hunters stands for a custom map called big game hunters, where have inifite resources in your main base.
The Hunters and Big Game Hunters are different maps. They're not custom maps and they're both original Blizzard maps (with The Hunters being first and Big Game Hunters added with the expansion I think due to popular demand). The Hunters has normal amount of resources (has 10 mineral patches compared to the usual 9 I guess, but still only 1,500 minerals on each and 1 geyser) while Big Game Hunters has "infinite" amount (actually it's 50,000 minerals per mineral patch; plus 15 mineral patches in each main base and 2 geysers).
EffOrt, as do most Koreans, plays The Hunters I believe, not the Big Game Hunters.
Hunter is actually the version of big game hunters which has limited resources. It's a 8 player map. With more mineral blocks at each mineral/2 vespene geysers at each spot. Minerals and gas's in each corner, sides,top and bottom of map. Speaking on the forfeit of effort. That is on him if hes mad about a misunderstanding. Also shouldn't he much more used to xp bw anyways considering he had requested for it earlier. It's part of bw professionalism to be ready for anything. He should of known bisu would receive star treatment anyways. As he has earned eveything he has ever gotten.
Maybe that launcher permits custom hotkeys and he doesn't want players using them.
Maybe he uses custom hotkeys, in which case I recommend buying key remapper. You can even set numbers on windows, capslock, tabs etc keys or middle mouse buttons with it for ez control group management.
windows 7 has been out for over 6 years. i'm sure that if there was any responsiveness problems in regards to unit control, it would have been already reported by now.
There's no need to show your caprice when you got into ro16. Effort played 2 games at ro24, there weren't any problems for him and his performance which boasted highly. Why some third party program is that important when you play/use the core of game which Blizzard made and patched?

Effort had a real tough time during his KESPA days too and I was hoping progamer experience would be different in the SOSPA era. I would have liked to think that Sonic would go and talk with him. Dude, guys, as sad is it is to say that this is more Effort just being a wimp instead of a real problem, it is. To roughly translate the situation 1. Effort wanted to use windows xp in season 2, citing control issues in Windows 7 in ZvT. Apparently muta cloud control is weird or something in windows 7. 2. OGN says NOPE 3. Effort practices for 5 months or so on Windows 7 4. Bisu asks, I think before the 2nd season, to be allowed to use Windows xp, OGN agrees 5. Effort shows up, is surprised when the launcher is xp, but since he didn't have to face any terrans, and just goes with it. 6. After fighting Mind and losing, he THEN now says that it was OGN's fault for switching to xp, and announces he wont play on his PERSONAL STREAM on Afreeca. As far as I can tell, he didn't officially tell OGN he was quitting, he bascially just cited some non-sensical reasons as to why he was dropping out while streaming on Afreeca.
TLDR; After Effort lost to Mind, he acts like a spoiled child, citing that OGN shouldn't have changed the launcher from 7 to xp. He's basically saying you like Bisu better than me, so f*** you OGN(ignoring that Bisu asked before the tournament while he asked during it, I think). Its ironic that he mentions the launcher change as well as a bunch of personal stuff as the reason he's dropping because he said all this garbage the MINUTE he loses against Mind. Most people here, myself included, can declare that Effort is a really ill-mannered kid. He complains the minute he loses, citing at best half-baked reasons and doesn't even have the manners to officially report to OGN he is dropping out.
However, while Effort also didn't act his age, OGN didn't either; the choice they made to say OK to Bisu's request while ignoring Effortt's doesn't sit right, and to be honest, neither party in this event is innocent. OGN are showing almost blatant favoritism when it comes to who they listen to, and Effort really could have handled the incident better and more maturely.

effort practiced on win7 for 5 months, obviously he didnt ask during it.
if you are an athlete in a competitive event and you are refused permission to use equipment B and can only use equipment A. then you train heavily with equipment A for 5 whole months. then a week prior to the event a star athlete comes along and got his request to use equipment B for the whole event accepted easily, unlike your request 5 months earlier. you would become pretty incensed too that you are made to train on an obsolete equipment for so long.
effort himself or someone needs to curb his drinking habits i think, effort tends to go off without restraints on his stream and starts saying the wrong things which is mostly likely reason for this fiasco.

Actually, with regards to a Zerg unit, "Hunters" refer to a specialized elite strain of Hydralisks that have double the HP and attack of normal Hydralisks. Just look up "Hunter Killer". If Effort had been massing hunters on his stream, and he is not allowed to mass them in the SSL, I can understand why he would be upset - they are a lot more effective against sieged tanks (they take 2 + shots to be killed), and are generally a better unit.

Oh wow, what? Please reconsider effort. I can understand his frustration with Bisu getting special treatment but this could have been handled in better ways.
Also, I've played BW on both xp and 7, never noticed a difference but I'm not playing anywhere near their level.

The first Esports article was more of a "reporting what the reporter read from the internet" story, the second was a formal apology from Kongdoo, who represents both Effort and Bisu, stating that it's a misunderstanding and things are still be worked out.
I'm Zero's ZvT practice partner(probably not the first main partner), and I've sensed zero's muta micro and game flow were extremely good. I also believe myself that Zero uses Win 7. When we were practicing, he was on full screen mode. His muta micro was very good.
I also played many games with HyuK on ladder, and his muta is more aggressive than Zero's. Both has a strong muta micro on Win 7 from my PoV. According to Beast, he said that as long as you adjust Win 7, microing is about the same.
I think Effort was drunk and said random stuff that was coming to his mind.

Bisu is probably the most generically handsome starcraft progamer. Reach is more manly and herO / midas is cuter but that's about it.

Windows 7 *does* have issues with BW. Most of them have been fixed today. What I have seen myself furing years: - minimizing after launch FIXED Aero issue - focus steal NOT FIXED When in full screen gaming mode, certain Windows apps may steal focus and provokimg lag. Affected: BW, W3, DoW - generally games with older engines. SC2 seems unaffected - Explorer + Aero active preventing BW from laumching FIXED - Third party programs would be a category too large, but focus steal (Yahoo mess still does it after 10 years...), accesibility, scheduled tasks, app updates, hooks, explorer bonks etcetcetc - believe me, I've even seen hpshellext64.dll (HP printer shell extension) injected in BW and services (!!)
Windows XP is simpler, desktop composition is missing and not interfering, no Aero, tiles, previews and the gazillion of new things that can work at best 'acceptable' with a legacy app such as BW. I dont know if Effort ragequitted or just was angry because of losing. But muta acceleration is especially sensitive, because of the great number of mouse events, to something like "the message loop in Windows XP checked for about 1/3 things as Win7". And there's multi desktop; message filtering; UIPI and so many things that can slow in certain conditions such as muta 480 apm. Effort might have a point, after all. Or he does not know how to finetune Win7

^ Just saw that in the LR thread, really disappointed. He could've easily voiced his concerns and made sure it doesn't happen again. He also got xp back anyways which is what he wanted in the first place so his mutalisk micro shouldn't have been that affected. Either way, he was really unprofessional and his exit is a big disappointments to many in the community who had high hopes for him. Hope this is the last time he acts this way but doesn't sound like it based on his past history.

Personally speaking, I think Pro.NT_JuNiTosS was probably the most generically handsome progamer, although it has to be said that out of the successful gamers out there, Bisu probably does top the list.

Truth is we're not sure if XP-vs-Win7 or some other thing happened. But I don't remember effOrt to be a whiner, not at all (even if we all know when Z loses to T is because marine imba). So I suppose something really set him off.

i wonder what gonna happen now. this incident has left a sour taste in many people, effort has stopped his usual streaming habits and if he starts again its gonna be awkward and hes gonna meet quite a reception. ssl12 participation not guaranteed either..

Yes, i don't agree with that treatment. Well, there's been some claims that mutaliskmicro is different based on OS used. Not sure how valid these claims are though.

well 7 can fuck up colors and shit in game sometimes and is really annoying always felt a slight lag with 7 i never felt with xp but that could have just been me
Frankly I would have bailed in Effort's situation too. He probably felt disrespected. He doesn't need the tournament. They're all amateurs now. He has a life outside of the game and if he doesn't want to put up with stuff like that then he doesn't have to.
You guys, you can't factor Effort's mom out of the picture. (2010) Contract or Coach Park drama aside, her sickness has been a major burden on him for half a decade, and now she's gone. I'll phrase it more harshly: now she's dead. That tang needs to get cooked into how we're stewing over this thing.

while what you wrote is a possibility considering past history, there's no point in spreading these kind of rumours imo. Keep in mind that we also don't know just how Effort went about his request. Did he just ask some random worker and they said no or did he go to the head of OGN? It didn't seem like he got Kongdoo involved and that would've helped him greatly.
just my take on the situation, in any case whats done is done, effort is gonna have a tougher time from now.

SC2 isn't doing anything. Not even Brood War itself. Rather, Flash is killing other false religions by walking the earth and showing humanity the light (through Brood War).
he started up his stream again because he didnt feel it was right to stay silent when all his fans and everyone else is wondering wtf was behind his decision making. he came on to kind of explain his point of view and also apologise for the way he handled things. he says there were issues with the way things were communicated and that escalated to this. the matter could have been handled better but things didnt really work out and hes apologetic to everyone who was expecting a good showing from him. part of his decision making was influenced by the car accident he recently had. he doesnt think everyone knows about the accident, but after he was discharged he says he still had pain in his arm and couldnt play/practice a lot. he felt conflicted/frustrated about whether he had to continue the tournament because he was already lacking practice due to the pain but coupled with the os issues (not explicitly stated but ogn's tech issues were implied), he didnt feel like he would be able to play his best and he didnt want fans to see him play at less than 100%. that is the reason why he considered forfeit (he seems to half regret the whole situation) and that is how the whole situation blew up. in response to accusations that he has always done shit his own way since even his progamer days (see cj incident), he says he knows there are fans who will shit talk him and make accusations but there are some things he cant talk about on the record and if people dont know the details they shouldnt talk shit. when asked what his plans were for now he says military quite quickly. hes at the age where he should go and considering how everything went down with this situation he thinks the time is right. some fans ask/plead him to keep streaming to which he replies it depends on the conditions of his arm injury. hes being cautious because it still hasnt been that long since the car accident and he doesnt want to risk making the injury worse which would make him unable to play at all. he realises that people will believe what they want to believe but he didnt turn on his stream to ask for forgiveness. he just wanted to apologise to his fans for the disappointment. he also mentions that he wasnt making an attack at bisu. (he mentions something else which i didnt understand because its some new-gen slang and i havent lived in korea for a while). but he tries to make it clear that he has no hard feelings toward bisu and he wasnt trying to drag bisus name into this. hes overall trying to be optimistic and he said at least this was an experience he needed to have. he mentions that when he first came to afreeca he just wanted to show people how progamers practiced, how they played and a look into a progamers gaming life from their bedroom. when he first got invited into season 1 (not sure what this is. i cant specify which tournament hes implying), he explicitly told the organisers that he had no interests in offline tournaments for this very reason and formally rejected the invitation. he also feared that something like the ogn situation might happen. he says after he takes some more time off to rest and when his condition gets better he will come back
