it bluntly it affects how much RAM an application is able to use. 32bit computers and applications can only support a maximum of 4GB RAM. There's other differences as well but that's the main one.
Issue was that Macs no longer support 32bit applications of any kind (or at least they won't) so this was something Blizzard have to fix or people won't be able to play the game from Macs at all.

BTW blizzard reported that. Fs/cb Will stay permanent. In the seasons map pools since the majority. Of the ladder players enjoys playing those maps

FS and CB are go to maps for new players. They are good to learn builds by FPVODs people can find on the Internet. Since you can down-vote both and enjoy your fresh new experience I don't see any problem.

Agree that FS and CB should stay for 1500 and below mmr players, as they already are overwhelmed with stuff to learn, even on overplayed maps (They shouldn't be in KSL though...). Maybe change the tileset? Make space FS and jungle CB?
The x64 bit update is very important (and most difficult, I imagine). Grant said himself, they can't do any other big updates before they have 64bit, because it directly impacts the longevity of the game (soon there won't be OS'es that support 32bit anymore). So help them test the 64bit, so they can finalize it and have programmers start doing other amazing stuff.

I'm kind of disappointed Gladiator returned from a previous season instead of one of the other viable 4 player maps. It's ok but I'd rather have something else.

Well actually, I kind of like to play on these maps as someone still trying to learn the game, they provide the continuity needed to get the basics down, so good for chobos like me I'd say
But the real MVP here is the input 'fix' (finally!).

If we stuck with maps forever because they were the "standard" at the time we would still be playing LT, Luna, Python,etc. There are plenty of good maps that are do not have crazy features and lend themselves to macro play. FS/CB are stale and particularly boring at higher levels.
I don't particularly have a problem with Gladiator other than PvP on the map...

I'm personally not a big fan of Andromeda, but thats because Corsair Reaver is difficult for me to handle.

I'm actually enjoying the new maps so far except block chain, and that is because I don't really like how those partial island maps play out. But tres pass and power bond are actually super fun to me. Power bond reminds me of a more modern rush hour.

They all play out quite distinctly from one another, and I havent played the meta to death for over ten years. Id rather play a map with a mineral only expansion over fs too--- literally just for the novelty. I always had good games on those maps, it was always fresh and felt truer to the intended experience of broodwar-- strategy. A lot of that came down to the mutual ignorance of me and my opponents, as I said, not maps I gutted for years on end in tandem with vods etc..
I'm personally not a big fan of Andromeda, but thats because Corsair Reaver is difficult for me to handle. haha, thats sort of the dream scenario of andromeda for me. gaurdian devourer vs late game sair reaver/dark archon, its pretty crazy. Same thing for andromeda as the older maps, games on andromeda tend to be a bit more unique than the average. Its also just a really solid map for macro which is fun in itself.

Are you still playing on the old VGA CRT from 1990s? It should look fine, HD graphics look fine in 640x480 (window mode) and they are also down-scaled from 4K resolution.

thanks for the reply quadrox. it's from 2003 :D nothing can beat good electron guns! with the deepest black (off), the 150 or 200 hz render, the block and schematic diagrams and wave forms to study if you so desire... what is not to love? they can not contain and do not depend on nonsense non-free firmware; can produce x rays (the likely cause of superhuman level bw)
would add that although vibrant, remastered graphics are fuzzy and indistinct at low res compared to the original.

I absolutely love the idea of both of these new maps, tres pass for its layout and power bond for its use of the neutral CC in the middle, I've been wondering whether you could have a map that's balanced ZvP-wise, where Zerg gets an infested CC and Protoss gets to have an easy 3rd or 3rd and 4th gas. You guys think that could work?
Also Freakling what do those billboards do on the highground bases on tres pass? Are they the key to fix unit pathfinding on maps, where players start closer to the center of the map away from the edges? Would be absolutely awesome if that can fix that.

I think we are lucky with a lot of new maps in SC:BW, compared to for example CS:GO... If you hate all the ladder maps, find friends and play One-on-One and choose whatever map you want. Removing FS/CB and adding to complex ASL maps will not be fun for lower rank players.

Is ranked even working anymore? I waited for 300+ seconds 3 times and gave up, then noticed a bunch of people were creating 1v1 public games and just played that

The new take on raid assault 2 should be fun, but I feel like there’s two too many broken matchups in this map pool. PvP on gladiator is no fun at all, and the neutral cc on powerbond looks like it will just wreck TvZ.

If CCs wrecked TvZ it would be the most broken matchup ever already...

yep i think they straight up lied about it ever being a priority which is pretty shady. i remember last year in may when they said it would be ready before 2019. now all we've heard is that its a 2019 priority and no other news on it
