What's manipulative or sinister about KCM applying his personal sense of morality to the tournaments he runs? If he believes the company he worked for for years was brought to an end by match-fixing, then he could quite reasonably feel there should be a zero-tolerance policy toward match-fixing.

KCM sound like a baby. He wants to ban players who go to tournaments to possibly win 30K$? Because 1 certain player is also in the tournament?
Sounds extremely petty to ban players.

I don't think anyone could have logically predicted this. Because of this I don't think he should ban people who already participated. It would be fairer to say: "From now on, everyone who participates in a tourney in which Savior is also playing is banned from my tournaments." People should know before-hand. It's like you are smoking a cigarette while being 18. 2 months later the government puts a new law in place that prohibits smoking before 21. And then they come back to you and fine you because you did something that is now prohibited but while it was still allowed...

LOL this actually happens in real life! So a buddy was parking in an area that had no signs (thus legally allowed to park there) and went to work for the day. When he came back he was ticketed because a no parking sign was erected while he was working!!
Obviously you can fight that and win, but still, it happened.
This is a much shittier situation though. =(

His tournament and considering how much work he has put into keeping the scene alive after after the debacle of match-fixing scandals, it is fair that he is entitled to such action.

Such sad news Banning is such drastic punishment imo it shouldn't be thrown lightly, specially if involves an activity that ppl devote so hardly to. And taking in consideration the non-expected factor of the banning as miragee said it just sounds unfear. It is also a mathematical fact: surprise punishment + 3rd party crime punishee has cero to be with = out of place.

I think that’s pretty harsh by KCM unless he let the players know beforehand hat participation could lead to a ban from his events.
Maybe it was poor judgment from those three give the other pros refused to play but still seems harsh.

I wouldn't say that it's poor judgment, they got way more money from that than they would have done from any korean tournaments outside of ASL.

I think we need to find out where Savior orders food from, what grocery store he uses, where he does his banking, what businesses are associated with his family, find out who was in his father's platoon in the military and what THEY are all doing, and start keeping track of the asphalt that Savior has stepped on. If any StarCraft player is shown to be associated with any of the above in any way to within 3 degrees of separation, KCM will personally wipe your hard drive, ban your IP from Battle.net, break your CD, and not let you play in his tournaments anymore. If we're going to ban people for playing in a tournament with Savior in it, we can't just stop there; who knows how others may be connected to this villainous character?
Wait, shouldn't KCM be banned from casting his tour because he casted Savior in tournament before?!
|
you know I agree. If KCM has hosted tourneys with savior before he should be banned from hosting any future tournaments.
|
I mean you could talk to the players afterwards or make an announcement, so the small scene is not split up even more. Or instead you just act like a childish dictator. He is hurting himself, if there will be no players playing in his tourneys bc they could earn more by playing in a tourney with savior. Than he is done.
Seems very stupid and overreacted.

Yeah sure, there are a lot of tourneys with savior in it and a lot of people who want to be in them because savior is in them......lol

The pro scene is so small these days we really shouldn't be banning anyone from anything unless its absolutely justified...which this isn't at all. "KCM" seems to be on a ego trip and is throwing his weight around for no real reason other than reminding Koreans to shame Savior for the millionth time.
Hopefully some of the bigger names stand up for these players. The Korean scene really needs to take a chill pill with Savior drama and MOVE ON!

Savior got 80K + 150K RMB prize in cash, about 36K USD.

given the calibre of those players and the prizepools of a typical amateur tourney in korea they just earn umpteen times more money than they ever will from playing every korean tourneys including asl for the next 5 years.
put a typical korean troll from the savior pitchfork mob into their shoes and they wont hesitate to do the same. their holier than thou elevated moral platform hypocrisy is unreal.

had a feeling something like this would happen. by participating in a tournament with savior, those players involved effectively signalled that they were happy to be ostracised and isolated from the afreeca/pro community.
