Also when you play fullscreen using a 1080p monitor on SB, it'll require much more mouse movement than fullscreen regular BW with no mouse sens changes.
I suggest using a measuring tape to get the distance you need to move your mouse on iccup/fish and tweaking the SB settings to match that.

I'm gonna be mass gaming today for any new players who want to crack horns with me.

As I said in my previous post, the right-most setting should match that, if it's what your looking for.
In technical detail, our speed setting changes the size of the box that the mouse is locked within. So if you pick the left-most setting in 1920x1080, the box will be set to 1440x1080 (and thus mouse movements will map 1:1 with your native desktop resolution), and this is how many pixels your mouse will have to move to get across the entire screen. If you pick the right-most setting at that resolution, the box will be 640x480 (and thus mouse movements will map 1:1 with BW's real resolution). If you pick the middle setting (5), the box will be 1040x780, etc.

I don't want to sound selfish but what's the invite algorithm/process or is it all random? I was one of the first to sign up and I still haven't received anything. Very disappointing

Me too, man. It sucks.

Finally noticed what it is with SB brood-war that feels different than BW. I play BW in fullscreen, and notice that it takes up the entire monitor. When playing in SB, there are subtle, but noticeable, horizontal black bars on the top and bottom the monitor. In other words, SB fullscreen BW is vertically compressed compared to the real deal.
Is there any way to get SB fullscreen to use my entire monitor, or is that not a current setting? Either way, it's enough to be distracting and throw off mouse movements enough to make switching between SB and ICCup very unpleasant.
EDIT: If it were possible to pick a window size the same as my resolution (1280x1024), that would be functionally identical as far as I can tell...but the largest I'm allowed to pick is 1280x960

I don't have the beta but is there something you can tick like "lock aspect ratio" ? 1024 isn't perfect match aspect wise with 480 so I'm guessing ur fullscreen BW stretches it a little. If you turn lock aspect ratio off it might fix it?

If you want a full screen window, choose full screen, that's what that setting is. If you want that window to take up the entire monitor without any black bars, uncheck 'Maintain aspect ratio'.

It does have that, but checked or unchecked doesn't seem to make a difference.
Nevermind. Seems I can get it to run as a stretched window like that. Thanks!
Between that and the helpful hint about slider all the way right = BW 640x480, I think I have it running exactly the same with look and sensitivity as I would on ICCup. Thanks for the prior post tec and Mincs for the idea!

Sry for giving misinformation out about the maintain aspect ratio thing, I had a brain fart.

Hey, this is super nitpicky, and I understand if it's at the bottom of the priorities, but are there plans/ways to change one's username? :O
I guess there was that discussion of smurfing a while back, but I just wanted to occasionally change my name to something silly every once in a while >.<

I still feel like the newest update should be me having pink text in chat channels.
|
Bolded pink text, sorry. Since I am currently the number #1 chatcrafter on SB then if people look at their screen and see pink they know that the chat is ripe for a conversation!!!
|
So, sorry, but I missed the initial announcement in May (just saw it a couple minutes ago, in fact) and I don't have the time to read 98 pages of posts, most of which aren't going to be terribly relevant. Is there some sort of updated post about this? I'm curious about (1) how development is coming, if I'm able to get in, either by downloading something or applying to a waitlist or whatever (2) if custom maps are included. While I'm an avid RTSer, I want to play my old favorites... which weren't melee ladder maps. (3) On that note, it seemed like a modern matchmaking system was a big emphasis for this project, but that wouldn't really work well for a lot of UMSes... in fact what was in place worked perfectly, is that going to stay the same? Inhouses sound nice, and they are, but the old menu system and the flexibility of slot swapping in lobbies (or the equivalent like in SC2 lobbies) is pretty important to functionality in less organized settings, which are important for getting new blood involved.

Please don't do this lads, at least wait a reasonable amount of time before assuming that you're not going to find a game. I feel as if a lot of people do this, never find a game, assume sb is dead and never come back (hence the ~500 people always offline). Give us a chance to respond.
