BoxeR used to (he still might, but I'm not sure) and some pro-gamers probably do. I would say the most accurate figure is 6-10 hours a day. Some of those practice games might be really great kick-ass games and we don't know it, hmmm (like the four Elky vs Yell0w practice games that Elky released).

Plenty of people practice this much without making any money at all. This is part of what makes the absolute top level of progaming so exciting. Top amateurs can get better than each other just by practicing harder, while progamers simply don't have time to do that and survive at the same time. Its a very even playing field.

I remember back when I actually somewhat knew arang. he would seriously be _constantly_ looking for games for like 16 hour periods of time with no stop. I was really really amazed by his stamina, as I've never been able to play much more than 5-6 games in a row before I grew tired myself. I don't think most koreans are like that tho. =/ but well, im getting the feeling that they "sometimes" play for 10 hours a day and then people interperate that as 10 hours every day. ;(

I said that I thought xellos has been practicing 10 hours a day for the past few weeks in preparation for the OGN final. Ejai proceeded to disagree with me. Sure he might not practice 10 hours a day every day of his life, but when it comes to preparing for a huge match like that worth literally thousands of dollars, and knowing the korean mentality, he's probably practicing more than 10 hours a day right now. That's a big part of what makes koreans successful. They practice fucking hard and are very disciplined. they solve like a zillion math problems in elemantary school and consequently they are one of the top countries in math scores. I remember hearing seri pak had some sick training regiment. And boxer practiced 12+ hours a day for quite sometime to get where he is. Even if for some reason xellos didn't want to practice, knowing korean culture, his manager, family and friends will push him to his limits. This is xellos' job and he's about the face the most important match of his life. Considering all the factors, I'm willing to bet my bottom dollar that xellos is practicing nearly every waking moment right now.

nazgul honestly seems to play a game a day at some points for a stretch of a week then he can also play 70 in one day.. if you are not even good at this game and you play 50 hours a week, get a life. oh and marshall how do you lose anything after 3-4 days of NOT playing? i havent played for 6 months pretty much and it would come back in about a dozen games ![]()

My friend had a bet for 500 bucks that he could stay up for 72 hours straight - he got calls every 3 hours or so to make sure he's awake, so he played online games for that entire period (humans can stay awake for ~10 days before they die )

obviously, you have a different opinion. You also are unable to express it in a civil manner and must resort to low forms of sarcasm. I on the other hand will list all reasons why I came to that conclusion. You can choose to comment on it like an intelligent human being or you can make a smart ass sarcastic comment. The choice is yours. Reasons: 1) Most koreans that I know practice like fucking crazy at whatever they do. 2) Boxer practiced 10+ hours on a daily basis on his rise to stardom. 3) I've watched a lot of vods, occasionally with korean friends. Many of those vods have brief interviews of pro-gamers and there has never been an instance where a pro-gamer would say he regularly practices less than 6 hours a day. 5) This is their fucking job! People work 10+/day in many other industries on a regular basis. 6) This is the biggest prize in pro BW. Anyone in his position would be insanely motivated. Anyone who has spent his most of his life working towards that goal would be even more motivated. 7) The goal at hand is to beat yellow. If a boxer is about to face the biggest championship match of his life, he spends all of his time prepping for that specific opponent and not whoever may come after that. The next point supports this one. 8) He has not made any other tv appearances after qualifying for the finals. Notice that xellos the captain of GO, did not appear in the KTF ever pro league last round. He has appeared in every match until then and right when he's preparing for the most important match of his life, he misses the match. Coincidence? I don't think(ejai, I said think, not know) so. Common sense says that his manager took him out so he can concentrate on 1 matchup (TvZ) So in summary, do I know for a fact that xellos is practicing 10+ hours tvz over the past couple weeks? no, but I think I made a pretty strong case. Ejai, if you make a strong case, I'm not so stubborn to insist that I'm right. I've got an open mind so please state your case.

the reason that pro gamers may have practiced 10 hours a day before they reached elite status is because they were still improving a lot at the time. once you reach a certain level of anything, there is a diminishing marginal return on the effort you put in. When boxer was a newb, he was learning so many new things and increasing in skill very quickly. a few hours of extra practice probably meant a lot for him. however, one he became an sc god, he probably realized that practicing for 10 hours a day is stupid, because the difference between playing 10 hours and even 5 hours was probably marginal at best. Think of it this way: before the masters, does tiger woods increase his practice time by a huge amount? before the nba finals, do basketball players practice much more? yes, you have to factor in fatigue, but the players know that they will not get that much better in that short a time period. i think the same applies with sc. xellos is already damn good at tvz and has practiced and played against top zerg players for hundreds (maybe thousands) of hours. its not like he hasnt played these maps before, or isnt familiar with how yellow plays. to make another analogy, its like taking the sats in high school. if you try to cram in a ton of studying two weeks before you take the test, it likely wont help that much, sicne its testing you on stuff that you should have been learning for a long, long time.
