According to this thread http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=428231 Kespa has announced a new sc2 Proleague season but also a Kespa Cup that will be Brood War. As there is no 100% confirmation yet (I can't read Korean either) I've posted this as a rumour.
Many questions remain however. Who will play in a BW Team League? What teams? What infrastructure? Will it be somehow merged with the Sospa structures?
Anyway, it is certainly great news if this is true.
EDIT: RUMOUR UNFOUNDED. Translation by Frost of the post in Korean:
"To celebrate the upcoming 10-year anniversary of Proleague, KeSPA will release all Proleague statistics and records starting from "KTF EVER 2003 Season" to "SK Planet 12-13 Season"
The decision to release the <Starcraft> Proleague records was reached as part of the recently announced "Next e-Sports Action Plan #1" for the fans who were curious about <Starcraft> Proleague statistics and records.
The release which has 10 years and 4 months worth of Proleague statistics will include records from "KTF EVER Proleague 2003 Season" started in March 1st, 2003 all the way up to the recent "SK Planet Starcraft2 Proleague 12-13 Season".
Total of 13 teams and 368 players have participated in Proleague until now. Lee "Flash" Young-Ho (KT) holds the record for most wins in regular season with 266 wins while Lee "Jaedong" Jae-Dong (EG) holds the record for most played games with 388 games. Also, Hong "Yellow" Jin-Ho (ex-KT) and Park "Reach" Jung-Suk (ex-KT) holds the record for longest participation in Proleague with 8 years, 3 months, and 29 days.
The released statistics can be viewed on KeSPA's website (http://www.e-sports.or.kr) and can be downloaded as an Excel file by anyone and can be shared, but cannot be used for monetary benefits. From now on, KeSPA is planning on releasing future Proleague records and statistics. KeSPA's President Jun Byung-Hun stated, "Proleague is like a ship that has pulled Korean e-sports throughout the years. As we remember the past 10 years with our fans, we will also prepare for the next season to meet the expectations of our fans. By using the experience gained over the last 10 years, <Starcraft 2> Proleague will return in November with a reformed management of the league. We are also planning on reviving the short-term team tournaments that have disappeared since the 2007 KeSPA Cup. We will become an organization that will put in a lot of effort to meet the expectations of our fans".

I don't get this. SOSPA is a series of individual tournaments right? And Kespa cup was (and according to their intentions, will be) a short team league. How could they be merged? :/

isnt SOSPA an organization like Kespa ?
Ahh I thought you were referring to the ranking tournaments my bad >_<
Still, I don't see why they would have to do that. We don't even know if it's Kespa teams only, or any team can join (in which case the SOSPA guys could make their own teams) or anything at all about the format.

The reason for this speculation is that it's a "reunion tournament" of the teams disbanded since 2007, so it's probably Broodwar.
Crossing fingers. If this cup ends up actually being a BW cup, even if a random one, and it turns out to be highly popular, what would be the chances of KeSPA actively trying to rebuild a BW scene after that?
Dunno what to think about this. Any exposure is good, of course, but this shouldn't at all detract from what Sonic has done. Kespa should partner with Sonic. If it tries to apply any of its previous shenanigans (like banning/discouraging players from playing in SOSPA), then I don't like this.
My theory is that the current Kespa teams will all field a BW team. Since the SC2-side of many teams are downsizing (the rumored 5-6 man lineup for proleague), the rest of the players will have a choice if they want to play BW, which I feel most of them will.
The downside to this is that Flash and Jaedong might not choose BW. They've been constantly improving at SC2 and look to be on the cusp of breaking out in terms of championships and dominance. I couldn't care less if Bogus/Innovation decides to stick to SC2, or even if the other SC2 aces like CJ.herO, SKT.Rain (too bad though) prefer SC2. So long as the ones who were good in BW return to BW, I'm fine (yeah I know Bogus was decent).

Please keep in mind this will not be a ProLeague-style tournament, but supposedly multiple iterations in the vein of the Kespa Cup. We still don't know whether it will be at all connected to the amateur scene we have right now, and if so in what way.
Also Jaedong will almost certainly not come back considering he's pretty damn successful in SC2 and Kespa has had absolutely no control over him since he joined EG.
oh shit.. if this is real then.. holy fuck how awesome is that !?
but im really sceptical about it.. I dont want to get super pumped and hyped and then get a reality slap in the face if it turns out to be just a rumor..
