Hey all, Ive been coming to these forums for quite a while now.

And I know that you dont like people making new topics unless they have 100 posts, however I was interested in knowing what that chant that the korean crowds do at the start of starcraft games is?

Is there someone who could translate it for me?

The chants are actually real simple.

"One, Two, Three, [Insert player name] FIGHTING!"

"Fighting" is something that Koreans say to cheer someone one. It's bastardized English that came through from Japan. So to say HonestTea Fighting! would mean "Let's go HonestTea!"

During Proleague games, since it's team vs team, fans will also often say [insert team name] Fighting!

returns upon momentous occasions.

Did you notice, in the MBC domination over KTF how MBC fan chants were mostly puberty torn adolescent male voices while KTF had the screaming preteen girls? heh

Hmmm, yeah... Fighting = 화이팅 (Hwy-ee-ting). Fighting said without the "F" and with "H".

For example... since there are two players: Nal_rA vs. Kingdom. (Kangmin vs. Park YongWook)

"Kangmin~ 1, 2, 3! Kangmin Hwyting~!! Park YongWook~ 1, 2, 3! Park YongWook Hwyting~!!"

Those are usually the group chants. Sometimes you hear a few fanatics, who scream by themselves, especially the Oh YoungJong (AnyTime[gm]) group. AJA AJA! Oh Young Jong! AJA AJA! Oh Young Jong!

AJA (아자) is usually a yell of encouragement.

Friend: 아, WhatisProtoss... 내일부터 시험있어.. T_T
(WhatisProtoss, my exams start tomorrow. T_T)
Me: 오, 힘내라~! 아자아자~!

YES EXACTLY@!> I've been suspecting recently that the demographics of people who follow pro starcraft in korea are largely preteen and young teenage girls because of it, but they only seem to show up for the "good looking" progamers like reach and yellow, both ktf.

When I run in the evenings at my local gym, I watch ongamenet most of the time. There was this one special with this fat dude that was at the MBC vs KTF game and they showed how the fan chant thing works. There's the chant leader who shouts "name" one, two, three, then the rest of the fans shout "name" 화이팅. This was a proleague match, so the KTF leader would shout..

ktf, 1, 2, 3 .. then all the middle school girls would shout KTF 화이팅, then the mbc guy would follow shouting mbc, 1, 2, 3 .. and the male fans would shout MBC 화이팅. I hate wearing a headset to hear the sound when I'm running.. it gets all wet and stuff with sweat.. eww. so for most of the program I didn't have sound, so I didn't get how they actually pick the chant leaders but that's generally how it works / what they say. the leader .. leads the chant with the name of whoever they're going to shout for, followed by a 1, 2, 3 then everybody chants "name" 화이팅. There are occasional variations.. but basically this is it
