Currently there are about 20+ streamers who are the same age or younger than starcraft (i.e. born 2000, 1999, 1998etc.) creating a interest in the bw streamer scene. Watching their streams from their pov kind of shows how unfriendly the experience is jumping into the game. They end up playing fs amongst each other because the ladder pool is not noob friendly. Would be nice if they can keep this interest up and bring in more younger players to the game. | ||

The pathing is godawful due to the way bw treats paths blocked by destructible buildings as viable paths before the buildings have been destroyed. The bases are extremely exposed to harass play which makes the map a multitasking challenge which is unfriendly to newer players in my opinion. Additionally the combination of super long rush distances and 2 spawn locations forces you to pick rush/greed early and hope for the best. Protoss can build proxy gates at two hidden locations in your main, at your nat, at your third, and, on one side, above your third. But you'd never want a zealot opener because you can't pressure the other player with those rush distances. I would say Benzene is a map for experienced players only, you need to be familiar with the various different things other players can do to fuck with you and how to play against them. It's very rock paper scissors, defensive openers > cheese openers > greed openers > defensive openers. There's always an element of that on every map but Benzene is considerably worse. | ||

Those times are over, gladly, but self-centered thinking or catering the veterans is not what will make BW survive over time. I really think a few beginner-friendly, straight-forward maps should be in the pool at all times, at least 2-3 of them, at least over several consecutive seasons to get used to them. You can downvote them if you don't like them. Or maybe we could have different pools on different ranks. The ladder is not only for people who've played this game for decades and can't see FS or CB any more. Beginners or casuals will profit from it, high-level balance-issues don't matter for them. Most beginner-guides that are around were written with these kinds of maps in mind, too. Not fancy stuff like double-gas-mains or weirdly positioned thirds or doodad-island-maps. | ||

10 out of 10 pros who collab'd with these new streamers all tell them to play on fighting spirit. If someone was to be sick and tired of a map, you would think it would be the pros who played thousands of games on fs. | ||
